1 Examination Day

3rd POV

There was this one girl named Nurul. She was a polite and quiet girl since born but not when she was with her best friends, Dee and Aifaa. Aifaa was her friend since she aged 10 years old while Dee was 13 years old. They were classmates for consecutively 5 years as well. They were all best friends since they were 13 and got different personalities each.

Aifaa was a friendly and talkative type of friend and Dee was a taciturn and tomboy. They were different but the same in this one personality which could be seen whenever they were together as the introvert gang. Now, they were already 17 years old almost become adults for another 2 weeks. Not officially but internationally as Aifaa, Nurul and Dee's birthday was in June, October and December respectively.

Nurul was the tallest with 161 cm while Aifaa was the taller with 159cm and Dee was the shortest with 155cm. Nurul has big eyes while Aifaa, squinty eyes and Dee, almost as big as Nurul but moderate. Nurul and Aifaa have East Asian noses whereas Dee has a combo nose. Nurul also has top-heavy lips while Aifaa has bow-shaped lips and Dee has full lips, as well as Nurul's face, was round while Aifaa's oblong and Dee's oval. Last but not least, Nurul has dark brown skin while Aifaa's while-yellowish and Dee's light brown.

But what was most important is they have an English paper as today was examination day for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia(SPM) students and their seventh paper to boot for the science stream students. There will be another two papers for tomorrow and the next 2 days. Those 3 girls were queuing at their classes' line on Dataran Sri Akmal followed by the first 2 religious stream classes, 2 science stream classes, an account stream class, an economy stream class, 6 trade stream classes, 2 household economy stream classes and 2 aquaculture and recreational animals stream classes at 7 o'clock in the morning for the English paper 1 examination.

They were memorizing the grammar and reading hints on how to answer paper 1 part. They still have time to memorize or read anything that they need to before 7.15 am. They already put their identity card, examination slip and pencil box next to the bags too as soon they sit. Even though the exam started at 8 am, the teachers on duty have to get the students to be prepared before going in to the examination hall thus she walked on the stage and informed them as they have 13 minutes left to get ready. The 3 best friends quickly slipped on each page and checked those 3 important things one more time before they will be called to move to the examination hall without bringing their bags with them. The students were required to put on the Dataran or in front of the hall.

13 minutes have passed, the teacher asked them to leave the Dataran Sri Akmal before it was late. All students were busy walking into the examination hall and sit in their places. Aifaa's table was on the 2nd line and at the 3rd table while Nurul was the same too and she placed at 15th as well as Dee just with a small 3 tables range and at 18th. They were positioned on the right side and in the middle except for Aifaa since her first name was the first letter of the alphabet. She got no chance to sit near her two best friends.

1 hour later

They were at the canteen after answering the paper non-stop. It was kind of difficult for them as they were not fluent in English but glad they did lots of exercises at home despite it was hard. As always, practice makes perfect. Resuming what they were doing, they bought Nasi Lemak and sat on a bench outside after washing their hands. Before starts eating, Aifaa initiated a conversation with Nurul and Dee regarding the paper.

"Guys... the objective part was a bit hard for me"

"I couldn't agree more"

"Yeah, I spent more time especially at the last part"

"You guys okay?"

"Yeah, good but we still have essay part after this in another 53 minutes"

"Better quick. We don't have much time"

The other two understood and nodded their heads. They quickly ate the Nasi Lemak and finished in just less than 10 minutes. They then washed their hands at a nearby sink and headed to the Dataran after. They sat at their class position earlier and grab their exercise and notebook for the next paper. They began to read several essays in just 1 minute for an essay with their eyeballs almost bulged out and memorize some idioms that could be used for paper 2 later.

As they were reading and memorizing, Nurul's stomach grumbled so sudden and Aifaa and Dee heard her it. They threw her quizzical looks before giggled while shaking their heads. She just shrugged her shoulders with a blank front and searching for her biscuits in her bag. She ate a few and gave 1 packet to each of her best friends. Dee ate it while Aifaa put it in her bag as she was still full. They then continue. The clock at Dataran showed 9.30 am. They hurriedly find their i/c, pencil box as well as examination slip and put it on their laps except for Dee. She merely put it on the tar beside her.

The teacher on duty started to walk on the stage again and informed all the SPM students to get ready as the time nearly showed 9.45 am. They memorized what they could in one go before putting back those books and notes inside the bag. This time, the teacher commanded the students to go to their respective places and prepared for the next paper as there were a few students not moving from the canteen and the Dataran as well. This paper was the hardest part in English that Nurul, Dee and Aifaa almost gave up from studying but they still have faith in the subject thus will do their best at this moment.

12.09 pm

Finally! Paper 1 and 2 were done. No more English! Till the night at least. The students were walking outside and reached for their bags including the 3 of them. Aifaa already found her bag not long after and was waiting for Nurul as she was putting her things in her bag. Dee also did the same and they bid goodbye later. They were separated as Dee always use the school back gate while the other two used the front gate to go to school and back home. Dee already got a license and motorcycle thus she went to school by motorcycle since the day she received the license whereas the other two went to school and back home by van. Dee reached the motor parking lot after 5 minutes of walking and headed home after meanwhile Nurul and Aifaa were waiting for the van in front of the school gate.

Aifaa seemed bored so she told Nurul she wants to stroll near the security guard place which was not that far from where they were standing right now as in 15 metres. Nurul just said yes and nodded. She was leaning on a stone wall while eyeballs roaming left and right finding her van's appearance. On the other hand, Aifaa spun 180 degrees showing her back and starting to walk leisurely to release her tension while calming herself. She looked at the school's buildings and recalled her past as she will not be here for long anymore as there were 2 days left for another 2 subjects.

Suddenly, there was someone staring and kicked a stone until it landed on Nurul's left shank quite hard. She hissed and thought that person has accidentally kicked it but no. She slowly looked in the direction where the person was and it turned out to be her classmate. There was another person behind her and sneering could be seen on her face but guilty. The first one was her classmate that gaping their distance to where it becomes dark and tense the moment one of them is within close range. Not knowing why she became that girl now yet Amanina, still treated her nicely not like that one best friend of her's that never missed an opportunity to disparage her competitors as well as the one behind her.

God knows she was neither her friend's competitor nor her friend's friend anymore. But she, Farahain, stared out at her and her best friends every time they encountered elsewhere and even at this moment. There appeared a disdainful front of her's at the moment. The girl got no other expressions to show or she had broken her face before? No moral, no consideration, no brain. Amanina hurriedly hunkered touching her shank then started to commence communication between them with a worried face while the arrogant Farahain was taking five steps forward next to Amanina with the remaining expressionless countenance.

"Are you okay, Nurul?"

"Yes, yes. I'm... good"

"I'm sorry for what Farahain did earlier"

"Oh, it's okay"

"No, it's not okay. She's wrong. She should apologise"

"Wait, what?"

"You heard what I said. So, apologise to her now, Farahain"

"The h*ll is wrong with you? Ugh! Okay, fine!"

"Nothing is wrong with me. You are"

"I'm sorry, Nurul. Okay, done! Ugh!"

"Oh... it's okay..."

'This is weird but... whatever. Where's Aifaa? She's supposed to be here' She thought.
