Booting Up
Early in the morning, when the first ray of sunlight broke out. In a hospital, a man woke up from a coma and got a splitting headache as he tried to remember what has happened to him and why was he in the hospital. He remembered that his friend has invited him to a roof-top party which was being held by a rich dude from college which he goes to. When the party was about to end, he was pushed by a lackey of the rich dude and fell down from the building as he was leaning on the railings which unfortunately for him broke after being pushed.
As the nurse came in, she has noticed that he woke up so she went to immediately call the doctor. After the doctor arrived and inspected him, the man had asked what had happened after he fell. He has told me that after he fell down from the building, he was immediately rushed to the hospital and that he was in a severe but non-life threatening condition. He then asked the doctor if he told his family which he replied that he didn't yet as he couldn't get the contact information. He felt relieved as he didn't have to worry his family about this matter and thinking about this he told the doctor to not tell them.
His name is Li Wei. Both his parents and cute little sister Li Na live in the countryside as farmers and he has moved to the city for college. After he came here he has underestimated life in the city as he had to live frugally because the paycheck barely supported his needs. Too much happened in the city which made him depressed but he had never informed his parents about it and always said to them that he was okay.
*Ding*
Suddenly a loud bell-like noise rang inside his head.
*System initializing: 0%...13%...36%...72%...100%*
*Initializing complete*
'What.....was...that.....!?' as he thought while falling unconscious again

He woke up a couple of hours later confused at what had just happened before he fell unconscious.
'What was that nose and why did I fall unconscious again? Am I hallucinating because of some brain injury? I think that might be it.' he thought and while he was thinking about that, a man that look him but much older with wrinkles all over his face and body entered the room. He was in some old clothes that had some dirt on them. He quickly looked at me to know if I'm fine.
"Dad," he said, "why are you here"?
"Why wouldn't I if I heard that my only son fell from a building and got severe injuries"!?
The dad said loudly as he released his anxiousness as his son appeared to be fine.
Li Wei felt warmth after he heard what his father said and he suddenly said that if his mother and sister know to which his father replied, "I didn't intend to let them know but both of them heard me that you fell and both started crying but I managed to calm them down and I managed to keep them from coming as I said that you will feel bad for worrying them".
He then talked to his father and reassured him that he will come back home as he pushed him to go home and get some rest. And just like that, his father has left him even though he was a little bit reluctant to part.

Once his father has left, he began to organize the information he had. As he was doing that-

A familiar sound rang in his head once again.
[Hey, host. Welcome to the EX-Universe System.]
"What, who's talking!?" Li Wei said out loud confused at where the sound is coming from.
[It's me. I don't have a name yet so you can name me. I'm fused with your body right now.]
"Huh, I don't understand so can I ask you the details," asked Li Wei to the feminine voice inside his head.
[Well, I was a jack of all trades system. But when I was born, I got sucked into some kind of black hole. When I came out, I realized that I had a conscience and a will plus my system been upgraded to a higher level. Then when I came out I saw you almost dead on the streets and I fused with you. Also, we had great compatibility. Well because of that you are still alive so I saved your life and in exchange, I will live fused with you forever. And you get the benefit to get to use the system and ask me anything and I think I might be able to answer. I think?]
"So, you saved my life and in exchange, you want to live with me. That's a lot to take in but since it already happened then why will I worry? Also, thank you so much for saving me." Li Wei said as he thought how sad his family will be if he died.
[You are kind as I thought and very filial. I didn't read your mind but understood your emotions and seen how deeply you cared for your family.]
"Okay, so can you tell me why you needed to 'fuse' with me?" Li Wei asked earnestly trusting the system a little.
[If I don't have a body to contain me then I will be like water without a container and my energy will disperse eventually ceasing to exist. Don't worry, nothing will happen to your body, on the contrary, you will have a healthy body and a faster regeneration speed with less chance to catch a disease or sickness.]
"Okay, I won't go into further detail and just say to myself that I survived and gained a lifetime partner," Li Wei said without prying any further.
Silence fell as Li Wei suddenly said, "your name is Yang, Li Yang, which is great as the ocean"!

[There are these two functions for now because you're in the lowest rank right now. The first one is stats which is easy to understand. The second is the task system which gives out three random tasks every day but you can only choose one and can't get another one without completing it. Each task completed will give some type of reward corresponding to the task and its difficulty. You can only get tasks which are the lowest rank. Once you rank up, you can choose which rank each task will be. There will be other kinds of functions which will be unlocked once levelling up. There are also hidden tasks which can unlock other functions but you won't know what the task is so everything will depend on your luck and fate. To rank up, there will be a task given once you reach a certain amount of tasks completed and it will be incredibly difficult. There are a lot of things I don't know also except for these two.]
"So most of the system centers around the tasks from my understanding," Li Wei said as he understood most of it, "can I ask that if there is a task that I can't complete, what would I do"?
[That is impossible because the universe chooses the tasks based on what you can do and what you think but it will be difficult at higher ranks. An example is that there won't be a task asking you to murder your friend but there might be a task asking you to kill a murderer and it may be as hard as killing one in the most secure prison with your abilities right now .]
"Can I see my stats?" Li Wei recalled and was curious what was his stats.
[Sure, next time you can just need to think to see your stats.]

[No I can not because there are rules which were made by the universe to keep everything in... ball... ance...?! Host, what kind of luck do you have!? To think the universe can't even measure it!?]
"I probably have the worst luck that the universe can't measure it," Li Wei said gloomily.
[...I don't think that's true but the future will tell, so cheer up?]
"Thank you, but I'm alright," said Li Wei as he felt tired and went back to sleep.

Night fell at that time. In a mansion, there was a group of people together looking with loyalty to the person in front of them. This is the rich guy that held the rooftop party which caused the demise of Li Wei.
"Boss, I confirmed that although he didn't die, he won't be getting out of bed anytime soon," said the lackey which was the person that pushed Li Wei.
"Good, to think a random guy got close to the beauty of the campus," said the rich dude, "she is destined to be my woman and I won't let anyone touch her".
The night fell with the sound of the rich dudes' evil laughter.
