Evolution and Innate Skill

{Evolution Complete. Time taken to complete: 17 minutes.}

Jack slowly opened his eyes as he looked around himself. The dead body of the so-called hero was still next to him, caved in head and all.

He slowly sat up, rubbing his eyes and getting rid off the fuzziness in his eyes after the evolution.

"Status..." Jack willed his status to appear in front of him.

Name: Jack Clancy

Age: 19

Growth Rate: Orc (Warrior)

Evolution Progress: 0%

Strength: 34

Agility: 17

Vitality: 37

Dexterity: 31

Wisdom: 9

Intelligence: 10

"An overall increase of 10 to each of my focused stats...Good, I'll need all the strength I can get," Jack walked up to the corpse next to him and pried the sword from the dead man's hands.

Standing up fully, Jack took in the fact he seemed to have grown even bigger. From his earlier height of 186cm all the way up to 192cm tall. He had gotten even more muscular but he still kept the lean, battle-orientated muscle compared to the bulky muscle a bodybuilder would have.

If he had a mirror, he'd be able to see that his hair was now a lighter green and his yellow eyes seemingly shined with threatening light.

Jack looked at the Katana before searching the man's corpse and finding its sheath. The katana was quite plain and Jack could only guess the man had brought it online as it didn't seem very strong or durable. It had a silvery blade and a black colored guard and handle - an average katana.

He slid the katana into its sheath, figuring it'd be better than nothing before he started walking off, both a metal bat and a sword in his possession.

His speed was even higher than before and because of his increases in Agility, he understood what the stat did.

It effectively increased the flexibility, balance and overall fluidity of the body. This may seem useless for combat but it really wasn't, the ability it gifted Jack was that it would allow him to contort his body in more inhuman ways in order to dodge and complete even more impressive acts of athleticism.

And most of all, it allowed him to better change directions when at full-speed, giving him more mobility rather than straight-forward explosive speed.

On his way to his sister's school, Jack ran into some enemies. These creatures were different from Humans and Goblins in the fact that they didn't have completely humanoid appearances.

Standing about a foot taller then the 3 feet tall Goblins, these creatures were covered in fur and looked like bipedal dogs. Each of them was a different color and they each looked like small German Shepards.

Jack wasted no time and flung the sheath off of his sword before rushing at the dog-like humanoids.

He sliced with his sword and smashed with his bat. Any attack that hit him barely broke his skin and only caused him to swing with more ferocity.

Within a minute or two, the 3 Kobolds were now dead. Each one sliced to high hell and smashed into an unrecognizable pulp.

A battle-crazed look was burning on Jack's face as his breath was heavy like a beasts and his heart was beating hard against his chest.

You might be wondering how he defeated the Kobolds so quickly? Well, that's because the difference in their physical prowess was so high. Plus, Jack's instincts seemed to be molded for battle and he simply let them guide him.

"Status," Jack spat out the word as he walked over, picked up the sheath he'd flung away before sheathing the sword in it.

"Hmmm..." Jack had his hand on his chin as he started to jog again. He was thinking about how he needed to kill more, and how to do it.

He'd read the stories about stuff similar to this, and he knew personal power was the only currency worth anything in worlds like this. If he fell behind, he'd be crushed by those who surpassed him, his loved ones torn away from him.

Shaking his head, Jack focused on running. He needed to get to his sister's aid as soon as possible.

Running, running, and even more running. Jack was glad his Vitality is nearly 4 times his past self otherwise he'd have been out of breath ages ago.

After so much running, Jack could finally see his sister's school come into view. Good ol' Rockfield High, the memories he'd had at this school would always bring a smile to his face but right now he had other things to do.

He rushed in through the gates and into the front door. Well, he would have, if it weren't for the barrier of wooden benches blocking the door.

"Haah~ Fucking idiots...Why block the entrance when the monsters are probably already inside...aren't you just trapping everyone?" Jack sighed before taking his bat and walking over to a window near the entrance and smashing it through.

He grabbed the inside of the window, ignoring the glass cutting into his palms, and pulled himself up and into the room.

When he entered the room, he nearly cursed himself to death.

4 little green men and a fifth green man who was taller than the others. Around the same height as the Kobolds, Jack had killed earlier. He wore armor, or more accurately he wore scraps of armor which were secured to his body via string.

He also had a small dagger-like sword which looked surprisingly sharp but because of the rust gathering on it, it looked pretty brittle.

Jack would have wanted to take the silent approach this time but the 5 Goblins looked at him with their beady yellow eyes glowing with greed, hatred and...hunger?

"Well shit, you guys want to eat me?" Jack chuckled a little but he abruptly stopped as his yellow eyes had a predatory gleam, "I don't think you guys know you're place on the food chain, huh?"

And with this, he charged at them with his newly enhanced speed.

He sent a solid kick at the armored Goblin, sending it flying off its feet and backward until it hit the wall, going into a daze.

Not pausing, Jack swung his bat with his mighty strength and quickly crushed the head of one of the slower Goblins.

Using his still sheath sword like another bat, Jack jabbed it into the eye of another Goblin causing a sickening pop to resound around the room which was quickly followed by a pained screech.

Jack couldn't help but thank how much Dexterity helped with his body coordination and how it helped him wield two weapons with surprising ease. However, it was far from perfect.

"KEKEKEKE!" a Goblin laughed as it jabbed a rusted dagger into Jack's ribs, fully breaking the skin and plunging its way into his torso.

"Argh! yOU LITTLE SHIT!" Jack roared in anger and sent a kick up at the Goblins chin. When the hit connected, the Goblin's head snapped back and the Goblin's neck snapped with an audible cracking sound.

With only an eyeless Goblin and a now shivering Goblin, Jack smiled in sadistic glee.

But before he could finish his work, he stepped backward and growled at the armored Goblin who'd come back over to ruin his fun.

Weirdly enough, despite Jack's kick which put the Goblin on its ass, the armored Goblin didn't look at Jack with any fear. Instead, it looked at him with battle-intent pouring from its eyes.

Seeing this, Jack roared with laughter before rushing at his opponent.

Along the way, he flicked the sheath off his sword before sending a slash at the Goblin in front of him.

Seeing the slash, the Goblin held up its sword and blocked the attack. Jack, expecting the Goblin to fly away under his strength, was shocked when he saw the Goblin guide his slash over its head before sending a counter-attack at the dagger still stuck in his ribs.

The attack hit the dagger, sending it further and causing Jack to nearly double over in pain. The only thing that kept him up was his high VIT stat and the fact he didn't want to go down.

He wanted to enjoy this fight!

He wanted to bleed! To make the Goblin bleed!

He wanted to push himself to the edge and take his opponents life, declaring himself the winner!

He couldn't believe he'd never tried this before...it was exhilarating...the rush was unimaginable!

Jack's pupils were now pinpoints in size as he couldn't help but give a broad, manic smile. He rushed at the Goblin like a berserk beast.

He did a feint with his bat, causing the Goblin to instinctively raise his guard. But Jack caught the Goblin off guard by tackling him to the ground. Such close quarters made the weapons of either one quite useless.

Jack dropped his weapons and brought his fists into the air before slamming them down like some kind of crazed-gorilla.

The Goblin brought up its armored forearms, protecting its head but this didn't deter Jack as he added more ferocity to his attack.

His fists hit the flimsy looking bracers and slightly dented the metal before grabbing the arms blocking the way and moving them before he released one and sent a punch of his own at the Goblin's face.

The punch connected causing green blood to spill across the floor and cover the knuckles of Jack's fist.

The Goblin seemed to abandon defense after that punch and instead kept kneeing the area around where Jack had been stabbed. The occasional knee hit the dagger, driving it deeper and causing Jack to re-double his ferocity in punching the Goblin under him.

Red blood mixed with green blood as the punches of Jack's got stronger and stronger, while the knee attacks from the armored Goblin got weaker and weaker before finally--

*CRACK!*

--Jack's fist caused the armored Goblins skull to crack completely open. Jack stood up and let out a roar of inhuman quality. Like a beast that had just won a territorial dispute.

After his roar, Jack wandered over to the cowering Goblin and the one-eyed Goblin who was still writhing in pain.

He quickly ended their lives before looking down at the dagger in his ribs. He enclosed his hand around the handle before pulling it out with a sudden yank.

"Fffshhhh...Haah~ That's gonna sting for a while..." Jack's voice led off as a screen appeared in front of him.
