Chapter 24 - Fifth Calamity

Nine days later, the number of houses that were built in the survivors' base that Zach had created totaled thirty-seven which were all occupied by people. Everyone living on the base never stopped working despite the snowstorm however, not even one voiced a complaint but instead, brought them closer to one another after getting to know each other and the best evidence for that is that Max and Rose have become a couple and are now living together. 

Everyone was already used to living with each other and was now filled with energy after not missing a meal which surprised everyone thinking just where in the world Zach get the supplies however, as they knew the rules of the place, they remained silent and just enjoyed the moment that they were now living a life different from before. 

Right now, everyone can be found outside their houses while drinking some warm coffee. No one was talking seeing them stayed silent as they were waiting for the next message as it was now time for this snowstorm to end and a new calamity would be introduced again.

[World Cleansing Procedure 4: Snowstorm Calamity is over.] 

Everyone finally breathed in relief after seeing the message, but they remained silent as they were waiting for another message which didn't betray them that they didn't even care and check the changes on their bodies. 

[Commencing World Cleansing Procedure 5: Extreme Heat and Drought Calamity.] 

After seeing what kind of calamity it was, almost everyone had a faint smile on their faces since just like the snowstorm, the calamity this time wasn't that dangerous for as long as they had resources so everyone looked at Zach if he had something to say.

"Looks like the calamity this time will also last for three weeks just like the snowstorm. And unlike before, what we were dealing with this time around was extreme heat and I saw a problem with it." Zach said seeing everyone's expectant gazes. He has seen his stats and just like before it really increased again but that wasn't important right now since he have realized something as they might face another problem in the next following days after seeing the calamity that they will be facing this time.

"Look around. There was snow everywhere and when extreme heat started then the snow would start to melt. Thus, we should expect water to start rising for the next following days." Zach followed as he looked at the snow around them. 

Hearing Zach, everyone's eyes brightened with realization since what he said was true. A huge headache then came to their minds thinking that they might probably not be able to sleep properly not only due to increased heat but at the same to deal with the water rising. 

"Well. Let's just see what will happen in the following days. Let's just celebrate tonight after we have survived another calamity again." Zach said with a smile while looking at the people who were looking at him. 

Following Zach's announcement, everyone felt joy especially the men so everyone then started to get busy as the women started preparing the food with Vanessa's lead while the men started clearing the snow in the surroundings, especially around the canteen that they built. 

Zach himself went to the warehouse so he could take out supplies from his inventory before telling Zoey and Hannah to call some men to bring back the alcohol in the canteen. They didn't even have to worry about it not cold since Zach had already made use of the snowstorm as he made some ice out of it and was now preserved in his inventory. 

The night inside the base was like a festival as singing and dancing were present as everyone was very happy at the moment. The survivors, especially the late ones, have expressed their joy and heartfelt gratitude toward Zach and his family while some of them even cried and couldn't help themselves up and embraced him. 

Everyone was filled with joy as they forgot about the calamity and everything. Aside from the minors, everyone had a bottle of beer in their hands as they talked about their stories, especially their happy memories of the past. They all had their fair share of moments which lasted until midnight seeing everyone start going back to their houses either drunk or not. 

On the other hand, Zach himself was also enjoying the night seeing him inside an unfamiliar room together with a woman who was none other than Jenny who was too drunk to walk back so he helped her out, but little did everyone know that the two of them were already having a moment together. 

Zach could be found lying on the bed while Jenny was sitting on top of him as they engaged in a seductive and deep kissing. This was the first time they had done such a thing, and it might probably be due to the alcohol however, the two were not really unfamiliar with each other since no one aside from Hannah knew that the two would always call each other every night for the past nine days and the fact that they would head out every day. 

Though their relationship was not known to the outside, the two of them were much closer than it looked. As if they crave each other, Jenny is too rough and wants to be dominant seeing her cupping Zach's face not wanting him to let go as she ravages his mouth. Zach, on the other hand, didn't care as he was also enjoying the feeling of squeezing her ass to his heart's content. 

After ten minutes, Jenny suddenly stopped and she looked at Zach hungrily as she was now planning on taking her top but before she did it, Zach's hand stopped her which surprised her as she looked at him again. In fact, she already had a clear mind right and was completely sober up but even still, she was sure to take things further with him. 

"We should stop as I felt things had just become too fast." Zach said before he got up and looked at Jenny's eyes. No matter how badly he wanted it right now, he felt the need to stop and make things clear first as she was just different from Hannah and Zoey who didn't mind sharing him together. 

"I know. Hannah told me about it. Just one night. Let me have it tonight. After that, we will forget about everything." Jenny replied while looking at Zach. For the past few days that she was living in this place, she had to know more about Zach. In fact, she was just curious about him but after seeing how hardworking and talented he was, she couldn't help but feel and start attracted despite their age gap.

After some time, Jenny came to know just a while back about Zach's relationship with Hannah and his secret ones with his twin sister Zoey. She was completely surprised after hearing it and she felt quite disappointed but mostly devastated so she drank without holding back before everything came to this. She thought that since he was already taken, she then just wanted to experience something with the first person she felt attracted to. 

On the other hand, Zach looked at Jenny with wide eyes however, it then returned to normal seeing him holding her cheeks and tracing his finger down to her lips. Now that he has a taste of it, he already understands the feelings that he has right now and the reason that they have seen and talked to each other every night. Yes, it was a feeling of likeness and he was sure that he liked Jenny who was now in front of him. 

"Unfortunately, I don't want to end it just for tonight. From the days that passed, I came to realize something about myself and that is I started to become hungrier. I like you, Jenny. I don't care if you call me a scumbag but what I said by liking you is the truth." Zach said before pulling her closer to him as he printed his lips against hers. 

Jenny was frozen as she didn't expect such a sudden confession but after feeling Zach's tender kisses, her body started to melt different from what they were doing before as this time, she could really feel it more in her heart. She then just closed her eyes and savored the moment as a trace of tears dropped from her eyes. 

Following that, Zach and Jenny didn't do more than that as they spent the night talking to each other while embracing before they could no longer fight their drowsiness and sleep together on the bed. 

The next morning, Zach woke up from his slumber and a sweet smile immediately appeared on his face upon seeing Jenny sleeping peacefully beside him. He then just remained looking at her before noticing something which widened his eyes seeing a trace of water on the floor. Probably because of his movements, Jenny suddenly woke up. 

The two looked at each other and a faint blush appeared on their faces but Zach didn't look away and even took the initiative to give Jenny a sweet morning kiss on the lips making the latter completely surprised but still, she didn't push him away and reciprocated his advances. 

"Morning." Zach greeted him as he broke the kiss and looked at Jenny with a smile on his face seeing that she didn't react much. They talked about many things last night and he didn't expect to see her not trying to voice something about knowing his relationship with two other women. He was kind of expecting harsh words, but Jenny just took everything maturely. 

"Morning." Jenny greeted back as a blush appeared on her face. 

"You really don't mind it?" Zack couldn't help but ask. 

"I-I don't know." Jenny replied truthfully. In fact, she has mixed emotions about what was happening but she was sure that what she felt towards Zach was genuine. Despite knowing the truth, she somehow couldn't accept being apart from him and was even seeking more of what they did last night. 

"Do not worry. I can't say for certain but I'm completely different from others since I know what I'm doing but if there will be a day that you would no longer feel the same about me then I would not force you to stay." Zach said but deep inside of him, he was ready to do everything for the two of them to stay together. 

Jenny didn't reply and just looked at Zach silently. Her mind was in complete turmoil right now but despite all of that, her heart was beating so loud that she could feel and hear it from her ears. She knew that rejecting him was the right choice, but her heart was just not listening to her. 

Seeing her remain silent, Zach moved closer to her once more and this time, he gave her a deep kiss as he held her waist and pulled her closer to him. Holding her in his arms, the two were so completely engrossed in kissing each other that they set aside the water on the floor. 

It was only after ten minutes did Zach got out of the room leaving Jenny lying on the bed alone while breathing heavily. She was found covering her eyes with her arms as she was thinking about something. 

"You're so stupid, Jenny. Just what of kind mess have you got into this time? H-How could you even let that kid take the lead? This is unbelievable." Jenny took her arms as she looked at the ceiling with absentminded eyes as she couldn't believe that she was being controlled by her feelings. She was supposed to be an adult but somehow Zach still managed to dominate her. 

"But what really was the deal with that kid? How come he's really good at it?" Jenny rolled to the side while holding her lips. She realized just how she was taken advantage but she was more frustrated upon knowing that she was like an innocent lamb and let him go all the way. With that, she then just remained inside not realizing that her mind had started being corrupted with nothing but Zach's image.
