19 Chapter 19 - Scum In The New World
Looking through the window, Zach found the situation inside the building. He couldn't help but grit his teeth seeing the women being played like toys while whimpering. Such a scene made him furious that he wanted to immediately barge inside to stop them, but he swallowed it in for now as he waited for an opportunity.
Until then, Zach familiarized himself with the position of the men inside so he wouldn't miss a single one and that might ruin the plan. His life was at stake here so he wouldn't treat it as a game however, he did not expect to see someone he was familiar with in the corner crying while covering her breasts with her arms as she looked at the men inside.
Gritting his teeth, Zach waited and waited before finally the opportunity arrived after two of the men got out of the building. He, however, still didn't move as he was waiting for the cue, but he had already positioned his hand and pointed his gun at one of them inside ready to take action.
…Bang…Bang…
Suddenly, gunshots echoed throughout the night and that was the signal that Zach was waiting thinking that Max must have done his assignment. Without any hesitation, he pulled the trigger towards the remaining people inside but since they were alarmed by the sudden commotion, he only took three out of the remaining five.
Hiding below, Zach stays in place for a while and waits for a minute before slowly looking at the remaining men who are hiding on the walls with their guns while shouting thinking that the gunman must have been outside where they have heard the gunshot. Little did they know that he was the one who took out the other three, but he couldn't blame them since he was using a silencer.
Zach could feel the nervousness of the remaining men inside as they held their guns while sweating. He, however, didn't feel any pity towards them as they were the scum in this world so without them knowing, he pointed his gun once more and finally took them out. Following that, he then returned to where Max was.
"You did great Max for your first time." Zach said as he looked at him who were sitting on the floor holding the gun tight with his wide eyes. His body was also shaking which he didn't think much since it was completely normal since he also felt the same after his first kill. With that, he just passed him and went inside the building.
"Hello, I'm Zach. I'm sorry if I have scared some of you but do not worry because I am not a bad guy. Take this and get out of the building. Your parents will be waiting for you in the infirmary." Zach greeted as he looked at the women inside while putting down blankets for them to use.
The women's eyes were completely lifeless as they still hadn't processed what just happened but seeing Zach didn't come with bad intentions, some of them started moving and got themselves covered as they left the building in a hurry.
Meanwhile, Zach looked at a woman in the corner and he couldn't help but feel pity seeing her body shaking while holding a gun. He then just slowly walked closer to her while raising his hand up not wanting to scare her.
"Rose. It's me, Zach. Zoey's twin brother." Zach said as he knew the woman was. She was Zoey's best friend before the calamities happened. He couldn't help but feel bad seeing her almost a victim of rape which only proved that in times of calamities, beauty really was a source of problems.
"Z-Zach." Rose muttered before her eyes finally regained their colors as she looked at Zach who was in front of her. A second later, she then started crying before jumping into his embrace. She had no idea what just happened but she felt like she was now finally saved from those lustful men.
On the other hand, Zach didn't push Rose away as he embraced her tight wanting to comfort her and it was only after ten minutes did she finally came back to her senses as she embarrassedly put on the clothes that he had given to her. Though he had seen and felt how great her two assets were, he, however, wasn't in the mood since there were still important things to do.
Following that, Zach and Rose got out of the building and headed straight to the infirmary where everyone was staying. Without looking back, the two left the bodies of eight men as their blood painted the ground in red.
Meanwhile, Zach never thought that after arriving inside, a commotion had started upon seeing two of the rescued women shouting and fighting against two of the survivors. He then heard from their conversation that it was their boyfriends they were fighting with and the reason for their outrage was because they had sold them to the police in exchange for food.
"Are you telling the truth?" Zach asked one of the women who was very furious while crying as she looked at one of the men inside the infirmary. Looking at it, he had just disposed of abusive police, he didn't mind adding one or two to join them in the afterlife if what they were telling was the truth.
"Yes!" The woman replied furiously.
…Bang…
A silent gunshot echoed as Zach could be found pulling the trigger against the man the woman was talking about. Selling someone you love in order to survive was very sick and he couldn't help but think such kind of people were not fit for the place he wanted to build in the future.
"What about you? Are you also telling the truth?" Looking at the other woman, Zach just waited for her answer but he thought that she must have felt surprised by how fast things happened so without waiting for her to reply, he had already done the work before putting down his gun.
Two dead bodies could be found lying on the floor. Everyone was dumbfounded by what just happened before they looked at Zach who was very indifferent to what he just did. Though they were grateful upon being given food, their thoughts about him being good started to dwindle since what kind of good person would be so cold in killing a human life.
"I have done what I deemed was right. Now, I am planning on leaving this place and heading back to where I have stayed together with my family. If you want, you can come back with me, and just like I said before, I am confident that I can provide you with food as long as you stay loyal to me. I will give you time until tomorrow. So until then, think about it." Zach said before he started living.
Seeing Zach, Rose didn't hesitate and immediately followed him followed by Max leaving everyone in the infirmary in a trance not knowing what to do. They hesitated to believe and follow him since they just saw what kind of person he was in their very own eyes, however, it didn't take long before they could hear a noise coming outside.
Meanwhile, Zach, Rose, and Max were suddenly caught in a situation upon seeing a beautiful woman with long blonde hair looking at them coldly while holding the gun on her waist. Together with her was another woman and a man who were also doing the same.
"It was my first time seeing you here. Who are you?" The blonde woman asked while looking at Zach with caution. They had just arrived and heard the sound of gunshots, so they were immediately alarmed by what was happening.
"Are you in a group with those beasts back in the building?" Zach replied before asking. Seeing that it was only just the three of them, he was confident that he can take them head-on. He hadn't really tested just how good the danger perception of the system was in actual combat since he was not the type to risk it but since he was already caught in this situation, he could only believe in them and his stats.
"What beasts?" The blonde woman asked coldly. Though Zach didn't say it deliberately, she kind of guessed who he was talking about. She then just held the gun tightly as she didn't know what was happening. She could tell Zach was young but there was something in him that was telling her that he was dangerous.
"Those police back in the building who have committed rape against the women in this place. Now, I'm asking if you three were in cahoots with those beasts." Zach answered with his hand already holding a gun. Though the possibility is slim since she was a woman, he would not take his chances and not believe that she was not.
"Calm down, young man! I don't know who you are but drop your weapon!" The blonde immediately said seeing her ready to take action at any minute seeing the gun in Zach's hand which she didn't know when it happened as she was sure that he wasn't holding any just a while ago.
"Officer Jenny, please wait! I'm Rose and this is Zach, he is my classmate's brother. What I am about to tell you is nothing but the truth. So, please hear me out. Zach, Officer Jenny is a good person, you can put down your weapon." Rose, upon seeing the situation, immediately butted in not wanting to escalate it further.
On the other hand, Max was also there holding his weapon while nervously looking at Officer Jenny and Zach. He had just killed a while back and he knew that what he did was wrong but if there was a situation where he would take sides then he would not hesitate to follow Zach after all, he doesn't know them well, and the fact that they were police officers just like those beasts in the building only made him wary about them.
Meanwhile, Officer Jenny looked at Rose. Rose was someone who was not easy to forget since she was like a dazzling beauty amidst the calamity. However, it was not enough for her to put her guard down against a man who was holding a gun.
That was when a group of people came out of the infirmary making Officer Jenny and the other two police with her feel surprised seeing them gathering in one place. After that, she slowly put away her gun thinking that something must have really happened during the two weeks that she and her companion left this place.
After that, a long explanation and discussion happened between Officer Jenny and the rest of the survivors in the place. The faces of the three officers keep on changing upon being filled up from the events that had transpired while they were away looking for supplies and trying to get help from other evacuation sites.
Rage was all over their faces upon knowing what kind of beastly acts their co-police had done however, everything they felt turned to surprise knowing that Zach alone had almost taken all of them by himself since it was completely unheard of knowing that the eight of them were all trained.
Right now, Zach, Rose, and Max are inside one of the buildings in the school. Officer Jenny and her companions Anna and Carl were also inside together with some representatives of the victims of rape especially the two women whose boyfriends have been killed by Zach.
"Is it really necessary to kill them?" Officer Jenny asked while looking at Zach. She could still not believe that the young man in front of him was capable of killing skilled men without feeling anything seeing him so calm and collected in front of her.
"A-Are you for real?! They have been forced and raped and here you are talking as if they did not deserve it? Just like I thought, I would be wasting my time here." Zach couldn't help but feel furious by such a stupid question. If he wasn't persuaded by Rose to talk things out, then he wouldn't spare some of his time with them. With that, he then just walked out seeing this so-called police was still thinking about justice even in this world they were in.
Knowing that she was at fault, Officer Jenny was dumbstruck after hearing Zach's reply. It was only then did she realized what she had just done and she couldn't help but curse. Truthfully speaking, the thing about their colleague's end was already in the past and the reason behind this gathering was for another purpose and yet it seemed like they were not dealing with a naïve young man and lost such a great opportunity.
