29 Could not trust any woman

"Pardon?" the smile of the head maid froze and her face turned stiff. She was not expecting at all that Katherine would say that.. And what did she mean by personally!?

Had she gone crazy completely. Shouldn't she be throwing a tantrum or shouting like a crazy bitch as if her authority had been challenged!

She dared to raise her head and stared into the eyes of Katherine when she saw something was different. Her eyes that were always filled with cold were looking warm. Or was it her illusion?

It must be a new stunt to gain the attention of his majesty, she concluded as she could not trust that woman.

"His highness likes to eat meat more than vegetables. And he had a strong liking for sweet foods.

His favorites are macarons and muffins and cream pie.'' When the head maid continued to stare but did not reply, another maid took her place and started explaining.

Katherine moved her gaze away from her to the speaking one and nodded her head. That was easy to remember! She herself likes sweets too but Luci never liked them so she never ordered them in the past.

Now that one of her sons likes sweets, she could have them as much as she wanted.

"And his highness is like peace. He did not like to speak much. And.." that much he had figured. The kid treats words as treasure.

He was so cold that she felt he did not know how to express himself at all. He should learn from Luci. Luci not only expresses his true thoughts but he was expert in expressing emotions he did not feel at all.

"Anything else?"

"Anything else, your majesty?" The maids had thought that she was just trying to show how much she cared about Len to gain the favor of his majesty and would leave after getting a word or two.

But it had been three hours and they had even told her the design of pajamas Len wears at night. What else should they tell her?

They never realized that talking about their master could also be a way to torment them.

"That… was it, my lady! Our master is a simple person instead of being a crown prince. Haha!" the hands of the maid tickled to wipe the sweat she was drowning in but she did not dare to move leisurely in front of Katherine.

"It is because he stays most of the time busy in his studies too." added another when she saw the frown forming on Katherine's face who finally nodded her head.

"If that is the case, then ask his teachers to come and meet me. He will only have 6 lectures a day."

"........." she stood up under the shocked gazes of the maids as she walked back with her maid who took all the written information about likes and dislikes of the crown prince.

"Jenna, I want everything to be arranged well for both of them starting tonight. They are going to stay here and I want them to be closer to me till the time they leave. So…" she did not know how to say it.

Since the time she had come here, she had never shown any of her weakness since she was worried that others would not respect her and looked up to her. But now.. She was facing a different condition!

"So, I want some advice.. I want to know how to win the hearts of kids. If you will help me, I will give you a big reward. I have heard that you have a son of 6 year too. How do you…" she gulped her saliva as she did not know how to continue it.

The maid who looked startled at first smiled, she was seeing how her mistress had changed and putting efforts.

In her excitement, she forgot that the woman was the empress and hold her hands and flung her arms in excitement as her face bloomed,

"You do not need to worry, my lady. I have a lot of experience with my young brothers and sisters and now I have a son too.

I have tackled all kinds of children and I know a lot of tricks. I will make sure that both princes will be spellbound and devoted to you."

"........." Katherine stared at their joined hands and blinked when finally the maid followed her gaze and noticed that she was holding the hands of the empress casually and even swinging their arms casually. She immediately let go of their hands and took a step back in horror.

"I apologize, your majesty. I just get too excited when it comes to kids. I like them too much. But.. I would expect any kind of punishment given to me. I will.."

"Then I will wait for a detailed chart of advice and tips on my table in an hour." Katherine nodded her head and then turned to walk into her office while she raised her hands and stared at them. As if something magical would happen if she continued to look at them.

An unconscious smile formed on her lips as she entered her office and wrote a few personal notes on what the maids told her.

Though she had not spent much time with Luci recently. She knew too well about him from the past when they shared every meal and she had personally taught him about her powers.

She did not need a maid or a knight to know his likes and dislikes. But if she knew him too well, she never noticed that he hated her and the position of emperor so much.

She still remembered how he was looking at her with pity when he was taking the last breath of his life and was telling him that now she would not be able to be the strongest empire.

"If only you knew that all I wanted to be was a good mother that can give everything to her son!"
