Li Meili opened her eyes and frowned when she realized that she was alone in bed again. She reached out and touched the indented space on the bed where Zhang Jiren slept. It was still warm and new, which meant that he had come home late again last night and had just slipped out of the bed.

She had stayed up until eleven in the evening waiting for him because she wanted to apologize for raising her voice the other night when they were having disagreements about her work. After Tang Moyu came and explained why Zhang Jiren vehemently forbade her to go to her work, Li Meili then realized that she shouldn't have yelled at her husband as he was only concerned with her safety.
