41 Chapter 41 – Confusion

"Renaa!!"

"Cute Rena! Love love love!"

"Party Starter! Isla!!"

"Yo yo yo!"

Everyone followed the music and shouted at the perfect beats.

'For real?' Rai shook his head after knowing the truth behind why she suddenly asked him for a date and was allowed to teleport out. 'Well, it's not bad. At least it's not because of Ossa's strange arrangement, just like I initially thought. I was tense for nothing.'

Knowing that there was no danger involved in this time 'date', Rai decided to enjoy Rena's concert and followed the crowd's movement. As a Magical Girl fan on Earth, he was naturally an experienced wotagei and knew how the dance should be done.

And to support his new friend, the least he could do was to make her concert more exciting.

So he took two small branches from the ground and used his Weapon Creator to make it a shining weapon. Their effects were to shine a certain colorful light. Unexpectedly, only 40 Magicule were spent on it. Nothing was spent uselessly. This was also a form of training to limit his Magicule consumption.

Getting in front of the crowd was easy. He jumped in front of the crowd using his trained body. Once he started to dance with two shining pink branches in his hands, he immediately became the center of attention.

"Hoi hoi!"

Everyone was looking at him strangely. The term wotagei dancing didn't exist in this alternate world. However, the other people seemed to be curious and interested in what Rai did in front of the crowd and were impressed by his jump earlier.

Some of them even made their System Watch create a hologram that looked similar to a shining stick in their hand and followed Rai's movement. In just a few seconds, everyone had joined his lead!

On the stage, Rena and her idol friend Isla noticed the strange dance clearly. They looked happy that the visitors who listened to their song looked happy and energetic. Infected by them, they sang louder and clearer, better than even the studio version of their song!

The happy atmosphere spread around the stage as the listeners also got energetic. But then, suddenly…

"Kyakakakaka."

A loud laughter spread and disturbed the sound system. Rena and Ilsa's voices were cut off, and the music stopped. Everyone fell into confusion at once.

The light around the stage and even in the Fun Building suddenly cut off. Every hologram screen floating around the area also disappeared.

And then, the strange laughter continued to echo in the surrounding.

"Kyakakakaka!!"

Rai narrowed his eyes and put his glow sticks down, erasing the possible light so he wouldn't get to find out. Something strange happened, and it was surely not because of a mistake by the staff but from outside interference.

Possibly, even the sensor and the security measure were off at this time. Without a doubt, it was an attack by a criminal or the other Evil Organization.

'As expected.' He thought as he surveyed the surroundings. 'There is no way I would be permitted to skip my training without something special happening. I guess Ossa already predicted this attack and let me accompany Rena, so I would be here at the perfect time.'

Without transforming, his eyes weren't that good at seeing in the dark. He couldn't see what was happening above the stage, but he could hear footsteps of people trying to run away and shadows of people walking off stage.

'Rena has been evacuated.' Rai nodded. 'The problem is, where did that voice come from? It's echoing.'

This way, he could focus on finding the source of that laughter.

"Where the fuck is it?" He muttered in a low voice as he prepared to transform. But he held it off because he didn't want to be mistaken as the person who ruined the concert.

At that moment…

*Zoop! Click!*

The light returned at once, brighter than before. People had scattered around and ran away. The stage was already empty, devoid of people. Only Rai still stood idly in front of the stage.

Hologram screens popped up one after another, filling the space between the buildings at once and making people panic. There was a gigantic hologram screen in front of the main building, covering the glass wall from bottom to top with an image shown there.

It was the image of a clown with a white face, red nose, blue eyes, and red-lipsticked lips smirking from ear to ear. When he saw that image, Rai immediately recognized it.

'Charlie the Clown.' He narrowed his eyes in caution.

With the criminal's track record, Rai wasn't surprised he could hack into the Fun Building's system and do something like this.

Turning around, Rai wanted to leave the place and watch from afar after meeting up with Rena. However… Once again, something unexpected happened.

*Poof!*

*Thud thud!*

Everyone who crossed the entrance suddenly had their heads explode like a balloon. A red zap and poof sound echoed before that happened, and Rai didn't miss the transparent layer turning into red color when someone crossed it.

'Charlie used the security measure to do something to those people?' Rai concluded.

People who tried to run away suddenly stopped. But those who fell into panic couldn't care less and pushed them, making those in the front row cross the entrance and creating those poofing sounds again as their heads exploded.

*Poof! Poof! Poof!*

"Stop it!!"

"Don't push! We will die if we cross the entrance!"

"Stop!!"

When people in the front started shouting and running back, only then the people in the back row started realizing what had happened. Cold sweat ran over their backs as some fell to their knees in fear.

This was truly chaos.

"Tsk!"

Clicking his tongue, Rai decided to turn around and go over the stage. He had a feeling that this wouldn't be over before the Guardian arrived. And he wasn't sure when they would notice something strange happening in the Fun Building because the alarm didn't ring and the System Watch had no signal.

No one could inform the Guardian about this situation unless they noticed it themselves!

From what he read in the library, Charlie's actions would always involve a large number of people and Guardians. He would make sure his action was known, and only then would he leave the stage like a performer.

So he planned to meet with Rena first. He guessed the staff had evacuated her inside the middle building, so he ran toward it.

But before he could enter the entrance, the door was opened from inside, and a figure of a girl with twin-tailed pink hair exited. She had a deep frown, which softened after she saw Rai's figure.

"Rai!!" She shouted, stopping in front of him. "It's…"

"Charlie the Clown, right?" Rai interjected Rena, and she nodded firmly.

"Yes. That bastard… How dare he ruin my concert!!" Her voice trembled slightly because of anger and hate mixed in the tone. "I will kill him. I promise I will kill him when I see him."

Rai nodded at her, not minding about it at all. In fact, he was intrigued about this situation and didn't really care if people were panicking or not as long as he and Rena were safe.

But it seemed like Miss Clown's hate toward Charlie wouldn't allow him to only observe this time.

"What do you want to do now?" Rai asked Rena curiously, looking at her expressionlessly.

Taking a deep breath, Rena calmed herself down. She knew getting angry and losing control over her emotions would only do bad for her. And above all else…

'I will prove myself.' Rena thought as she was filled with determination.

"Charlie won't show up until the Guardian arrives," Rena spoke calmly as she looked at Rai. "And commotion is something he wants. So I will calm those people down."

"Calm those people down?" Rai asked, confused.

He couldn't understand why that should be a priority. He had known Rena's personality from the first mission. This girl was crazy and loved to destroy something. So the term 'calming people down' was strange to be heart escaping her mouth.

"It's to make him mad." She replied with a big, silly grin. "Imagine. If you want to make a commotion and then your target doesn't do anything, will you get mad?"

"Ah!" Rai exclaimed in realization.

'That makes sense.' He nodded in agreement.

If he played with Ahri and she showed no embarrassment, then that would surely be no fun, and he would be disappointed. He began to understand how Charlie the Clown thinks right now.

'But Rena knows about Charlie the Clown too much. I know she hates him from what she said this afternoon and for ruining her concert, but she just knows too much.'

Her behavior when she mentioned Charlie also seemed to be strange.

'Maybe something happened in the past? Well, that's not important at all.'

What was important right now was to get out of this area or make that criminal mad.

"Then I will hide. Although you've never transformed before, and the first transformation will guarantee you to rampage, don't hesitate to transform if you're in danger. I will stop your rampage if the need arises."

Hearing Rai's words, Rena smiled widely and began laughing.

"Nyahahaha, I know. Nothing is more important than my life!"

"Good." Rai nodded, assured by her words.

That was right. Nothing was more important than their lives.

"Good luck. It might as well be your debut as the transformed Miss Clown if Charlie attacked you." He smirked, running toward the middle building.

"Now you make me nervous!" Rena retorted and raised her hand in protest, watching Rai disappear into the building.

When he was gone, her smile fell from her face as she looked at the big hologram showing a clown face floating in front of her.

"I am here." She said with a blank gaze. "Father."
