16 Unwanted Visit

Grisa and the others immediately moved beside Tuly, ready to fight. Obviously, Lian and Duran did the same, and Carol definitely wouldn't let herself be taken that easily. They might not be as good at fighting compared to Tuly and the others, but they could at least put up a fight.

Yet, it was true that if Grak did attack Tuly's group there, he would at least need to report it back to the City Guards' headquarters. Fortunately for them, Grak was extremely lazy when it came to anything work-related. He would avoid it as much as possible unless it gave him something worth the trouble. "You said the Star Portals opened again?"

Tuly nodded, saying, "You should have noticed the number of Whogelers recently, right? They only gather like that on very specific occasions, and it's usually because a lot of food comes out of the Star Portals. We even saw a few passing above our city in the last few hours."

"Commander, look there!" Suddenly, another guard pointed out.

Grak looked in the distance, seeing that another group of Star Energy Warriors was heading back their way. Obviously, they were returning to the city. It's just that they had a few extra naked people with them. Some seemed to be severely injured, but the warriors didn't seem to care. Of course, Grak wasn't an idiot. Those were definitely more descenders. Not only that, there seemed to be some good chicks in that bunch of descenders that were forced to come to the city.

With that, Grak looked at Tuly and Carol last before letting out a snort. "Count yourself lucky, Tuly. I'm in a very good mood today, so I'll let you take this girl with you. Now go. Get out of my sight before I change my mind."

Tuly snorted in response but didn't say anything. Anyone in his group, Lian, Carol, and Duran included, could tell that Grak was already aiming at the next group.

In any case, Lian, Carol, and Duran didn't like what they saw. Since those people were coming here, it was obvious that they were people from someplace near their college back on Earth. It was just as Tuly mentioned. Descenders were very good slaves. Easy to capture and put a seal on.

Tuly, Grisa, and Hira wouldn't just stand there, though. They quickly grabbed the hands of Lian's group and pulled them into the city. At the same time, Tuly warned Lian's group, telling them, "Don't think about doing anything stupid. There's absolutely nothing you can do for those people from your world. Remember, in this world, might is right!"

Grisa also added, "Pay attention to the Star Energy Warriors scouting those people from your world. Can you see the purple canes that have a symbol engraved on them? That's the mark of the slave traders. Obviously, they noticed the Star Portals opening and went out to hunt. Those are the merchandise they acquired for selling. Do not mess with the slave traders. They might frequently compete against each other over selling slaves. However, when one of them is targeted, the rest will band together to keep the slave business safe. That's how the slave trade here has flourished, and the same goes for other cities."

As Lian's group walked with Tuly's, they also looked back at the gate. One of the slave traders offered the best-looking girl to Grak, who immediately pulled her away against her will to some more concealed corner. Anyone could guess what would happen after that. "This is a truly terrible world."

Carol used the leather she wore to try and cover her body even more, afraid that she would end up just like the people at the gate.

Tuly shrugged his shoulders in response, telling them, "Don't think that because we're helping you, it means we're innocent or good people. We just don't like to owe favors. We caught two more Star Portal Openings in the past, and we made quite the money by capturing slaves for the slave market."

Lian and the others immediately looked at Tuly, who just kept a smile on his face when they saw their expressions. "What? Are you angry because of what I said? That's good! You have to be angry. Don't hesitate. Don't get comfortable. The winner is kind while the loser is the thief. That's the kind of world you're in at the moment. If you see a chance to make some profit, don't think about whether you're doing a good thing or not. You'll be busy enough trying to stay alive while getting money to pay for your own training. You'll have no time to care about others. Understood?"

Duran and Carol wanted to say something against it, but Lian immediately stopped them. "We understand. I won't say we'll follow the same path as you, but we know our place."

Tuly nodded, saying in response, "That's all I wanted to hear."

At some point, Grisa left with Hira while Tuly and the rest brought Lian's trio to their own residence. It wasn't anything special. In fact, other than some terrible beds here and there, the residence was almost empty. Well, at least it did have a good amount of rooms, so it wasn't that terrible. "I hope you like it. Oh, and if you're thinking about why there's almost nothing in here, that's because there's no point in furnishing it."

Lian immediately understood. "If you buy anything for this house that looks to be worth anything, it will be stolen while you guys are out."

Tuly was happy that Lian understood. "Correct. As you probably noticed, we don't even bother to lock the door since it would simply be broken down. Well, at least no one will try to take it from us and get out before we arrive. We might not be a big power in the city, but our small group has enough power to defend ourselves in the surroundings."

It was then that Tuly heard a voice that made his face go dark. "Tuly! Come out right now!"

Tuly didn't look the least bit afraid as he opened the door. "Brolen! You definitely have the guts to come looking for me after giving me that information about the Lizak!"
