7 Chap 7 – Making Friends

My mother would only become the vice president of my school in a month because of some problems.

I have plenty of time to get a friend because of that.

The only problem was how to do it without her knowing.

I started by making acquaintances with various people around the school. Since I had no time, however, I couldn't go out of my way to befriend them.

"It's cold today," I said to a schoolmate, trying to be friendly.

"I'm sorry to bother you, Albert-sama."

So he ran away.

What?

I was just trying to be friendly. What kind of guy runs away from me being nice?

I went to the library after class, since there weren't any classes for me until the afternoon. The librarian there is always busy checking books in and out, so I can talk to him whenever I want, as long as I don't disturb him too much.

"How are things going?" I asked while sitting down at one of the tables.

"You know, the usual," he replied. "I've been working here for about two years now, and this might be the most boring job ever."

When he saw who I was, he started to apologize.

That wasn't what I wanted to hear.

"Don't worry about it," I assured him. "I'm not complaining."

"Well, then…" he mumbled and walked away.

This isn't good. I just wanted to talk to him, but he ran away.

That's not right!

I had to take action. I knew exactly what I had to do.

***

I made it my goal to help everyone.

If I help someone, they will be happy, so it will be easier for me to make friends.

And if I make friends, my mom won't have to worry about me when she becomes vice principal.

I walked around the school helping people.

But they always gave cold answers and ran away from me.

No matter how hard I tried to help people, the more they seemed to hate me.

I needed to get a friend soon because my mother would be vice president soon.

I can't tell my mom that I only have two friends, Amanda and Susan.

She will worry about me.

I need more friends.

***

The next day I decided to start again.

I helped everyone I could.

They all didn't seem truly grateful, but I was still doing what I wanted.

I kept trying to help people until I heard a scream.

"I now say that Amanda and Ster are my wives."

I went to see what it was about.

When I got there, I saw Amanda and another girl being stared at by a boy with blond hair.

He was wearing a shirt that didn't look like a school uniform.

Amanda had a severe expression on her face.

Ster was looking at me with terror in her eyes.

"What's wrong?" I asked.

"This boy is trying to marry Amanda and me!" she cried.

"Why?" I asked.

"He says he wants to make us his wives."

"So, did you accept?" I asked.

"Of course not, Master," Amanda answered.

I see, he must be the bullying type.

If this happened in a past life, I would be scared out of my mind.

But due to my training, I can face it.

"Leave them alone."

The boy looked like he was covered in electricity, and then he used his magic to attack me.

I ran over there with my staff ready because it wasn't every day you saw a kid using lightning magic.

He attacked me from the side, so I kicked him hard enough that I sent him flying into the air.

An electric current came straight toward me, but I blocked it with a wall of ice.

The boy continued his attack.

His attacks were powerful and accurate.

Luckily, I am also strong, so I blocked every hit.

I used a similar tactic in my fight against my father and turned his attacks back on him.

He tried to use his electric magic on me at one point, but I dodged it with ease.

After a while, the boy stopped attacking and stood there sweating.

"Give up already," I said.

"I'm not giving up until I win." He declared.

Then the boy fainted.

Amanda and Ster looked surprised.

"Thank you for saving us, Master," Amanda said.

"Of course," I replied.

"Are you alright?" Ster asked.

"Yes, I'm fine," I said.

Ster approached me, put her arms around my neck, and hugged me tightly.

"I was so scared," she said as she hugged me, "Thank you."

"Not a problem," I told her.

Then Ster released me.

"Sorry, I'm bad with these things," she apologized.

"It's ok," I replied.

Amanda grabbed my arm.

"Master, it's time to go back to class," she said.

"Amanda, do you think I got you to see me as a friend?"

"Probably more than that," Amanda sighed.

"What did you say?"

Amanda's response was too quiet for me to hear.

"Certainly Master."

I went back to class feeling much better.

Finally, I made a new friend.

I should get a maid to help Amanda before she gets tired of me and leaves me.

I'm going to speak to Hyde tomorrow.
