310 Elementals 8

"I am not going to assume that you came here to help me find my woman," King Aldric spoke the moment he sensed Maximilian's presence inside the study. Earlier, he had sensed him coming and was quick to ask his two counselors to leave.

He immediately turned around and found Max standing by the pillar. Only half of his face can be seen; the other was hidden in the darkness. "How is she?" he asked.

"She will live," Maximilian answered coldly. He was dressed in all black, as always; his hand was brushed back up, his eyes as blue as the ocean.

"That is a relief," King Aldric grabbed his coffee and finished it. "I am glad."

"I came to ask for compensation."

"I knew you would say that. Where would you like me to send it?" he asked.

"Give it to my wife," Maximilian spoke. "Send it to the mansion."

"I understand."

"I would not expect anything less."
