If I Could See You Once More

"CEO Wei! Are you heading out? Do you need me to drive you somewhere?" A female dressed in reavealing clothes with thick makeup could be seen running from a distance towards Wei Yang.

Seeing this Wei Yang couldn't help but feel disgusted. This girl who could be seen running towards him is the daughter of Zhao Yubai, Chairman of ZY Entertainment, Zhao Yuyan. Although her looks were only better than the average people, she definitely wasn't anything extraordinary, yet she had still insisted on being an idol.

While she appeared charming and adorable on camera, she was everything but so. Everyone in the entertainment circle would know how arrogant she acted towards other artists and workers because of the fact that her dad was the chairman.

There was once where she had nearly caused a B-list artist to attempt suicide. Luckily the artist's assistant had made it in time to stop her from doing so. When word got out that day, Zhao Yuyan had only laughed disdainfully. "She shouldn't be apart of the entertainment circle if she was this weak."

Catching up to Wei Yang, the heavy scent of perfume emitting off of her could not help but make Wei Yang frown. "Big Brother Yang, are you going somewhere? Why don't I take you and then we can have lunch?" Zhao Yuyan smiled as she spoke in an enchanting tone, changing the way she called him from 'CEO Wei' to 'Big Brother Yang.'

Despite Wei Yang's young age of 25, he had still reached the position of CEO. Doing so had let him see plenty of women much more pleasing to the eyes than Zhao Yuyan, if he was seduced like this, how could he still run a company properly?

Still, since she was the daughter of a big CEO, Wei Yang decided to reply courteously as he lightly smiled. "So it is Miss Zhao, long time no see. Sadly I am in a rush for a private meeting. Next time if there's a chance we should have dinner with your father. Do tell him I said hi though."

Zhao Yuyan blushed a bit upon hearing his words. "A-ah, that's too bad. O-okay then, next time let's go have dinner together."

Seeing her face turn red, Wei Yang couldn't help but want to leave immediately as he got onto his black Lamborghini and immediately sped off.

Today was the 20th of January, the day where Wei Yang would always take a day off. This was the 4th year he had done so ever since he became the CEO. Although no one would know where he was going and what he was going to do, he had always seemed sad on this day.

Driving along the busy streets of Beijing, Wei Yang aimlessly turned on the radio in his car playing one of Jay Chou's song.

"You look but you don't see,

I pretend to myself that the past is insignificant

But I realize I cannot do it,

Having said goodbye I realize,

that I will probably never see you again,

I can't just lose your smile like this,

The lipstick sits on the edge of the table,

But I can no longer find you,

What do you say reversing our roles with each other?"

(Say Goodbye Jay Chou)

Absentmindedly listening to song, tears started streaming down his eyes as memories of her started rushing through his head, from the first time to the last time he saw her.

...

Scenes of raging fire emerged onto the restaurant as pandemonium enveloped everyone. As everyone tried to exit the restaurant, there were two that wasn't so lucky.

Having spent their middle school years together, they decided to hangout and eat at their favorite restaurant.

However, that day was the worst day Wei Yang had faced. Not because of the fire, but because of her.

The flames had already engulfed the first floor by the time she and Wei Yang was alerted so they had no choice but to head to the rooftop.

Standing on the rooftop, Wei Yang could see all the people who fled outside witnessing the restaurant burning.

As the bystanders saw Wei Yang and a girl on the rooftop, they brought out a feeble net which could only hold one person before it would snap from the friction of the jump.

As Wei Yang turned around intending to jump together with her, he felt a strong push against him.

She was non-other than Xu Lian, one of the campus beauties. It is rumored that her family was rich and powerful. She who was on the rooftop was wearing a gorgeous black skirt with a white top that perfectly accentuated her figure.

Not expecting the push, Wei Yang was caught off guard as he fell off the building. Barely turning his head around, he could see the girl crying in tears as she shook her head showing the brightest smile he had ever seen.

The last thing he saw was the girl waving his hands towards him as she was holding her phone before turning back into the building.

As Wei Yang fell, tears flowed down his eyes as he screamed towards her to jump.

Falling down, soon he was caught by the net only for it to snap soon after.

Feeling the vibrations on his phone, he soon remembered that Xu Lian was waving her phone towards him. As Wei Yang unlocked his phone, he saw an abundant amount of texts.

"Hehe, don't cry. I'm sure you knew that the net would snap right? Then... did you know why I pushed you off instead? The action in which led me to be able to show off the brightest smile of my life, did you know why I was able to do so?"

"This isn't a bad thing Wei Yang. Perhaps fate had already decided that the flames would ignite such a reaction from within' me. If such is fate, then I wouldn't wish to go against it even if such a situation happens again."

"Sometimes letting go doesn't mean giving up, but rather accepting that there are things that cannot be."

"Don't worry, I won't be leaving you. I will be watching from above, coming to you like the first snow or the rain in which will accompany your tears."

As if hearing the words come out of Xu Lian's mouth, Wei Yang looked at the fire engulfing the 3 stories high restaurant, his eyes filled with tears as he typed on his phone.

"Why? Why did you push me off? Did you know, there are many regrets I have found within me after you pushed me off? There are many more things I want to say to you.

Because only after losing you, did I realize how important you're to me."

Xu Lian sat down on the stairs crying as she read the text Wei Yang had sent to her. 'Because only after losing you, did I realize how important you are.'

Wei Yang stared at his phone not daring to shift away his eyes as he saw a text come back.

"Wei Yang, can you tell me what your regrets are? Because I also have some within' me." Xu Lian sent a smiling emoji afterwards.

Not giving a reply to her question immediately, he was deep in thought before answering her question.

"I can only regret the chances that I have never took and the courage I was never able to have."

Xu Lian managed to let out a chuckle as she saw the flames drawing near her.

"Before you regret further, do you want to say something for her before she disappears?"

"I...love you. Too often when I loved, I did not say so. I love you."

Tears continued streaking down Xu Lian's face as she replied.

"Don't cry because it's over, smile because it happened. Promise me you will continue living. :)

Farewell, my first and only."

Flames continued to erupt as Xu Lian stood there without the hint of hear as she could see the image of Wei Yang ahead of her as she jumped into the flames, closing her eyes.

...

I wanted to scream out, but I choked on my own words. It was stuck within' my throat as I struggled to breathe. No matter how hard I retched, it wouldn't budge, and when it finally became dislodged, I no longer had the strength to scream out nor stand as I collasped to the ground clutching my chest as if wanting to pull out my heart. But the words she had spoken to me echoed inside my head.

"Promise me you will continue living."

Why didn't I realize earlier? Why did I not say so earlier? Because of my pride? Why did I care about the so called pride? Why she, who had the looks, smarts, talent and background was willing to be friends with me. Why, the moment I wanted to confess I had already grown cowardly?"

Why that one line I thought of ruined the opportunities I could of had?

"It's a losing game anyways, there's no fun in reading something I already know the ending to."

Why didn't I realize the ending wasn't what I had thought it to be?

If I had known...

If I had realized...

If I could see you once more...

....

Being snapped out of his thoughts with tears streaming down his cheeks as Wei Yang continued to drive around, a loud beep could be heard from afar. Before Wei Yang had the time to process what was going on, his body instinctively spun the steering wheel around crashing himself onto the building as he saw blood trickling down his arms, forehead and chest.

Wei Yang could hear all the pandemonium from outside his car as his eyes became blurry.

"Ahhhh!"

"Doctor! Do we have a doctor?!"

"Someone quickly call an ambulance!"

"Hello, there is someone who had just crashed into a building at XXX. Come quickly!"

People started gathering around the car while 2 people tried to pry open the car door. Wei Yang couldn't find the strength to lift his hand to unlock the door as he attempted to keep his eyes open. Yet he knew it was futile.

Wei Yang could not help but laugh to himself. "I'm sorry Xu Lian. Looks like I couldn't uphold the simple promise you gave me. I really want to see you again, just one more time. If I could see you once more and tell you how much your life had meant to me, and how I wish to be the one who protects you instead of the other way around."

Wei Yang gradually felt his mind turn blank as he slowly closed his eyes.
