86 Towards the Precipice part 2

It was a week later when Eve coincidentally met Halesia.

It was on an empty corridor after school.

The sun was about to set and lit everything an orange hue.

Eve was heading towards the student council to fetch Sarien. He said he found a newly opened snack bar near their campus. Of course, Eve did not fail him and directly agreed when he asked if she wanted to check it out.

However, there was an emergency meeting to be held that day.

She's not that unreasonable to flip her face in the name of savoring new snacks. In addition, Sarien seems to look forward to the new food place, similar to her. She then proposed waiting for him instead of postponing the trip. Thus, she took it as a once-in-a-blue-moon event to roam around.

Halesia is a student council member. Naturally, she is required to attend their session.

In fact, she inadvertently overheard Sarien mention his itinerary with Evangeline as he was teased by their fellow officers. After all, the love team Sarline has been a hot topic for a while.

Knowing that her half-sister was waiting for her male God filled Halesia's heart with sourness.

She excused herself by claiming she needed a bathroom break and took her chance to encounter Evangeline.

Fortune must be smiling upon her, for Halesia met her not long after.

She is standing alone at the end of the corridor.

Helesia watched Evangeline's figure being bathed by the golden rays. She stood there silently as she gazed at the horizon. Despite the distance, she can see how extraordinary her half-sister is.

Turbulent thoughts flashed through Halesia's mind agitating her heart.

Halesia has been yearning to meet Evangeline, but now that they finally met, she doesn't know what to say.

Should she ask her if she knew?

Knew that she was her sister?

Knew that her beloved dad have left her and her mother?

But if she learned of her existence, wouldn't it mean she and maybe everyone else would also realize what kind of humiliating existence she is?

That she is a daughter of a lowly mistress?

If Eve could hear her musings, she'll be confused too.

Eve: Surely you jest. Your joke of a mother doesn't even qualify as a lowly mistress. She's simply a delusional nympho who drugged her dad, despicably claiming it was in the of "love".

A part of Halesia is indignant to let the world know how she came into being, but she has longed to be recognized by her father her whole life.

What should she do?

Struggling and confused, she stood absentmindedly while gazing at Eve.

Eve naturally felt her presence long ago.

Not to mention, the gossip-monger Halfsie has been broadcasting everything to her.

She was naturally curious about what the heavenly being planned to do with her.

Hey, she heard this cheap sister of hers has lost a lot of sleep after learning the truth.

Heh, but, despite being restless for days, she didn't forget to manage her fishpond.

Talk about impeccable multi-tasking skills.

A few minutes later, Eve got bored waiting for the heroine to commence the action.

Eve glanced at her, but the other simply gazed back in her direction as if looking through her.

( The hell is wrong with her?) Eve could only ask the furball.

( Maybe she is having some kind of traumatic flashbacks, host.) Halfsie gossiped earnestly, remembering the clichés in the novels it read.

[ wth? what flashback?]

She has yet to inflict emotional trauma upon her being, alright?

Looking at the distance between her and the heavenly being, Eve flinched.

There are at least 15 meters between them, and that's quite a lot of steps.

[Should I go there instead?] Eve pondered for a second before dismissing the idea. Hell, she's too lazy to move her feet. Not to mention, this person on the verge of blackening isn't worthy for her to take a single step. If Halesia wants to do something to her, she'll let her do it. Then, she'll just return the favor.

After all, from the very start, she planned to directly deal with Halesia if and only if Halesia provoked her first. And if she does,

Eve chucked slowly in her mind.

Halfsie felt shivers down its imaginary spine as it saw an evil grin bloom on Eve's face. It was about to ask what evil she was thinking but heard her speak,

(Halfsie, look, that cloud looked like a rabbit riding a skateboard.)

Halfsie: ???

(Wow, it really does, host.)

Thus, the host and system duo got distracted by the weird-looking cloud and completely forgot the heavenly being, who was wallowing in melancholy.

Ryle feels like he is sitting on pins and needles at the moment.

He glanced at the door, thinking if he should excuse himself and look for Halesia. She has left for quite some time now and still isn't back. He is worried about her. Recalling her weird state this past few days made him tense even more.

"Officer Ko, is there something wrong?" Sarien's voice called him back.

Ryle felt embarrassed. Somehow, everyone in the room stopped whatever they were discussing and focused on him.

"I want to be excused for a while. I wonder if the council president will allow it?" Putting aside his emotions, he still decided to find Halesia.

"I'm afraid not. You see, officer Qin has already missed half of our discussion after heading out. I hope you can stay for another five minutes, which is enough to end our meeting."

The remaining freshmen representative wanted to leave. Naturally, Sarien solemnly refused.

Hey, he really wanted to finish the council meeting as soon as possible because his girl is waiting for him, okay.

Still, the matters at hand need to be dealt with seriously.

Inwardly, Sarien chagrinned, wallowing in regret. He should have stepped down as a council president this semester as planned. However, Eve's words, "You're the council president? That's amazing Sarien. You're really a responsible person." That smile. That damn smile of hers as she praised him cemented his fate of continuing as the president.

Now, just look, he can't even accompany Eve every time there is a council meeting.

Fortunately, she even waited for him. Though he doesn't want her to wait, deep inside, he felt such an action too sweet.

So, what can he do?

Naturally, it's to finish everything early and meet her.

After deliberating for a long time, Halesia mustered her courage to walk towards Eve.

Every step she took felt so heavy, like shackles forbidding her to unleash the truth.

She knew full well that once she tells Evangeline of her identity, there is no turning back.

She will no longer be the old Halesia Qin but the daughter of a mistress Halesia Qin.

Such an identity, she finds humiliating, but somehow, she wants to see Evangeline's reaction even more.

What would Evangeline's reaction be if she knew she was her half-sister?

What would Evangeline's reaction be if she knew that her father, who loved her to his bone, have another child?

What would Evangeline's reaction be if she knew that her father cheated and betrayed her mother?

Will she cry?

Will she be angry?

Will she feel frustrated?

Will she curse her and tell her to stop talking nonsense?

Somehow, such a notion ignited Halesia's determination to move forward.

To break that girl's world and let her know that her world isn't so perfect after all.

She felt her feet heavy at first, but the shackles seemed to disintegrate, allowing her to walk faster.

Halesia just wanted to go to her. Go to her and tell her, "Evangeline, I am your sister."
