The Prey

Sure, I've revised and corrected the misspellings in the passage. Here it is:

Hearing the conversation of the parties involved is quite underwhelming, a poor group of adventurers, an arrogant hero blinded by his power, and an ambitious man.

After hearing the conversation, Valthorian, Auriel, and I began devising plans.

"Valtho, it seems to me we need to focus on that man rather than the hero."

"Understood, sir, but do we still plan to eliminate the hero?"

"Of course, even though he may not be the mastermind, as he said himself the hero will get a benefit when he destroys a dungeon core, the same will apply to him."

After further discussion with him and ordering him to replenish the lost ghosts, wraiths, and capture more mutated animals.

"Sir, before I excuse myself, one of my wraithlings reported finding another dungeon. It seems the dwellers inside are of the orc tribes, and they seem to be holding people and forcing them to become laborers."

"Keep an eye on them, gather more information. We will decide after we deal with our current situation."

"Auriel, what is the matter? You seem uneasy."

"Raiya, you seem callous. Don't you want to help those being forced into labor?"

"Yes, normally I would feel quite uncomfortable, but it seems after becoming a Dungeon Master, I started to feel more detached from the social norm. Don't worry; we don't clearly know their situation. Just because I have an edge from my race, I won't enter someone else's dungeon without gathering more information."

After reassuring Auriel that I still remember the advice from that mysterious voice before leaving, to remember the danger of the power we suddenly have. Seeing one of the examples from the arrogant hero and how he acts as how he can easily underestimate someone.

I noticed why every dungeon master was accompanied by a fairy; they act as a voice of moral and reason so we don't walk on a path that we would regret. But noticing not all of us hear these voices, and some will only scoff at them when met with the temptation of power.

After preparing myself, I faced the party attempting to enter my dungeon. I called Valthorian to my office to coordinate.

"Are you sure about facing the hero alone, sir?"

"Yes, I want you to take care of the rest of the party members, separate the hero and his group. After all, we are understaffed. The only person who can personally deal with him is you and me. Don't worry, I will bring all the skeleton archers with me, though they not be needed."

"Okay, sir, I pray for your fortune on the battlefield." Saying with a concerned tone.

Right after both Valtho and I finished talking, the hero and seven others started to venture into the dungeon's lower floors.

"Those three bastards said they only met with resistance on the village ruins."

"Magnus, don't just complain; you're the hero here. Use your skill to immobilize these snakes and spiders."

"Shut up, Tanya, I am busy taking care of this giant cat. How the hell is this b*stard not afraid of my draconic aura."

"Magnus, this is an undead dungeon; they are manipulated by those undead. Use your physical skills to kill them immediately so we can save our stamina to deal with the dungeon boss and the dungeon master."

After the warning from the paladin, they started to unleash all of their skills to clean up the monsters.

"Damn it, we wasted so much time on this floor. Let's hurry up; ahead seems to be an empty hall."

Listening to Magnus's order, the seven of them made their way onto the second floor. When they arrived, the dark empty hall suddenly lit up with the torches on the walls, and there they saw a skeleton dressed in a mage's robe. Its eyes were lit with a pale blue fire.

"Welcome, the hero Magnus, and his party. The hero Magnus may proceed to meet my master, and the rest stay here."

"What do you want, undead? There's no way I would let the hero go by himself."

"My master is fair. If all of you face him, there's no chance for your low life to meet the master. So he proposed a game. Will your hero succeed in destroying the dungeon core, or will you all die here?"

Suddenly, the party was surrounded by ghosts and wraiths, while an overbearing pressure emanated from Valthorian himself.

"Hahaha, interesting. Okay, I will go and meet your master. Don't worry; I won't kill him immediately. I'll wait for you to see him die."

"Is that so? As a gentleman, I will follow your example. May your fortune be with you, foolish one."

The door suddenly opened to make way for the hero to enter.

"Now then, since that is done, let's start our fight."

***

The hero saw a person sitting on a throne, wearing dark purple armor. Feeling irritated because the person sitting on the throne was looking down on him.

"So you're the dungeon master. I'm here; shouldn't you come down and greet me?"

"Okay then, let's start. I already know all I need to know."

Standing up from his throne, Raiya started pulling a sword from the void. He flickered behind the sword in a downwards motion, aiming to cut off the hero's right arm.

Surprised by the disappearance of Raiya, Magnus hurriedly jumped away from his place, grazing his right hand.

'I should fool him into thinking my blink had a long cooldown and save my spatial cut for a finishing blow,' Raiya thought, planning his next move.

"YOU PIECE OF SH*T, I'll cut your head off."

'Hmm, should I suspect he is trying to fool me into thinking he's arrogant, or is he really a fool?' Raiya kept his focus so he wouldn't give an opening.

Suddenly, Raiya sent a death mana-infused sword slash while silently chanting a lightning arrow to follow up.

Seeing the sword aura, Magnus counteracted with an aura slash of his own while buffing himself with a skill. Sensing a dangerous signal from the front, he sidestepped the incoming arrow and continued with a rush forward to Raiya's position.

Sparks from the clash of the swords started to fly. Feeling the strength coming from Raiya, Magnus started to sweat from his forehead.

'Why is he so strong? How can a dragon bloodline be overwhelmed by an undead?' He started to put up a defensive stance to hold on until his teammates arrived.

But Raiya did not give him any chance to wait for any reinforcement; he immediately aimed for Magnus's left arm.

Surprised by the attack, Magnus was one step too late to dodge the incoming strike, resulting in his hand being severed.

Kneeling because of the severe pain from having his hand cut off, Magnus started to scream, "SH*T.....SH*T.....wait, hear me out first. Don't come closer. Let's talk this out. You don't have to kill me. We can work together to manipulate the public."

While looking coldly at Magnus, Raiya

said, "It's an interesting offer, but if I want to manipulate someone, the person sitting in front of me is your uncle."

Hearing Raiya's words, Magnus started to panic and tried to crawl away from Raiya. Suddenly, the gate that was closed shut started to open. Seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, Magnus showed an ugly smile on his face.

"Hahaha, your subordinate is now dead. You will die. TANYA, RICK, HURRY UP AND SAVE ME."

But the voice that came from the opened gate was not his teammates.

"Master, it seems you have finished first on your end."

"Well, it's thanks to you, having you train with me and showing the way on how to control men."

"It is my honor, sir, to be praised by you."

"So, where are his teammates?"

"They were quite annoying, sir, so I decided to devour their souls and let the animals take their bodies."

Hearing their conversation pushed Magnus further into despair and fear.

"No, no, no. This is a lie, a dream. There is no way you can beat me. I have a dragon bloodline. I will be a mighty ruler in the future..." His voice became quieter and delirious.

"That's enough of his rambling. Valtho, harvest his soul. Try to make a powerful subordinate from him."

"As you order, sir. Is there any more you need from me, sir?"

"Is there any update on his uncle?"

"Yes, sir. We already captured him. His uncle is in the dungeon, awaiting you."

Hearing his words, Raiya decided to leave, leaving the throne room and getting back to his true base. The rest was left to Valtho to clean up.

I left the throne room, returning to my base, awaiting Auriel's arrival to meet Magnus's uncle.
