Chapter 6: Rejection

Next day when Mr. Brahma reported to his new office he was surprised since he was stopped by the security staff at the gate.

Security staff: "Sir Please show you ID card and appointment letter for the meeting."

Mr. Brahma explained: "Hi this is my ID card. I am the new typing staff and joined today only. Boss has asked me to report to him from today only, please let me in."

Security staff said: "Sir we do not have any meeting setup with you so you cannot go in."

He explained to the security staff that he was the new typing staff whom the lawyer who was his boss had asked to report at his point of time however the security personnel did not agree to him.

Mr. Brahma said: "Please try to understand that today is my first day. I have to report to him on time."

When Mr. Brahma saw that still the security staff did not let him in, he thought: "okay in that situation let me speak to advocate sir first."

Mr. Brahma dialed the number of the Lawyer and spoke with him.

Mr. Brahma said: "Sir as per your instructions I have reached the office to report to you now however the security staff has denied me entry to the office. Please ask the security staff to allow me entry in the office."

The lawyer said: "Mr. Brahma your application has been canceled and you do not have to report to me. I have hired someone else as a typist."

Mr. Brahma said: "Regards, sir I am reporting as per your directions, sir, as you only accepted my application yesterday and asked me to come in this morning. Do not reject me now, please."

The Lawyer said: "Mr. Brahma, Please stop bothering me, you are wasting my time."

Mr. Brahma said skeptically: "Please, sir, don't treat me like this. Tell me, please, what went wrong that I am now losing this position."

The Lawyer said: "Mr. Brahma, You never told me about the fight you had with Tiger, bhai. He threatened me, saying that my family would be in danger and that I would also have to suffer consequences if I hired you. I have no desire to engage in this. Go now, please, and don't include me in this." The lawyer ended the call at that point.

This devastated Mr. Brahma because he had no idea where to look for work or what to do. He was anxious for work and under a lot of strain, but he realized that Tiger Bhai had sanctioned him and that no one in Rajgarh Town would hire him at this time.

Mr. Brahma came home dejectedly; he did not know how to face his wife as he entered his home and met with his wife with a sad look.

Mrs. Arundhati saw her husband and by the sad expression of her husband she could understand that her husband had got another rejection and was not in a good mood so she did not ask him anything just beckoned him to sit and gave him some refreshments to eat.

Mr. Brahma with a sorrowful face said: "Arundhati I lost today even after getting selected for the job yesterday they did not let me join and rejected the application for a simple typing job."

Mrs. Arundhati said: "Don't worry darling, I have full faith in you. You definitely will be able to get a job, just keep patience and keep trying."

Mr. Brahma said: "You know Arundhati today I have come to know about one thing that they not only have put sanctions on me for getting any bank jobs apart from that they have also sanctioned me from getting any jobs basically in this town. It seems that if I live here in Rajgarh town and try to find work here they will not let me get any jobs so I think I have to leave town."

Mrs. Arundhati said: "However, we will have to leave Rajgarh town and our ancestral house if you obtain a job in another state or town. Bharat also had aspirations to attend Rajgarh College, but he won't be able to do so."

Mr. Brahma said: "No Bharat will study here only and you will stay with him. You two do not have to move out yet only I will look for jobs outside the city and will move out if required. You do not have to inform Bharat about this , he will just get tensed without any reason."

On the other side Bharat and his friends studied for the whole month diligently and made their preparations for the exam and when the exam time came they gave the exams with full confidence since they were all prepared.

On the day of the result Bharat and his dad went together to get the score card in the cyber café.

Bharat did not say anything to his dad however by looking at his face any one could tell how tense he was.

Mr. Brahma said: "Son, what happened, why are you looking so tense."

Bharat said: "Dad it's just that we are going to collect the score card so I cannot help but get a little tense."

Mr. Brahma said: "Son, do not worry I have seen your preparations. I have full confidence in you that you will come out with flying colors. Also the time for getting worried has already gone when you were doing the preparations. Now it's time to chill, the results are already out so relax."

Soon they reached the cyber café to see the score since the original mark sheet will be provided by the school after one month so they had to download a print out of the scorecard from the internet in a cyber café.

The cyber café owner asked for the roll number and details of Bharat to enter into the system to download the score card and Bharat provided his details to the owner.

Once the details were entered his scorecard started to download and it showed it would take ten seconds to download the PDF file and Bharat's breathing stopped and heart beat increased. He could not contain himself anymore and started to sweat after sometime finally the file got downloaded.

Mr. Brahma said: "Let me see first what we have here. Great, you have passed the exam with a staggering Eighty seven percent marks with flying colors. You have made your father proud son. I am very happy for you."

Bharat was very proud of himself after his dad praised him since his dad was his idol and he was praised by him so it made him very happy.

Bharat said, anticipating: "Dad you said you will get me a new watch if I get good results."

Mr. Brahma said: "Yes sure soon a promise is a promise you will get a new watch along with sweets."

They brought sweets and Bharat's new watch back to their home. After learning about her son's score card, his mother was ecstatic as well and gave him her congratulations.
