The Sword & The Spear

"Pick it up! You're not going home until you master the foil." Master Li never went easy on him. The other students went home to their loving parents after every painstaking day at the class. Yin had nothing, nowhere to go. He spent most nights practicing or sleeping. But he was a quick learner, and he grasped many complicated techniques and footwork almost instantly. There's no doubt that he was a natural, and he proved it multiple times. But just like every other person, he's had hard days. Days where he wanted to quit fencing once and for all. But what else has he got other than that? Moreover, Mei would be very upset with him if he did so.

"Pick up the sword and fight me!" Master Li demanded.

In front of him was war. A bloodbath, and his friend, Vegas, fighting back the enemies. She has never faced such an amount against her. It was getting increasingly difficult.

And below him was aid. A thin and sharp pointed sword with a damaged grip, and there were hints of blood sprayed all over it.

"Pick up the sword, Yin Kang!" He heard Master Li's voice echoing inside his head.

And so he did.

With a slight grin on his face, Yin stepped on the battlefield, and now there was no point of return. Barefoot, unarmored, and unafraid. The sword was his only hero.

"The moment you pick up a sword, you become one with it." It was Master Li's voice again.

His steps left bold imprints on the sandy floor beneath him, and his eyes were locked to Vegas. The eyebrows dropped, and there was rage in his eyes as he took each step.

"You! Who do you think you are?" A man clothed in white came running at the tall, half-dressed man.

Yin pushed the sword, which easily pierced through his eyes in an instant, effortlessly. But Yin's eyes were still aimed at the struggling Vegas. He didn't even care to look at the man.

"AHHHWWW!" The poor victim screamed through the war, and his voice paused the entire battle. Everyone turned their heads to look at the man whose eye had been pierced through, and behind them stood Yin Kang, taller than everyone on the battlefield, unarmored and grinning like a mad man. Everyone swallowed their saliva into their dry throats, frightened at the sight of him.

"Yin Kang…" Vegas whispered under her breath after she caught the monstrous sight of his silhouette.

The man's eye squirted blood onto his chest, and he fell to his death as Yin withdrew the sword.

"Who in the fuck is that?" Everyone exclaimed.

Yin walked forth to the burning village, and his figure became visible to everyone. He was no longer a silhouette.

"He's with us!" Vegas announced it shakily.

Wes Grand, the leader of The Band of The Plateau, heard the call, and the battle immediately resumed.

"Roger soldier!" Wes answered.

Yin rubbed the filthy blood off him and swiftly ran through the battle towards Vegas, leaped above her, and slashed his sword against the harsh wind and into the neck of the man in front of her.

His eyes lastly caught the rage of the man with the sword above him before his head went flying in the air, and Yin perfectly landed on his feet after the headless body fell from his sight.

Vegas stood readily behind Yin, with Juno hungry, and nearly another dozen men rushed at them, wielding axes, swords, and spears.

"The black-dressed are wit' us. Kill the others." Vegas informed.

Yin nodded and got up. He prepared to take the power stance, which he was excellent at. His left leg stretched back, his right leg bent forward, and his sword hand pointed at the incoming enemies. Vegas hid behind him during the last second and launched herself into the air with the help of his crouched body.

They were there.

He noticed the front man had a broken armor plate, and so he dodged under the axe attack from him and counterattacked by neatly pricking through the broken metal armor and into his belly, which caused him to uncomfortably move backwards and disrupt the rush. Then he finished him by quickly redirecting the sword to his throat and slicing it.

The first man fell with blood leaking out of his throat.

Vegas in the air flung Juno to the second man in the hoard, and Juno stuck to his shoulder. Yin stood up firmly from his stance, and power kicked Juno far into his body.

"Don't treat my Juno like that!" Vegas ordered.

"I apologize."

The third and fourth men rushed together at Yin and struck him from both sides with their swords, to which Yin responded with a strong forearm block as he kneeled down on one knee. He bit his teeth together. The one on the left quickly drew away from the block and went to strike him from the side.

"Who in God's name are you, fucker?" The man on the right asks.

Before the guy on the left went for the killing blow, Vegas had taken down two other men and zoomed in front of him.

"He's a God himself." Vegas answered for him, impaled the man on the left, and kicked the other to the sand.

Both Yin and Vegas rose together.

There were six left in front of them, frail and frightened.

Both looked at each other and nodded; they knew their plan—three for her and three for him.

Yin gripped his sword tightly with his bloody right hand and ran first. Vegas followed his pace, but a lot faster, cutting the air with such speed, and eventually she was ahead of him in no time, back-flipping herself into her half of three men and kicking two of them to the floor, while the last one crouched away from there and went near Yin.

Yin saw him immediately and punched him away with his left hand. His knuckle reddened from the force, and the man flew elsewhere.

Now his eyes studied the last three in front of him as he ran forth, and they were standing readily for his attack. Yin clutched the sword even harder and rained it on them; the one in the front fell, the others kicked Yin to the ground, and they ran towards his body.

Vegas hurls Juno at them to deviate, but her effort is pushed away by one of the man's hard-polished shields.

Before Yin could open his eyes from the impact, two sharp blades had fully stabbed through him. Both men's faces lit up with a dirty grin.

"Noo!" Vegas cried loudly in despair as she fell to her knees.

The battle came to an end, and everyone on the field was quiet again, staring at the fallen body of the tall man they feared.

"Yeah! Die! You filthy scumbag!" The men spat on him.

Silence reigned for awhile as the village burned, and the cold wind gushed through everyone.

"A God, you say..."

The man's voice was stopped, and there was a sword in him, and it was the one Yin had with him. Yin's eyes awakened with no struggle. He held both the impaled swords in his body and took them out easily.

The mouthy man fell, and the other's eyes widened in utter disbelief.

Everyone on the battlefield dropped their weapons and froze at the miracle.

Vegas stared, speechless.

The holes in his body slowly caved in and regenerated. Yin was unharmed and unfazed.

He stood up, and the poor soul below him gazed above.

Yin's hand got hold of the man's entire face and pushed him.

Wes Grand and his crew members looked over at Vegas, but she was just as puzzled as they were.

"Who are you, man? A Mage? A Ghost?" Wes Grand inquired on behalf of everyone.

Yin turned around and glanced at everyone's faces. He wore a little smile.

"Believe me or not, it's up to you! But I'm a God! Yeah. You heard me. A God! And I'm on a mission, and anyone who stands against me will die." Yin's voice had deepened a little.

The ladies and kids, who were hiding behind trees and broken huts, came out and bowed to him. Immediately, everyone on the battlefield bowed along. Even the enemies. Everyone.

Yin Kang stared down at them, confused.

"No. Don't bow to me. I'm still a human. I'm still a human, just like you all. But a God lives within me as one." He confessed.

Vegas already knew this, but she fully believes him now.

"O' God, we bow to you; give us what we need and help us always." They chanted together.

"You are our true God; we believe in you," They continued.

"I will help every one of you with anything I can; I will stand by you all and assist you. This is my promise." Yin Kang declared.

Everyone continued to bow to him.
