Give It A Go

Xander stood at the balcony of his luxury manor, staring absentmindedly at the twinkling stars above but he was barely focused on the stars at all, obviously lost in thoughts but the footsteps of someone behind him interrupted his thinking which irked him up.

"Lord Xander, these are the details you asked for concerning the girl earlier."

Xander's ill mood instantly dissipated as he turned around to look at his assistant, his gaze diverted to the documents in his hand which were politely stretched out to him, he took them and wasted no time glancing through the file.

"It's said that she's the twenty years old daughter of the late An family, she's currently living with her grandmother and once worked for the WBC company."

His assistant informed professionally while Xander closed the document the minute he was done glancing through but didn't utter a word, daughter of the late An family huh.

Interesting…

"Good job, you can leave now." He dismissed his assistant, Damian who was resting on the swing while stroking a white kitten in his hand finally uttered.

"You still haven't answered me on why you're so interested in knowing that girl."

He eyed his friend suspiciously because the Xander he knows is barely interested in women, he even had to force the young man into having some fun before people start commenting he's gay, he was barely interested in either of them.

His friend was someone who had his mind set on two things;

Success and revenge.

And he's been living perfectly fine following those rules so he had to be curious about Xander digging up details about an unknown girl.

Xander habitually shoved a hand into his pocket, walking over to his best friend who turned his quizzical gaze towards him, waiting for his friend to spill it out.

"She was the girl at the hotel." Xander finally spoke up which surprisingly piqued his friends interest immediately.

"You mean the girl who called you over?"

Xander nodded in response, twitching his lips. "Turns out she was sent by her company to seduce me that night, it was all planned."

Damian sat upright at the unexpected news, she what?!!

"Meow!" The cute white kitten stretched itself in Damian's arms, seeking his attention but Damian was way far from that.

"So she wasn't just there to please you?"

"No, the company wanted to use her as bait to lure me and get us in bed, then blackmail me with the evidence to extract money from me but surprisingly, she didn't even let me touch her like she changed her mind the moment I showed up."

"Did you wear that silly mask again?"

"Silly?"

"Stop wearing that goddamn mask, it's illegal to hide such a face from the world."

Damian queried, earning a death glare from Xander but he was used to it, for being Xander's best friend even before college and staying alive up to this day, he had enough right to yell as much as he wanted at this young man.

Xander had looks that was enough to leave girls swooning over him, he barely had to do anything cause just a single glance from him was enough to make them fall to his feet, yet he wears that stupid mask.

"Anyways you were saying." Damian was still interested in hearing the full gist, his handsome face looked eager in contrast to Xander's foul mood.

Xander was barely in the mood to start a fight with anyone, rather than wasting those strength on Damian he'd find a goon to deal with.

"Like I said she was forced by her company and we didn't end up doing the deed cause I let her go, I got the information after that night, I would have personally dealt with that company but witnessing her act, I felt she's got her revenge already."

Xander was still taken aback by it, he was ready to bring that company down and burn it to ashes but who knew he'd be welcomed with such an appealing sight, watching the little bunny slap someone across the face with a rope and quitting right after, her sudden bravery intrigued him and now, she just happened to have piqued his interest.

"So what next? How are you even sure she'll accept the job?"

Xander's lips curled up slightly into an unreadable smirk, averting his gaze and staring at the dark sky once again like the answers to Damian's question were written on them.

"She will, and if she doesn't, I'll make her do it."

Anxi laid on her bed, staring idly at the business card and the number written underneath it.

"Am I supposed to call this number?" She asked herself while continuously staring at it, Starcrest company was well known and most popular, owned by the most influential man in the state. Just like the handsome stranger said to her, it's a privilege to work there which makes it more difficult for her.

"I'm sure they'll be a lot more qualified people who are willing to take the job, my chances should be pretty low."

A knock suddenly came in catching Anxi's attention and she lazily sat upright.

"Come in."

The door opened, Anxi turned her gaze to the old lady who walked in, she smiled at her knowing exactly why she's here.

"Grandmother."

"My dear, you aren't coming down for dinner, is everything alright?" She asked worriedly while Anxi shook her head in reassurance.

"I'm alright, just tired but I'll be downstairs soon."

"If you're thinking about your job in WBC, forget it, I've always known that place wasn't good for you but I feel much better knowing you already quitted."

"Now hurry up or your food will get cold, it's not healthy to eat cold food and it'll be less enjoyable, I want to see you downstairs in less than five minutes."

Anxi chuckled and nodded her head politely. "Yes grandmother, I'll be there within five minutes."

The old lady finally smiled and left the room, Anxi gazed at the card once more, well it wouldn't hurt to actually give it a go, who knows luck might actually dawn on her, the house rent payment is almost due and hopefully a miracle happens and she'll get a job, even if it's as a cleaner it would be fine by her.

If she worked in that WBC company one more day then she definitely wouldn't resist setting it on fire.

Smiling at herself, she got out of bed and happily made her way down to the dining room.
