Eternal Emperor's Path to Ascension

The Path to Immortality is elusive, and everyone wants to achieve it even if there's only a glimmer of hope. Tian Yongheng is a person who regained his past life memories after his family was brutally slaughtered. His extreme fear of death and desire to be undying have forced him to step onto this dangerous path of Immortal Cultivation. He is not a Chosen One who is the favored son of heavens, nor is he the reincarnation of a Great Emperor. Armed with a unique system of unknown origins and his obsession with immortality, he sets forth to carve a way of his own in this world where fate toys with one's very existence itself and eldritch horror-like beings devour universes for fun. However, can he really touch the illusory, eternal and ethereal Immortal Dao that is everlasting and everchanging? Will he ever be able to reach the end of this grand path to eternity, establishing himself as a myth and beyond? or will he also drown in the long river of history just like many others? ------- The background settings and world building of this story are greatly inspired by Top Tier Providence, Secretly Cultivate for a Thousand Years. the main characters are also pretty similar, so if you like stories where the MC is a hidden powerhouse who, despite being hidden, is still known across the world, then you can give it a try. Please be patient while reading, as this is my first time writing a novel and don't hesitate to point out any mistakes I do in the comments. Also, I'm not a native of China, so there are probably going to be a lot of mistakes in names and history and stuff, please bear with it. Note: English is not my first language and the cover image is not mine.

Farewell

The Favorability Meter, as it's Name suggested, was a kind of function which allowed Tian Yongheng to see how much Favorability or Hatred someone had towards him.

Along with the Favorability Meter came the Relationship Status, which had separate lists of Friends and Enemies. However, it didn't record anything before Tian Yongheng Activated the System. So currently, there was no one in Tian Yongheng's list of Enemies. Though there was Wan Min in his Friends list.

Wan Min had a Favorability of 3-Stars towards him, Which meant that Tian Yongheng left quite a good impression on him.

Of course it was also because he must've thought that Tian Yongheng was a kind Young Master of some big force.

Tian Yongheng opened his Profile Picture, and a Profile Interface appeared in front of him.

[Wan Min: Seventh Level of Acupoint Opening Stage.

A Martial Artist who was considered a genius back in the day, having reached the level of a First-Rate Martial Artist in his twenties. But for some reason reason, he disappeared from the eyes of the world and no one saw him again. He admires and respects you because he thinks you're some kind of big shot belonging to a powerful force, yet you are not blinded by arrogance and stay humble.]

[Current Favorability: 3-Stars]

Wan Min's speculations could've been true if this was a few months ago. Tian Yongheng thought silently.

He then closed all the System interfaces.

He looked at Wan Min and said, "I'm sorry you had to go through that, Mr. Wan."

Wan Min shook his head gently, "You don't have to apologize to me, Young Master." He said.

Tian Yongheng nodded slightly, then asked "Mr. Wan, how long do you think the Immortals will stay here? I have to leave the town in a couple of months. I can't stay cooped up in here if the Immortals don't leave in the next few months."

He looked the same as always on the outside, but he was actually pretty curious and eager to know when will the Cultivators outside leave.

He had to leave this small Mortal Town after he reached the Twelfth Level of Acupoint Opening Stage.

Thus he mentioned the last part specifically so that Wan Min won't stop him from leaving when the time came.

He won't be able to cultivate properly here, and he had to go out to experience the wider world too, even though he would most likely spend all of his time cultivating after finding a suitable place since he didn't have to risk his life for opportunities with his current Cultivation Potential.

He knew the dangers of the Cultivation World.

One could lose their life by a random battle of Mighty Figures if they were careless for a moment.

So, being cautious had to be the second nature of Cultivators, specially the ones who didn't have a background or didn't belong to any faction or force. They were called Rogue Cultivators. Tian Yongheng was also a Rogue Cultivator as of now.

Wan Min understood the meaning and intention behind Tian Yongheng's words as he sighed softly.

"The Immortals will probably stay here for a few years at least. Young Master indeed can't stay that long, I won't put Young Master in a difficult position then. Alas, Young Master must also have many responsibilities and things to take care of."

He said with a slightly disappointed expression on his face, but he instinctively understood that Tian Yongheng's Elders must have sent him a message to come back within the next few months.

He was disappointed because he had never met such a kind and respectable figure amongst the many powerful people he knew from more than 70 years of his life.

After that, Tian Yongheng returned to his room and continued to cultivate, completely unaffected by the commotions outside.

Time passed by like a cold breeze of wind during a thunderstorm.

After cultivating for more than 2 months, He finally advanced to the Twelfth Level of Acupoint Opening Stage.

It had already been more than 8 months since he came to the Willow Leaves Town. He went out of his room and found Wan Min shortly after, drinking tea while sitting on a balcony in the Pavillion's backyard.

He was watching the rain pour down while being in deep thought.

Sensing Tian Yongheng's arrival, he stood up and turned around, showing a respectful gesture to Tian Yongheng as he pointed to a chair beside him and said, "Young Master, what brings you to this old man today?"

Tian Yongheng sat down on the chair and said slowly, "I'll be leaving in a couple of days, Mr. Wan."

Wan Min wasn't surprised by this as he looked calm and watched the rain pour down. He had long expected this.

He said, "As the Young Master wishes. This Old Man can only do so much. Young Master can leave the day after tomorrow without attracting much attention, since the Immortals rarely come out of their respective abodes located a few miles outside the town."

Tian Yongheng nodded slightly.

They both continued to chat for a couple more hours.

Wan Min told Tian Yongheng his many life experiences as a form of final gratitude.

Tian Yongheng just sat there and listened intently about the old man's entire life story, nodding and pointing out questions every few minutes.

Wan Min was flattered and answered him with relish.

This continued for a few hours. After that, Tian Yongheng went back to his room and started preparing to leave, he was satisfied with his stay in this small town.

He got to know about many things and also learned many things from Wan Min, he even learned that there was something going on between Cultivators near this place.

But he didn't want to be involved in it, and he had many reasons for this.

Some of the main reasons were that he was too weak right now. Any random Cultivator could wipe him out without giving him a single chance to resist. But the point was that he had no interest in whatsoever was going on. He had almost everything right now to become a powerful Cultivator. He just had to cultivate diligently and improve.

With these thoughts in his mind, Tian Yongheng lay down on his bed and closed his eyes.

Acupoint Opening Stage Cultivators were still Mortals, even Qi Condensation Cultivators needed to sleep at least 5 hours a week and eat 3 meals a month for their body to work properly. Not to mention Acupoint Openers.

Only after reaching the Foundation Establishment Realm could one be free from this Mortal Cycle.

Tian Yongheng was still too far away from that.

A couple days later.

Tian Yongheng bid farewell to Wan Min and left the town in the early morning.

He didn't know if he would ever come back to this town in the future, or if he would even be alive by then. But one thing he knew for sure was that Wan Min won't be able to see him again.

His Lifespan would end after a few more decades. As a former Martial Artist, he can still live healthily for at least a hundred years.

At the thought of this, another question arose in Tian Yongheng's heart.

After Becoming an Immortal Cultivator and stepping onto the Path to Immortality, will he miss his Mortal life? Will he still miss both his families of his Past and current lives? Will he miss the sounds of laughter after being surrounded by profound expressionless beings? Will he miss the small trifles of the Mortal World? Will he miss the nagging of his Elders?

No one could say, not even Tian Yongheng himself. He had to find the answer himself. He had long chosen this Grand path. He would surely walk to see its end.
