Compensation

Ling Zi looked at the people that are trying to get into the city she surveyed them with her eyes as if she is looking for someone.

Soon Ling Zi's eyes fall on an ordinary-looking boy, the boy's clothing was tattered and his hair was messy, he looked like a bagger no matter what you looked at him an ordinary person would not give him a second glance but Ling Zi eyes shined when she saw him.

She thought for a while then she looked at The old lady Ling and whispered something in her ears and pointed with her finger at the boy, the old lady's expression changed and her eyes flashed with gratitude with a hint of regret as she looked at the boy.

Lin Tian wasn't that surprised when he saw Ling Zi pointing at him but he pretended that he didn't see anything.

Suddenly Lin Tian saw a guard coming in his direction and looked at the guard with puzzlement.

The guard stood in front of the  boy and told him with a respectful tone " Young master could you follow me please, there's someone important who wants to meet you"

Lin Tian nodded his head and followed the guard, as the guard let him pass through the City gate bypassing the people who are lining up to get in.

Soon someone finally couldn't stand it any more and shouted in an angry voice " That's absurd we could understand the Old lady bypassing the line but  now a bagger wants to do this too!!!"

People begin to whisper to each other and begin to complain in a loud voice.

A loud shriek was heard and a man's corpse was seen laying on the ground, covered with blood. Everyone stopped speaking as if their hearts stopped because that man was the one who started shouting in the beginning.

"Does anyone else have something to say? "

A loud shout was heard

People began to turn around, looking for the source of the sound until their eyes caught a muscular guard holding a huge bow in his hand, which made fear penetrate the hearts of everyone.  The man laughed loudly and said " This is the city of high clouds. If you do not have the strength, you are not equal to an insect "

Lin Tian's eyes flashed with confusion as he looked at the corpse lying on the ground, then at the muscular guard, considently the guard was looking at him too but with a brutal smile and disdain in his eyes.

Lin Tian's face darkened as he passed through the gates entering the city but he is not happy Because he knows that this guard was not defending him, but rather he wants to make him a target for everyone's hatred.

This is what humans do. When they cannot direct their hatred towards the person who wronged them, they will direct it to someone at their level or less than them. This will make them feel satisfied with themselves.

The only way you can feel things is when you look at them.  Small was how Lin Tian felt as he looked at the  High Clouds City. Many streets, countless shops, enormous buildings, and countless people.

The guard quickly led Lin Tian to one of the nearby alleys, where he saw Old Lady Ling and the two girls next to her.  The guard bowed to the old lady and left quietly. The old lady looked at the boy a little and said in a quiet voice, passing him a silver ring, "When I heard what happened in the forest, I felt angry and regretful I am sorry for your loss boy, I hope this compensation will be enough"

" Space ring?? Said the boy in surprise as he looked at the silver ring.

This is the old lady's turn to be surprised, but she did not think deeply because space rings are famous among ordinary people too, then she said, "That is true. since you know what is it, there's no need for any further explanations, you can put anything you want inside the ring and it will store it, but you have to put a drop of your blood on it first, Although the space inside the ring is small, it is the best thing that a person without cultivation like you can bears "

The old lady didn't wait for Lin Tian's reply and took the two girls and left. Lin Tian looked in the direction they had left expressionlessly with no signs of gratitude on his face because he knew that this ring was compensation for Uncle Jiang's death and for saving the girl's life.

Even though what happened wasn't the girls' fault but they were the main cause of Uncle Jiang's death after the black-robed men and the giant wolf.
