Can't Get Any Worse

Today, is a weird day.

I'm sitting on this sumptuous sofa, holding my wine while glaring at the guy who's casually having his legs crossed—smiling at me. Those irritating, haughty smile. So full of himself. I can't believe people see him as the "Most Kind-hearted Alpha" or "Beloved Bachelor."

For me, he's a pain in the ass.

It all started when my boss forced me to come to an apartment to babysit his client's cat.

"Let's go to the arcade next!"

My younger brother Beom(19)exclaimed excitedly. Since it's my day off, I decided to take my younger brother out to have fun. Beom has been dragging my butt almost in every spot in the city. We had lunch, window shopping, and trying out some snacks. I told Beom numerous times that I'm not made out of a money tree, but he ignored me and drained my wallet out.

I smacked the back of his head.

"Yah! stop wasting my money, you wasteful brat,"

"Ouch, that hurts!" Beom whined and put his hand on the back of his head, pouting his lips.

I glared at him and pinched his nose. "You love wasting your hyung's money, hm?"

"Aah, it hurts! Have mercy!" Beom whined louder, struggling to get away from my pinches. "You're the one who asked me to hangout. Hyung should've treated me until I'm satisfied,"

"Say that nonsense one more time, and I'm cutting half of your allowance,"

"No! I love you, Hyung!"

Beom threw his arms around me, hugging me righty. I smacked his head again.

Before I could yell at him, my phone started to ringing.

"Who's that?" Beom asked curiously. I pushed his face away as I rummaged my pockets, looking for my phone. I pulled it out and see who's calling me.

"Shit, it's my boss," I groaned.

Beom snickered. He put both of his hands behind his head, then walking away slowly.

"Good luck~"

That little prick.

I took a deep breath and prepared mentally for whatever my boss is about to say. I picked up the call.

"... Yoon here," I answered, trying to hide my disinterest in my voice.

"𝘠𝘰𝘰𝘯, 𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘸𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶'𝘳𝘦 𝘥𝘰𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘳𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 𝘯𝘰𝘸. 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴 𝘐 𝘴𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘷𝘪𝘢 𝘮𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘢𝘨𝘦. 𝘐'𝘭𝘭 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘺𝘰𝘶 𝘢𝘯 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘳,"

And just like that, my boss hung up his call.

I visibly trembled in anger while glaring down at my phone. Beom walked up to me, smiling sympathetically. He puts his hand on my shoulder.

"Goodluck,"

"Fuck off,"

This happened almost all the time. I worked a part-time job at a grocery store as a supplier. But my damn boss kept giving me odd jobs even during my free time! I do need the money.

Ugh, but it's getting on my nerves lately.

I gave Beom some money so he could go home using the bus. Then I use my motorcycle that's parked in the park to drive toward the address my boss sent me. I haven't heard of this address before.

But it sounded like that expensive neighborhood area.

The road, which was initially crowded, slowly subsided because I entered the residential area. The houses are enormous and luxurious. It's making me feel weird. I felt undressed, plus I'm using a crappy motorcycle.

It'll take no time for a security to stop me and ask me to leave since I looked like a gangster.

"Hey, you, stop right there!"

See?

When I reached the entrance of a luxurious apartment, the security walked up to me with his eyebrows furrowed.

"This is uh, xxx apartment?" I asked.

"Yes, what do you want?"

Sheesh, this security is feisty. I pulled out my helmet and sighed.

"Look, sir, I have to get in to meet my boss,"

"Who's your boss?"

"His name is Dam Jung-Hwa. From Freshly Groceries,"

"Hah!" The security laughed. "I've worked here for years and never heard a resident named Dam Jung-Hwa."

"Sir, he owned a grocery store. Not a mall," I sarcastically stated. "If my boss owns a mall I would've come here with a car,"

"Cih," The security glared at me. "You better run along now boy, this is a private area,"

"But, I have to get in!"

"Yoon, there you are,"

The two of us looked over at a short bald man in a brown suit walking toward me.

There it is, my boss that I wish he would get trampled by horses.

The security raised one of his eyebrows and looked at my boss. "This is your boss?"

My boss showed the security his ID. "Business,"

Woah, look at him. All high and mighty just because he had an ID. The security checked the ID, then nodded. He still has this dirty look toward me, but he let me in.

Another security told me where I could park my bike. Then my boss and I walked into the luxurious apartment.

The inside is bigger than a skating rink. Decorated with white walls, chandeliers, and people wearing suits and fancy dresses.

And I'm here wearing a plain black shirt with ripped jeans.

"... What's the job, boss?" I hesitantly asked, not breaking my gaze around the apartment.

"My client," Junghwa smirked at me. "He's an old man. His late wife usually visits the grocery store. He rarely buys stuff from our grocery, but now he urgently needed someone to take care of his cat while he went to another country,"

"..."

Babysitting, a cat?

I have to ditch my fun day out with my brother, for a damn cat?

Yoon, don't hit this man's bald head. Don't hit it. Calm down, keep your composure. Think about your job.

We get into an empty elevator, then went to the highest floor. I can't believe this cheap bald guy had a billionaire client.

I guess it's a good thing to work for this baldy.

When the elevator doors opened, I widened my eyes.

The hall is gigantic—windows on the side, and three doors on the other wall.

"Here we are,"

Junghwa walked over to the door in the middle. He pressed the bell and waited.

I'm wondering if a celebrity lived here. This place is crazy. I have never been to a place like this before. Important looking people— all of them were alphas. Doing business stuff in the lobby, buff guys in suits and sunglasses. Like, there has to be a celebrity living here.

Or a mafia boss.

The door then opened. There's an old man smiling at the two of us. This must be the client.

"Thank you for coming. I can't welcome you properly since I'm going to be late for my flight," The old man said, sighing. He checked the watch that's wrapped on his wrist. Four men in suits walked out of the door while carrying the old man's luggage. "I'll transfer the money at the end of the week,"

"Excellent. Yoon here is very reliable, you can trust him,"

My boss did his business laugh and smacked my back. I only chuckled hesitantly.

The old man nodded his head and patted Junghwa's shoulder.

The old man asked me to come in. One of his underlings told me briefly about the old man's cat, named Mello. Mello is a quiet munchkin cat who's not interested in my arrival at all.

"I know it seemed sudden," The old man said. He gently put his hands on my shoulders. "But I trusted you completely. Please stay here until I return from my trip. It's only a week. Take care fo Mello. I've already provided clothes and food will be delivered daily,"

This is all happening so fast.

I have to stay in this apartment until this guy comes back?

"... Yes sir,"
