"Why?" Ari asked. Her blue eyes blinked with sheer confusion as she questioned, "Why will you be nice to me if I am of no use to you?"

"Because I am capable of getting what I want on my own, duh," Nicolai rolled his eyes as if he were speechless at how stupid the question was. "I do not need to be nice to anyone to get what I want, why will I waste my energy and time acting nice? When I can get what I want with my hands, it's quicker that way."

He paused and then stared at the light blue eyes, "Only cowards and gutless people act nice to those whom they want to use because they are useless on their own."

Who knows what Ari understood from his words, but a second later she sighed and closed her eyes. Nicolai waited for her breathing to even out and once it did, he tucked her in, left a loving note and went back home.

It was time to get his churning bones a rest.
