115 Confessing the truth

Ari screamed inwardly but as she turned to look at Nicolai, she asked in an overly polite tone, "I wouldn't have if you hadn't taken my drunken rambling seriously. Who in the world gives a million dollars to someone just because they asked anyway?"

And though she was speaking in a voice as if she was blaming him, Ari did not look him in the eyes.

"Okay?" Nicolai drawled as he turned to look at the heartless woman. Fortunately, he did not sleep with her or else she would be the scumbag in this situation. She would sleep with him and pretend that it never happened. Not that he would let her slide it under the rug so easily. "It's my fault now? I gave you what you wanted or should I have watched you drown in the ocean?"

It should have been the ocean. It should always be the ocean, in that way, she wouldn't sit in the presence of this man who creeped her out in a way Ari couldn't explain.
