11 An accident

Noah tried calling Ari back. He wanted to discuss the matter at hand but no matter how many times he called her, Ari did not pick up his call.

 Firstly, she was driving.

Secondly, she would rather not hear his excuses and waste her time.

Every time, he did something wrong Noah would either tell her some excuses.

If she didn't listen to his excuses, he would take her shopping where he would buy her expensive gifts like this car that she was driving.

In the three years of their marriage, Noah did not give her---- 'birthday gifts' or 'anniversary gifts'.

Instead, he gave her apology gifts. Whenever Noah was in the wrong, he would bring her an apology gift. She, being the idiot she was, accepted them all with a smile.

'I was the foolish one who believed Noah knew what he did wrong,' Ari bitterly thought. Noah never understood where his mistakes lay. He was only cajoling her because he did not want her to throw a tantrum and alert Grandpa Nelson.

When she did not pick up his calls, Noah realized that she was not going to answer him, so he started to text her.

She ignored the texts as well and was thinking about blocking his number, however, her attention got diverted by the car that came hurtling from the front.

The black car, with tinted windows, was clearly in the wrong lane. Ari could see that the driver was drunk as the car's speed was simply exceeding the speed limit, and it was driving jerkily and in zigzag motion on the road.

Ari's eyes popped out of their sockets, as the speeding car was headed straight towards her.

 Survival instincts took over her.

Before Ari could think, she swerved the driving wheel to the left. Her attempt to avoid the car succeeded, and she was able to escape getting smashed by the drunken driver, who drove away without a care in the world.

But she still ended up smashing into the rear end of another car.

BANG!!

The sound of the two cars crashing echoed in the street. Ari felt her body jerk forward. Her heart was beating harshly against her rib cage, and her phone fell from the hood and slid somewhere inside the car.

However, her phone was the last of her concern at that moment.

In fact, she did not even have the slightest concern about her ringing phone at the moment. At that moment, Ari was only staring at the four gold stars above the car's number plate and felt all the blood drain from her face.

She knew this car all right. In fact, if she did not know about this car, then she would have been declared an alien by the residents of this city or the entire world.

If Ari was not wrong, this was the limited edition car manufactured by the company Ford's Era and since it was limited edition, it cost a whole whopping ninety million!

'Damn, am I going to fall into debt after divorcing without any alimony?' Ari paled at the thought. She pressed her forehead on top of her hands clutching the steering wheel.

"Stupid. Stupid, I am so stupid," Ari groaned as she lightly banged her forehead on the back of her hands. She did not even have nine hundred dollars in her account, much less ninety million dollars, how was she going to pay for this damage?

No, maybe she would be able to escape this debt. This car was a limited edition, right? Surely, it must have only received a few scratches. She couldn't pay the whole sum, but she could still think of a way to ——

THUD!

Ari did not even get a chance to cling to her hopes as the rear bumper of the limited edition beauty fell on the ground.

Ah, f*ck! She was truly f*cked for good.

A sudden movement came from her side and she felt her heart tighten as the driver of the car in front of her strode towards her car. He came to a stop next to the driver's side and knocked on her window harshly, she heard him curse,

"Damn you, are your eyes just for show? How did you not notice this big a*s car in front of you?"

Ari's hands trembled, and her heart clenched, she was ready to run away and move from the centre of danger while pretending that she did not just run into an accident before smashing into a gangster's car.

And no, Ari was not judging the man because he cursed at her but because he had many scars on his face and tattoos on his arms. He was dressed, even funnily, in a completely black suit and pants with a white shirt like an undercover agent.

By no means, he was just an ordinary man.

The man banged on her window once more, causing Ari to jump in her seat.

Run.

Run.

Run!

Her heart was telling her to run, but Ari was responsible enough to not run away from her problems.

Though her anxiety objected and raised petitions that she was being a fool and this was not the time to play hero, Ari ignored it and pushed the door of her car open while trembling.

"I...I am sorry," she said to the man, who stepped away when he saw that Ari stepped out. Ari apologetically lowered her head and then said, "I will think of a way to pay for it——"

"Hah. Do you think that you can pay for this car while you are driving a run-down Folks Wagon?" The man with tattoos sneered as he glared at Ari. "Do you even know the price of this car, lady? This is a personalised vehicle with additional features. It's well over two billion, do you think you can afford it?"

Ari's face, if possible, went even paler. She could not fathom why anyone would pay so much money for just a car, but then again, there were people of all kinds of people.

It was just her misfortune that she ended up entangled with the most dangerous kind.

"I…" she wanted to say that she would think of a way, but her words came to a halt.

The man glaring down at her also retracted his fierce aura as a tall and broad man stepped out of the car.
