CH03. FAMILY

[I believe it is time you left, young one. You seem to be in a bit of trouble]

'Eh, what sort of trouble?'

"Zero! What do you think you're doing!!!!!!!"

'Shit'

Zero was suddenly forced out of his inner world when his body was disturbed on the outside. He opened his eyes and the first thing he saw was the enraged ones of his mother

"What is the meaning of this Zero!? This isn't some toy you can play with, it is extremely expensive!"

Lucy looked down at zero with extreme disappointment on her face. She came into the library looking for him because it was time for his classes but she never expected to find him with an important scroll torn up on his lap

Her husband on the other hand had a completely different reaction

"Oh my god! Did you see that Lucy?!! He was cultivating!"

Zahir ran towards Zero and grabbed him off the floor into a bone-crushing hug. This was the pride of a father who had just seen his son do something so difficult as though it came naturally to him.

"He actually had his chi surrounding him! It was as though the universe itself wanted him to become a mage!!"

The man was basically glowing with pride at his son, while also not looking to see his wife's disappointed frown

"Zahir, you can't keep pampering these boys like this. This scroll cost money! A lot of money!"

"Haiz~"

Zahir sighed and dropped zero back on the floor. He knew his wife wouldn't be happy if he didn't at least punish zero a little

"Okay, Lucy. We'll make sure he doesn't have any of those sweets he really likes for the next week"

He rose his hand when Lucy was about to retort and smiled lovingly at her

"I know you're only trying to help them be more responsible honey. But he's just a child, they always make mistakes"

"Haiz~, fine, no sweets for a week zero"

Zero looked to be the epitome of calm on the outside as he simply sat there and looked at his mother with a sad face. But on the inside...

'Nooooo, not my sweets!!!! Those sweets are all I could look forward to every day, they were divine in every way!! Please don't take away my sweets!'

Zero was reduced to a sobbing mess at the removal of his sweets. If he didn't have his sweets then how was he supposed to survive!

He would always get cranky without his sweets!!

Back outside, Lucy left the library to attend to other business, leaving Zero with his father who knelt to his level on the ground

Zahir made zero look to him before asking:

"What exactly were you doing here zero? I want you to tell me the truth"

Zero couldn't tell him the truth even if he wanted to. He didn't know how his father would feel about his son contacting a century old mage to ask for advice, but he also didn't want to lie to his father.

In the end, he simply decided to twist the truth

A lot

"I dunno. I just wanted to play, but the scroll kept pulling me. So I picked it"

'Amazing! He's so in tune with his cultivation that the scroll of bezel recognized and drew him to itself!'

Zero's father was looking to zero with stars in his eyes. He picked his son and held him high above his head.

"Don't worry zero, I won't let your extraordinary abilities go to waste. I'll make sure you have the best teachers and trainers that money can buy! I'll even train you myself if you want me to."

Zahir was obviously enthusiastic about his sons ability to cultivate so early. He had already begun thinking of means to ensure that zero had the best teachers training him in the art of magic.

'I would have to ask my good friends to come to find out zero's affinity for spells. I also have to make sure his brothers look after him should he ever plan to go to the Sanctuary. In fact I think I a!ready have a training regime in mind for him! Hahaha!'

But zero was far less enthusiastic.

'Teachers? Trainers? Why would I need such things?'

With the amount of knowledge and skills zero had accumulated in his last life, he knew that there would be no person alive who could teach him something he didn't already know

The teachers would probably only try giving him lessons for the first three days before they go crazy from the questions he would ask them

The trainers would never be able to even get a glimpse of the potential held within him.

He had transmigrated not only with the skills and knowledge he accumulated, but also with the soul he possessed at the peak of his life.

'The soul-power I had was more than enough to hold a god in submission. I would scare lesser deities away by simply letting lose my full aura. If the trainers can teach me anything new on how to train the body and soul, then I'll eat my own head!"

Zero was very confident in the abilities he had gained. He worked very hard for all of it, and he knew that he would have to gain it all back before long.

It was the only way he could protect those he held close to him

'I have to begin my training very soon. The monster invasion -- or rather the 'Seige' will definitely happen again. The last time, I was in my second year in the Sanctuary School for Mages and I was so weak that I wasn't able to do anything to help anyone. I'm not so weak right now. This time. I'll save everyone.'

Zero strengthened his resolve and prepared himself for the road ahead. There would be no lives lost on his watch or his name wasn't Zoro-- I mean Zero!!

But there was still something that could destroy all his plans. He realized that he really didn't know how to go about moving forward on all this.

'I don't know exactly what caused the seige, nor do I know exactly where the monsters came from. So the best I can do is to be strong enough to repel it when it arrives'

'But to do that, I will need to have as much privacy as possible. I can't have everyone thinking I'm some sort of prodigy who they need to flock around or please, so I need to downplay my skills a lot'

Zero was making plans in his mind on the best ways to trick people into believing he was just an average mage. It would take a lot of effort, but he would have to try it.

"Okay, Zero. I'll start up your training once I feel your body is strong enough to take in the natural Chi of the world without breaking under pressure. Now let's go for your classes before your mother comes back and throws a shoe at me again!"

"I don't think that should be normal dad. Do all wives throw shoes at their husbands?"

"No Zero. It is not normal at all, your mother is a one of a kind crazy woman"

"I heard that!!!"

'Shit'

Zahir put Zero back down and quickly began leading him out of the room in a hurry.

Inside his head, zero was laughing up a storm.

'Oh Dad, you're so whipped'
