Arrival at Henet

It's alive.

----------

Among the rocks on the hill is a giant, occupying a large territory. This giant is the most fortified city, the so-called "Second line of defense". The name of this city is "Henet", a walled city.

Once, during the war with the Kingdom of France, it was a stronghold and became a place for those who lost their home. But times change and the former glory falls into the darkness of the abyss, quickly sinking deeper and deeper.

"If I had immediately understood what kind of city it was, I would definitely not have poked my head here. Damn my disregard, I want to hit myself. Does Lady Destiny want to kill me, I slept with her in the past and refused to marry? " - looking at the great walls of the walled city, I complain.

Why did I decide to groan?

It all started three days ago. I sat quietly, did not touch anyone, ate camp food, and enjoyed nature. Then I heard the children discussing the city and decided to overhear. They talked about the danger and what is hidden in the darkness, and then the realization came to me of what kind of ass I was in.

Henet is the second city from the border with the Kingdom of France. During the war, it served as a stronghold and the second line of defense, therefore it was incredibly fortified. But a century later, rabble and criminals began to accumulate in this city, gangs were created and illegal affairs were conducted.

At first, they acted openly and created chaos, but the church calmed down and they ceased to operate during the day when the church is active. Therefore, when night comes all the "rats" crawl out of their holes and wreaks havoc: robberies, murders, abductions, and so on.

Why do I think Lady Destiny wants me dead?

This is a great question. All these five days that I spent getting to the city, the bald asshole made mean things to me, he acted like an offended child: he didn't give me food, threw stones when I slept, there was even a case when he wanted to urinate on me. But after that, his tent was burned. Who did it?

Well, these are harmless games of a little two-meter bald asshole, just fun. But sometimes I really felt his intent to kill, especially when his tent was on fire.

So far, there have been no attempts on my life, there are several options why. But the most truthful for me is that they will check the presence of all people. After all, if you lose a weapon, you will be asked about the reason for its disappearance. Or he just wants to use me in dirty deeds and throw me out, also a true version.

If a person disappears in a city full of crime at night, no one cares. That's why I think Lady Destiny wants to kill me. It's good that the bandits didn't attack us because of the symbol of the church, otherwise, I would have "accidentally" died. A mythical creature could also have attacked, but the Goddess of Luck is with me for now.

At the moment I am in the territory of the church of the city of Henet and it more than a church resembles a military one. Guards are walking, there are almost no monks.

And then, having descended the uncomfortable carriage on solid ground, I felt an unforgettable pleasure after a long journey. Bliss.

But even such a beautiful moment was ruined by an incredibly disgusting voice for me.

"Everyone gather and line up." - standing beside me shouted Meris Forz.

[Why are you screaming around me?]

Noticing my displeased look, he looked at me and said with a nasty smile:

" Welcome."

After this short phrase, he turned around and left, but goosebumps ran down my spine.

[Heck. It's unpleasant to know that I'm like on death row.].

After the under-commander left, a rather young guy approached our cheerful group of squires (for the rest of the Six).

"Hello, newbies. I was ordered to show you everything here and put you in the barracks. All over me."

A stranger, after a short acquaintance, took us, children, around the neighborhood (watch without SMS and registration). We were shown the landscapes of sweaty exercising men (* started hachimuchi *), the church is half-destroyed, and the surroundings included in this fortress, "church territory", we were not taken outside of it. As this stranger said:

"The squires, without the order of the commander, are prohibited from leaving the territory."

I feel like a prisoner in a prison.

After such a short walk we were finally taken to a building intended for squires, in simple words "dormitory", even easier "orphanage".

At first, I thought that we would be accommodated by several people in one room, but the conditions turned out to be much better than I expected, each of them was assigned their own room. All the rooms were the same, inside there was a single bed, a large wooden cabinet, simple to look at, an ordinary chest, torches, and a notch in the wall, like a small fireplace in which a stone lay.

This stone was a fairly common mineral called "Nifir" intended for heating rooms in the homes of nobles, there are other uses, but this is the main one. Although it can be found in large quantities, it is still a luxury for commoners, among them the owners are miners or the lucky ones. The mineral itself is a thermal battery that accumulates thermal energy, when it is hit, it starts to generate heat, if it gets wet it stops doing it. Temperature changes depending on the purity of the mineral and its size. An ingenious creation of nature, a portable heater.

"It's amazing that I don't live in a stable."

I thought that they would put me in a stable or a pigsty, for such an attitude towards the commander. It's good that the fat man didn't come up with such an idea.

In general, I thought that I would die when I was going to Henet, because a bald commander and not a simple commander, but a commander of magic knights. The fact that my head did not separate from my body during the trip can be called luck.

"I wonder what he will teach us."

I began to lay out my things, waiting for tomorrow in the hope of fun.
