11 Chapter 11

In almost every class, there's a student like Lin Miaomiao. Her grades might not top the charts, but her brain is bright. And being admitted to Elite High School is living proof that she's got something special.

Today, Lin Miaomiao is nervously waiting in front of the big LED screen. The results for club recruitment are about to be announced, and the tension is noticeable among the students gathered there.

She anxiously bites her nails on her thumb. Miaomiao felt a hand brush her head. "Don't be nervous too much; I know you'll make it," a familiar voice reassures her. She relaxes a bit. "Do you think I'll get into the radio station?" she asks, but her nerves are still a little tense.

Ye Bai offers a reassuring smile. "Have confidence in yourself. We've practiced, haven't we? And the way the club manager looks at you says it all."

Lin Miaomiao trusts Ye Bai's judgment. As the radio station list appears on the LED screen, she focus her gaze, barely blinking. And there it is—her name.

"Lin Miaomiao, Lin Miaomiao, I made it! Yes! Yes!" she exclaims, bouncing with joy while clutching Ye Bai's arm.

"Congratulations," Ye Bai says with a smile, sharing in her excitement.

Lin Miaomiao's nerves settle a bit, and she suddenly remembers that Ye Bai also applied for the radio station. "How about you? Did you make it? I was so focused on finding my own name."

Of course, Ye Bai's name is on the list too. The radio station exam was straightforward—just read the script aloud from the paper. With a quick glance, he had it memorized. The club manager was impressed by his clear and melodious delivery. The 50-point attributes of singing are really powerful.

"I made it too," Ye Bai replies.

Lin Miaomiao beams. "Congratulations to you too!"

"Thanks," Ye Bai responds.

Lin Miaomiao extends her hand. "Xiaobai, we'll be colleagues from now on."

Seeing her adult-like expression, Ye Bai smiles, follows through, and extends his hand in return.

...

Qian Sanyi was passing by the library when he caught sight of Lin Miaomiao jumping happily in front of an LED screen. He didn't know why, but he unconsciously smiled and then frowned at his actions. Shaking his head, he turned away and continued walking into the classroom.

...

Time passed very quickly, and in the blink of an eye, it was the day Lin Miaomiao and Ye Bai were on duty at the radio station. Lin Miaomiao looked at the watch in her arms and started tidying up her desk.

"Excuse me, Teacher, I have a shift at the radio station today. Goodbye," Lin Miaomiao announced, giving an exaggerated bow to Teacher Zhang Rongbao. Before Teacher Zhang could respond, Ye Bai stood up too.

"Sorry, Teacher Zhang, I'm also on duty at the radio station. Goodbye," he added, following Lin Miaomiao out of the classroom.

Teacher Zhang's gaze lingered on the 2 departing students before he turned back to the class. "What are you all staring at? If you think you can handle it, apply for the radio station. Stop gawking and focus on your studies."

Outside the classroom, Lin Miaomiao couldn't contain her excitement. "Did you see the envy and sadness in our classmates' eyes? I used to think they were like learning machines, aliens, but now I see they're just like us, with human emotions. And Zhang Rongbao's expression was priceless!"

Ye Bai cautioned her: "Lower your voice. We haven't gone far yet. We don't want Teacher Zhang to overhear."

Lin Miaomiao quickly covered her mouth, but her laughter still slipped out.

Suddenly, she reached out and took Ye Bai's hand.

Ye Bai looked at her in confusion. "What are you doing?"

Lin Miaomiao looks confused: "What? We will go to the canteen." And then she looked at her hand holding Ye Bai; now she understood his reaction.

"We held hands like this when we were kids; it's not a big deal." But Lin Miaomiao still let go of Ye Bai's hand and walked a little faster.

Ye Bai also followed her lead; he didn't notice Lin Miaomiao's ears were turning red.

Ye Bai did not mind holding Lin Miaomiao's hand in the first place because they were childhood friends, and yes, they held hands when they were kids. But it's different now. They are in school; what if some teacher sees them?

He also knows that on the TV. Show Lin Miaomiao is innocent and doesn't indiscriminate whether you are a boy or a girl. As long as you want to be friends with her, she will accept you. That's why she was friends with Jiang Tianhao and Qian Sanyi. She is also a little stupid in love because she doesn't even know how to fall in love. He remembered the senior who tried to take advantage of Lin Miaomiao in college because he knew that she didn't have any experience in relationships.

He stared at the girl in front of her and felt melancholy in his heart. He can't protect this girl in college because he only has four years in this world. He made a silent vow to himself to protect her and help her understand the boundaries between boys and girls.

Lin Miaomiao turned around and said, "Why are you so slow? Move a little faster."

...

When the two arrived at the canteen, the large dining area was indeed empty.

When Lin Miaomiao saw this scene, she trotted forward to the counter to get the food.

"This is the blessing that I desire."

While holding the lunch box full of food. This lunch was paid for by Ye Bai, as he promised every duty of the radio station.

"Okay, let's go to the radio stations; we will be late if you dilly-dally here for long."

Lin Miaomiao checked the watch on her wrist. "Oh, you're right." She placed her lunch at the top of Ye Bai's lunch box.

Because Ye Bai helps Miaomiao carry her lunch box, it's much easier for her to run. Lin Miaomiao then led the way to the radio station.

As soon as she entered the broadcasting room,  Lin Miaomiao sat in her chair professionally.

Once inside the broadcasting room, Lin Miaomiao wasted no time in taking her seat, already adopting a professional demeanor.

"Xiaobai, bring our lunch over here," she instructed, tapping a spot beside her desk.

Ye Bai complied, placing the lunches on the desk before playfully knocking Lin Miaomiao's head. "I treat you and carry your lunch, and yet you still boss me around. Miss Lin Miaomiao, believe it or not, I'll blow your head off," he teased.

Rubbing her head sheepishly, Lin Miaomiao stuck out her tongue. "Hehe, my bad. I'm sorry, Brother Bai. Don't be mad at me."

Seeing her silly expression, Ye Bai couldn't help but chuckle. "Okay, let's focus on preparation first. We can eat after the broadcast."

Lin Miaomiao agreed, suppressing her hunger as she glanced at the tempting food beside her. "Right, right, work first, then food."

With determination, she began setting up the broadcasting equipment, following the instructions given by the club manager.

Observing Miaomiao's busy figure, Ye Bai couldn't help but admire her dedication. Despite initially wanting to spend free time at the radio station, Lin Miaomiao took her responsibilities seriously.

"Elite High School, this is our first time; the next song is [Stubborn by MayDay]."

After their first broadcast, Lin Miaomiao switched off the mic and settled into her seat, gesturing towards the bunch of food on her desk. "Braised pork, 2 chicken drumsticks, stir-fried broccoli, scrambled eggs with tomato. Now, this is what I call balanced nutrition—a perfect combination of meat and vegetables."

Ye Bai couldn't help but stare at the petite girl beside him and the mountain of food on her plate. He was curious about where all that food was going.

"Hey, Xiaobai, I don't like the way you look at me like that," she teased.

"How come you didn't gain weight even though you eat that much?" Ye Bai asked, genuinely curious.

Lin Miaomiao simply shrugged and popped a piece of braised pork into her mouth. "I guess I got lucky with good genes. My mom is always slim, no matter how much she eats. Luckily, I inherited that from her."

Ye Bai wiped his mouth with a paper towel and began tidying up the desk.

"Aaahhh! Satisfaction!" Lin Miaomiao sighed contentedly, enjoying the music playing in the background and gazing out at the clouds outside the broadcasting room window.

Loudspeaker:

"~Just this time, let me sing loudly,

Lalala, Lalala, Lalala,

Even if you're disappointed,

You shouldn't be hopeless.

Lalala, Lalala, Lalala,

Just this time, I have my stubbornness~"
