Chapter 15

When they were kids, this was the place where they hung out. Miaomiao is the leader of the duo, and she always tells him to call her 'Big Brother Miaomiao'. As a kid, he always followed Miaomiao everywhere. Ye Bai right now is a little confused; he doesn't even know where his real timeline is because of the memories in his mind. 

Lin Miaomiao excitedly ran to the playground near their house. Ye Bai told her that they would meet at their usual hang-out place. 

Lin Miaomiao wears a simple light purple shirt and jeans. When she stepped onto the playground, she immediately saw Ye Bai waiting at the usual spot where they played when they were kids. 

Lin Miaomiao froze a little when she gazed at the familiar yet unfamiliar childhood friend in the distance. 

His standing posture and his outfit are really handsome. 'How did this guy become so awesome? ' 

Lin Miaomiao checked herself and the outfit she wore; she also touched her short hair, and she felt conflicted. She doesn't know why, but it makes her a little uncomfortable. 'I should dress up a little.'

While Ye Bai is reminiscing about some memories here in the playground, he sees Miaomiao standing at the entrance of the playground. 

"Miaomiao!" He smiled and waved at her.

Lin Miaomiao's heart skipped a beat when he saw his smile. She unconsciously waves to Ye Bai and runs towards him. 

"Xiaobai, you look awesome right now" Lin Miaomiao ignored her feelings and greeted her lightheartedly.

"Just 'right now'? I thought I was always awesome," Ye Bai teased with a playful grin

"Miaomiao laughs. "So, where should we go, Mr. Always-Awesome?" Miaomiao asked, playfully teasing Ye Bai.

"Let's go to the cinema. I want to watch a movie, then after that, let's eat." Ye Bai suggested. He wanted to experiment with his enhanced memory while watching the movie.

"Let's sit here for a while I run here after I leave the house," Lin Miaomiao explains.

Ye Bai took out a handkerchief in his pocket and started wiping some sweat on Miaomiao's forehead.

Miaomiao looks weirdly at Ye Bai's action, and she feels hot on her face. She snatches the handkerchief from Ye Bai's hand and starts wiping her face.

Ye Bai is also shy about what he does. Sometimes it's hard to change what you used to do. It's a subconscious reaction when you see your sibling sweating. When he was in Bluestar, Jinmai's mother took him sometimes when they were shooting the movie 'Balala the Fairies'. This was the time when the world of the entertainment industry opened to his life. He worked as Jinmai's free assistant because they were friends at that time. He wiped Jinmai's face when she was sweating or taking out her makeup. Even though he was not an assistant anymore, he was used to doing it. Until she had Zifeng, he stopped doing it.

He stood up and walked to the vending machine near the playground. He should buy cold water but realizes that Lin Miaomiao's 'Aunt' is coming these days. He changes to a room-temperature drink. 

"Miaomiao catch!" Ye Bai throws the drink to Lin Miaomiao. 

Miaomiao catches panickly. "Why are you throwing things suddenly?" She looked at the drink and asked, "Why didn't you pick some cold drinks?"

Ye Bai didn't know what to say. 'Because your 'aunt' is coming. How do I know? I watch it on a TV show.'

"I think it's not good for you to drink cold water this coming week," Ye Bai responded casually.

Lin Miaomiao rolled her eyes and didn't believe what Ye Bai said. "Come on, I had enough rest."

They started to walk when Miaomiao asked him. "Xiaobai, when will your parents come back?"

Ye Bai: "Maybe next semester my mom will come back first. They said the business is growing in the states."

"Does your family want to stay in the States? Lin Miaomiao asked curiously.

"I don't know, but my priority right now is to enjoy and finish high school."

Lin Miamiao feels a little sad she thinks Ye Bai is going to state. 'He is my childhood friend, maybe my first best friend,' she thought. Looking at Ye Bai, who was walking in front of her. She felt a little sad if ever he left.

Ye Bai looks at Lin Miaomiao, who is walking behind him. 

'This isn't like Miaomiao on the TV show why she's so silent.' to ease the awkwardness. He stops walking. Lin Miaomiao, who's in deep thought behind Ye Bai, bumped into him.

"Ouch! Xiaobai, why did you stop suddenly?" Then she started hitting Ye Bai back with his little fist.

Ye Bai started to smirk. He messed up Lin Miaomiao's hair. "This is Miaomiao that I know," he said, starting to run.

She was angry at the way Ye Bai messed up her hair and chased him. She forgot what she was thinking and why she was sad. The only thing on her mind is to destroy the hateful guy who messed up her hair.

When they got to the cinema, they checked the movie that was showing.

"Look, Xiaobai, I want to watch 'Wolf Warrior'; that is Wu Jing's movie." Miaomiao pulled Ye Bai's clothes.

He doesn't mind, so he agrees to Miaomiao's request. 

Lin Miaomiao excitedly found a very good seat to watch the movie. He follows Miaomiao and sits beside her comfortably.

Ye Bai passes a large popcorn bucket to Lin Miaomiao. "You're good at finding a good seat." 

Lin Miaomiao happily takes the popcorn. "Of course, Dad always takes me to watch a movie. I know where the good spots and best views are."

At this time, Lin Miaomiao turned around and said with a smile, "Do you particularly want to watch 'Wolf Warrior'?"

"It's okay." Ye Bai only wants to experiment with his memory, so it doesn't matter which movie they watch but he also likes action.

Lin Miaomiao nodded and smiled. She thought that Ye Bai had compromised what she wanted.

Lin Miaomiao and Ye Bai watch the movie attentively. Miaomiao enjoys the movie while eating popcorn. Near the climax of the movie Ye Bai accidentally grabs Lin Miaomiao's hands while taking a popcorn. Lin Miaomiao was surprised and blushed. She secretly glanced at Ye Bai but found that this guy was watching the movie seriously.

Miaomiao was a little disappointed, but she hid it to herself. After what happened to the popcorn, Miaomiao concentrated more on the movie.

"The movie was great, especially the last fighting scene," Ye Bai said, full of adrenaline.

"Yeah, the way he fought the last battle was really great." Lin Miaomiao responded enthusiastically.

Ye Bai smiled with a sigh of relief. He also knows that he accidentally held Miaomiao's hands a while ago. He can't concentrate on the movie because he worries that Miaomiao will be awkward.

Because of his enhanced memory, he proved the experiment was successful. He can also recall the full movie he watched. Even though his thoughts were away, as long as his eye was on the screen, he could rewatch it again.

While recalling the movie scene, his stomach screams for food. When Lin Miaomiao hears Ye Bai's tummy, he laughs, "Pffp! Hahahaha. Good thing Zhang Rongbao is not here."

Ye Bai also laughs. "After I gave you some snacks that time, now you make fun of my hunger."

Lin Miaomiao stops laughing. "Okay, this is my treat; I feel sorry for your stomach."

Lin Miaomiao takes Ye Bai to where she and her father eat skewers.

Lin Miaomiao ordered different kinds of skewers and put them in front of Ye Bai.

When Ye Bai took a look at the food on the table, he felt that it was too little and that his hunger would not be satisfied with it.

"Uncle, add 20 of these grilled kidneys and 10 each of chicken and pork skewers," Ye Bai orders the waiter.

Lin Miaomiao unconsciously touched her pocket; she was afraid that she would be short on money. 

"I will pay this time; you should treat me next time," Ye Bai said.

A relieved sigh escaped Lin Miaomiao. "Alright, next time it's on me. Uncle, also bring 2 cans of beer," she added with a playful wink at Ye Bai. "Skewers and beer make the perfect combo."

Ye Bai forgot that this girl likes to drink beer. 

"We must do this often," Lin Miaomiao suggested, raising her can.

"You just want to escape Auntie's nagging," Ye Bai teased.

"I need to erase the memory of this morning. Thank goodness I mentioned your name to Mother Wang. She let me off," Miaomiao explained.

"Tomorrow we will return to the dormitory. Study well and do great this coming exam so Autie will not be harsh to you." Ye Bai advised.

"I think if I ever do great in this coming exam, Wang Shengnan will only pressure me more." Miaomiao sighed.

Lin Dawei is waiting outside their apartment. Lin Miaomiao messaged her that she was going home and Ye Bai would send her out. 

When he saw the two of them coming, he nodded to Ye Bai.

"Good evening, Uncle," Ye Bai greeted 

Lin Miaomiao jumped to his father and told him they watched Wolf Warrior and ate skewers. She also shows some takeout for him to eat.

'Is this called a date? 'Dawei glances at the two kids.

"Want to go upstairs and say hello to your aunt?" Lin Dawei invited

"No, Uncle, I need to go back; it's already late." Ye Bai declined; he also needs to prepare for tomorrow when he goes back to the dormitory.

Lin Dawei: "Be careful going home."

Lin Miamiao also said goodbye. "Bye-bye; see you at the school."
