1 A Challenge Arises

'Crap! I'm gonna be late to school!' I shouted out mentally to myself. The first day of school and I wake up a bit late? How cliché is that!

My legs push me as fast as I can go. I can hear my own shoes slamming roughly against the concrete of the sidewalk as I slide right past the school gate just before it closes.

"Safe!" I beam brightly, hurriedly rushing to class and sitting down in the middle of the room since every other spot was taken.

A tall man entered the classroom. His gray hair was slicked back and the suit he wore seemed fairly expensive.

"Hello class." His voice came out clear and smooth. "I'll be your homeroom teacher for the year. My name is Edward Brass, but you can call me Mr. Brass, or Mr. B for short." As he spoke he scanned the room with a smile.

"Let's start with introductions and role call. I'll go by alphabetical order by last name, stand once you hear your name ring out." Mr. Brass took out a sheet of paper with a hum and looked up to the class after reading the first few names.

"Damn..me first again." A whisper no one could hear rang out as our protagonist could only wait a few seconds longer before his name was called.

"Erik Aros." Edward's voice rang out, raising his brows at the name.

Erik stood up, straightened his hair, and let out a soft sigh then smiled.

"I'm Erik. Nice to meet you." With that, he sat down and rubbed the back of his neck.

'A simple yet effective introduction..wise choice.' Edward thought with a smile and nodded his head.

Looking back down at the paper, a yawn escaped his lips and he rubbed his eyes a bit after. However, almost like a chain reaction, every student started to sound out with yawns one after the other.

Not even 10 seconds after everyone heard that message, time seemed to freeze and everyone fell asleep at the same time. Those already asleep in the world had their unpleasant or pleasant dreams disrupted to see a whole new landscape.
