Unexpected Savior

'You made it!' Tracy squealed, engulfing me into a hug.

'Let the girl breathe.' A voice called out, sarcastic in its tone.

Anna, of course.

I laughed, pulling out of Tracy's embrace.

'It's your turn,' I said to Anna, wiggling my eyebrows and holding out my arms.

Anna winced, 'Ugh. Don't. I hate hugs.'

'Oh, come on. I haven't seen you for what? A week. A hug? I deserve a kiss!'

'You take one step towards me and I'll slap you up.'

Tracy gasped in her usual over dramatic manner whilst I continued to grin. Gosh, I had missed these girls.

'No one's slapping anyone. You're here to get drunk or laid.' Molly came into view, wobbling as she stepped closer.

'Or both.' Anna muttered, causing Tracy and I to smirk.

'So...' I started, gazing at Molly's outfit.

She was wearing a bright red dress, which clung onto her curves. Her matching red hair was tied up in a messy bun and her lips were also painted a bloodshot red,

'what made you want to throw a party?'

'Does she ever need a reason?' Anna cut in.

'This,' Molly said, picking up a shot glass, 'is reason enough. You wanna?' She asked, offering me the shot glass.

I shook my head, surprising them all. 'I can't. Not tonight. After what happened last time...I just can't risk it.'

'One won't hurt!' Tracy whined, drinking the entire cup she was holding in one sip.

'You should stop.' I told her sternly.

Tracy was a lightweight so she didn't drink much. However, she went overboard with her drinking on the nights she argued with her boyfriend, Nathan.

' No, Mom.' She slurred.

'Leave her be. You know how she gets when Nathan pisses her off. Enjoy yourself!' Molly said, she grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the group of people dancing in the middle of the room.

I sighed and tried to shake off my thoughts but it was proving useless. I felt guilty.

I know I didn't have to be in disguise at all times but I still felt as if I was letting both Aunt Katie and my parents down.

It was too late to back out now.

Everyone screamed in joy when a well known club song blared through the speakers.

Arms flew up and bodies grinded against one another. It was stuffy and hot, and the smell of vomit mixed with alcohol made me want to hurl.

I shifted awkwardly through the drunk, sloppy bodies and headed out of Molly's apartment and the building.

I needed to breathe and get away from the chaos.

What was wrong with me? I used to love Molly's parties. I was becoming so.... boring.

Oh God. Boring like a teacher. It's the school! It's turning me into a freak! It had to be.

'Hey, baby.'

'Nicholas.' I stated, disinterested. 'Did you follow me out here?' I asked, staring at the streetlights and not his annoyingly obnoxious face.

'Yes, baby. You know I'd follow you to heaven and back.' He purred and grinned.

I rolled my eyes, 'Honestly, I left the party because I didn't want to throw up. Your cheesy-ass pick up lines are not helping.'

'Ouch.' He said in mock horror. 'You've hurt me! Joking aside, what do you say?'

'What do I say to what , exactly?'

He sighed like it was the most obvious thing in the world. 'Me and you. Hooking up. I know you still like me.'

I stared at him, not believing how I could ever have a crush on such a jerk. Yes, he was good-looking. What with his blonde hair, blue eyes and easy-going smile but his personality sucked.

'Get your stinky breath out of my face, Nicholas. I'm not in the mood!' I shouted, pushing him off as he tried to lean in.

'Stop playing hard to get!' He snarled, shoving me against the wall.

'What are you doing?'

'What I should have done a long time ago.' He whispered in my ear causing me to gag. He trapped me between his arms and pushed his body against mine. I froze when I felt a hard bulge press into my thigh.

'Get off!' I screamed, louder this time, unable to pull away. I closed my eyes, stupidly thinking if I did this then he would disappear.

'I have a condom, don't worry.' He breathed down my neck.

'Please stop !' I begged pathetically.

He chuckled, 'Never.'

My eyes remained shut, expecting the worst...

but nothing happened.

I opened my eyes and gasped at the scene before me.

It was Nicholas on the ground whilst another guy stood over him punching him. The guy didn't stop, even when blood splattered out of Nicholas's mouth.

Without thinking I placed my hand on the man's shoulder, gently pulling him back.

'Stop. You're hurting him.' I whispered, the fear evident in my voice.

Angry eyes shot at me. I instantly dropped my hand, stepping back.

It was Maddox.

It was Maddox freaking Gunner. What the hell was he doing here?

'This asshole was about to rape you and you want me to stop beating the shit out of him?' He questioned, incredulously.

'Erm, yeah?' I replied, blushing at how dumb I sounded.

'Fine.' Maddox muttered eventually. He kicked Nicholas one last time and turned to face me.

'Do you need a hand getting home? My car is parked a few blocks away. I can give you a ride.' He offered, almost hesitant.

I found myself blushing again.

Why the hell was I blushing so much?

'Yeah, sure.' The words left my mouth before I could stop myself.

Maddox smiled, and for a moment I forgot about everything he had done and just focused on his spellbinding beauty.

'Follow me,' he said, smiling again.

I gulped, 'Okay.'

What in the world had I gotten myself into?
