3 If You're the King, then I'm the Queen

At the flash of lightning, he suddenly rolled on the ground away from her and faced her in a fighting stance.

One of his bare feet was leaning forward while his other lean muscular leg was bent behind him.

His one hand was holding the ground in front of him while his other seemed to search for something.

His eyes were also scanning the ground as he blurted out in a deep and hoarse voice, "Who dared took away my scepter?"

Evie's fingers curled and uncurl at his reaction. 'Is he a King? Or is it a toy for his child that he lost?'

Evie stepped backward as her eyes darted around, looking for somewhere to hide in case this man is crazy and goes amok.

Her cheeks slightly lifted as she saw a fallen log, which she knew she could squeeze herself into with the slender body that she had.

She was about to go there when the man warned, "You shall not make another move."

His bewildered eyes darted around like Evie did the moment she woke up, then he glanced back at Evie.

"State your name and purpose," he hissed straightaway. His gaze raked her from head to foot.

But Evie quickly retorted, "Answer it first."

'If he's a passenger too, we can both work our way out of here. But if he's a local, and he's an authoritative figure, I'll have to be extra careful,' she thought.

The strange man must have been stunned by her straightforwardness. Or perhaps the weirdness of their situation.

They didn't know each other. But they were found in the same spot, naked.

He walked back and forth as he assessed how to respond to her before replying, "If you do not have knowledge of my identity, then you must not be from Edin."

Then his feet stood wide apart as he put his muscular arms over his lean chest. "I am King Adamos, the ruler of the Kingdom of Edin. How did you get here?"

Evie's heart seemed to stop beating after hearing his answer.

She peeked at him again and gave him the once-over look ‌he gave her.

Truly, he appeared like a King at every angle. From his head, to his torso, to his -

She was about to get a glimpse of what was between his thighs when something extraordinary happened.

King Adamos lifted his brawny arm. And as he did so, a sudden gush of wind flew from the East, carrying the leaves from the gigantic trees along with it.

It was just a natural phenomenon for Evie since leaves are lightweight materials. What astounded her was the leaves flew to cover King Adamos' body.

They pasted themselves together like a whole piece of cloth that covered his nakedness.

She was about to believe that he was indeed a King. But the show? That is ridiculous!

Evie's eyes roamed around, wondering if there were hidden cameras anywhere and machines that could do such tricks.

Then she observed the 'King' in front of her again. He now looked like Tarzan, the King of the jungle.

"If you're a King, then I'm the Queen," Evie blurted out, thinking that someone must be pulling tricks on her.

To her astonishment, King Adamos lifted his arm again like he was holding up an invisible lever, making the mysterious wind go to her, too.

Evie crossed her arms in front of her and held her breath, prepared for what it would do to her.

It was too strong, lifting her off her feet like a tornado. But Evie wasn't afraid.

She closed her eyes and allowed it to do whatever. It's no use fighting back if this is a show or something. 'But I will definitely get away from here as fast as I can.'

Surprisingly, the wind was cold, and calming, like it was lulling her to sleep. After a few minutes, it slowly landed her again on the ground.

To her amazement, after that, she was also wearing the same cloth leaves on. And it's better than her improvised bikini.

She shook her head as she tried to figure out what exactly happened.

But as she straightened herself, King Adamos was now pointing the now-found scepter at her face and commanded her in an authoritative voice, "If you're the Queen, then you're coming with me."

His voice was chillier than the wind that carried her.

His commanding presence made her want to bow down and beg for his mercy to spare her life. But Evie will not be swayed.

"Thank you for the dress. But I'm not coming," she replied calmly.

She was about to leave when King Adamos responded in an intimidating, low voice, "You don't believe me, do you?" He stepped forward, nearer to where she was.

But Evie just rolled her eyes, 'Nice try, actor,'

However, his question brought back memories that she didn't want to recall at that moment. This was not the first time that she heard that being asked of her.

"You were unclothed here with me. You have a peculiar accent. And now you dare defy my orders. It is ‌either you want to die in my hands or you're a real stranger in this land. Which one are you?" King Adamos continued to interrogate as she stepped closer to her with his jaw clenched.

Evie gulped, as she felt slightly intimidated, which was unusual for her. 'Well, he is good for a make-believe King,' she contemplated as she nodded her head.

So she tried to get along with it. "The second one?"

'I will just wait for this scene to end in fairness to this man's excellent acting skills.' She gave a sideway glance to the trees around them, wondering where the hidden cameras were.

However, she didn't see any, making her perplexed. She always trusts her visual skills.

Aside from that, King Adamos also gave her an odd answer.

"I hoped ‌you answered with the former. Because if you have just begged for my forgiveness, I would have granted you mercy and allowed you to go on your way," he said with his fiery eyes narrowing at her.

'What does he mean by that?' Evie lifted her head with her eyebrows narrowing together.

King Adamos didn't let her think hard because he added right away, "In the history of Edin, there was no incidence of an unknown creature entering our kingdom either by accident or not."
