Blue Mist Line

The three friends trudged through the snow-covered ground, their feet sinking with each step they took. The air was cold, and their breaths came out in white puffs. Billie led the way, with Ivan and Miron following close behind with their bikes. They were walking back home from a detention that Mr. Petrov had given them, which involved doing pointless labor and solving a difficult Physics problem.

"I can't believe that Baldie made us do all that pointless labor," grumbled Ivan. "And that Physics problem was impossible."

Billie laughed. "You're just dumb, Bro."

"Hey!" protested Ivan, playfully punching Billie's arm.

"You don't side with her, do you?" Ivan asked Miron.

Miron simply shrugged and burst into laughter.

"What's up?" Billie asked as Ivan was rubbing his palm absentmindedly, lost in thought.

"I remember when we were kids, you used to be such a bossy kid," Ivan said, grinning mischievously.

"What?" Billie asked annoyed at the information.

"Remember that time you hurt my palm with a sharpie because I didn't want to lend you my hand to draw a flower?" he said, nudging her playfully.

"What? No way!" she exclaimed, defensively.

Ivan laughed, "Of course, You did! You were always bossy and wanted things your way."

"Nyah-Nyah, Don't do that Ivan, I know everything!", he mocked her shaking his head playfully.

Miron chimed in, "Oh yeah, you were always telling us what to do and how to do it."

Billie rolled her eyes, "Whatever, guys. I was just trying to keep us all in line."

"Ah, the justification! The Audacity of this little shit!" Ivan quoted dramatically.

"Man, I don't remember hurting you, Are you sure you're not making this up?" Billie questioned Ivan in a reasonable tone to which Ivan struggled to give a comeback.

"Hey, you guys" Miron suddenly stopped in his tracks.

"Hey, do you guys see that?" he continued, pointing towards a faint blue mist that seemed to be emanating from within the trees.

Ivan and Billie looked at each other, their curiosity piqued. They had heard of the mist line before and the rumors surrounding it – people said that if you crossed it, strange things would happen. But the trio couldn't resist the urge to investigate.

"Do you think, it is what I think it is?" Billie asked, taking a step towards the edge of the forest.

"I don't know dude," Ivan said, following her. "But I'm curious."

Miron hesitated. "Guys, it's dangerous to wander inside a forest late at night. Maybe we should come back tomorrow in the daylight?"

But Billie and Ivan were already walking towards the blue mist, their curiosity overriding their common sense. Miron sighed and followed them, keeping a close eye on their surroundings.

As they drew closer to the mist, it became clearer and more distinct. It was like nothing they had ever seen before – a vibrant blue color that seemed to pulsate with otherworldly energy. The mist was perfectly lined like a magical spell, and the trio couldn't help but feel drawn toward it.

"What do you think is beyond that line?" Billie wondered aloud.

"I don't know, but there's only one way to find out," Ivan said rubbing his hands, stepping past the mist line and disappearing into the forest.

Billie followed him, her heart beating fast with excitement and apprehension. Miron stayed behind, watching nervously from the edge of the mist line.

As Ivan and Billie walked deeper into the forest, the blue mist enveloped them, making it hard to see their surroundings. But they pressed on, their curiosity driving them forward.

After a few minutes, they emerged from the mist and found themselves standing in front of a tall, black building that seemed to loom over them menacingly. Ivan and Billie exchanged a look, wondering what it could be.

As they walked towards the tall black building, they couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement and fear. The blue mist had dissipated, and they could now see the building clearly. It was like nothing they had ever seen before - tall, black, and imposing. They described it in detail to Miron, who was standing just outside the line of the blue mist.

Miron was curious and wanted to join them, but Billie insisted that he wait for them outside the line.

"You never know what could happen in there," she said. "If anything goes wrong, we need someone out here to help us."

Miron hesitated for a moment but then nodded his agreement. "You're right," he said. "I'll wait out here. But be careful, you two."

Ivan and Billie cautiously stepped over the line and approached the building. As they got closer, they could see that it was made of a dark, shiny material that almost seemed to absorb the light around it. The windows were dark, and there was no sign of any door.

"Whoa," Ivan breathed. "This is crazy."

"I know," Billie replied smiling, her eyes scanning the building. "But let's be careful. Who knows what's in there."

They walked around the building, looking for any signs of life or entrance. But they found nothing. It was like the building was abandoned, left to decay in the middle of the forest.

After a few minutes, they decided to head back to the blue mist line where Miron was waiting. As they made their way back, they discussed what they had just seen.

"I wonder what that building was used for," Miron mused.

"I don't know," Billie replied. "But it looked like it had been there for a long time."

As the trio continued walking and talking about the mysterious black building they had seen beyond the blue mist, they suddenly stumbled upon a small cabin that they had never noticed before. It was a rustic little structure, with logs forming the walls and a thatched roof that was dusted with snow. It looked like it had been there for centuries, and the surrounding trees only added to its isolation.

Curiosity got the better of them, and they decided to take a closer look. As they approached, they noticed that there was a woman standing outside the cabin, looking at them with a strange expression on her face.

"Hello there," the woman said in a friendly tone. "What brings you to my neck of the woods?"

The trio exchanged a glance, unsure of how to respond. The woman was in her early twenties, with long black hair that flowed down her back in loose waves. She was wearing a long white shirt with a badge on it that said "Selena Moir", and her eyes were a piercing blue.

"Ahh, We are friends with the bobcats," Ivan said eyeing her suspiciously.

Selena's smile widened. "Well, you're welcome to come in and warm yourselves by the fire," she said creepily, gesturing towards the cabin.

But something about the woman's mannerisms made the trio uneasy, and Miron politely declined.

"Thanks, but we really need to be going," Miron said, his voice betraying his unease.

"Actually, I don't mind", Ivan interrupted with a grin, and Billie gave him a painful nudge in the ribs which made him shut up.

Selena's expression hardened. "Trespassing is a serious offense, you know," she warned them. "You should be more careful about where you wander and what you talk about."

Feeling weirded out and slightly frightened, the trio quickly mounted their bikes and rode furiously back to their homes. The trio rode in silence for a few minutes, each lost in their own thoughts. Finally, Billie broke the silence.

"Did you see the look on her face?" Billie asked, her voice trembling slightly.

"Yeah, it was like she knew something we didn't," Miron replied, his grip tightening on the handlebars of his bike.

"I liked her," Ivan chimed in. "She looks badass."

"Do you think she's part of that weird black building we saw?" she asked ignoring Ivan, her eyes flickering with curiosity.

Miron shook his head. "I don't know, but something tells me we shouldn't go back there anytime soon."

"I agree," Ivan said firmly all of a sudden. "That woman gave me the creeps. I don't think she's someone we want to mess with."

"Didn't you just say you liked her?", Billie looked at him with disgust. Ivan shrugged smiling mischievously.

As they rode, they couldn't shake the feeling that they had just stumbled upon something they weren't supposed to see, and the warning from Selena only added to their unease. They all agreed to keep what had happened between them, for fear of what might happen if they spoke about it to anyone else.

It was only when they reached their respective homes and were safely tucked into their beds that they finally allowed themselves to relax. But even then, the memory of the strange encounter with Selena Moir and the mysterious blue mist that surrounded the black building lingered in their minds, keeping them awake long into the night.
