10 Guinea pig

It didn't take long for the next target to appear. Although he wasn't that close to the shop that exploded, Bruce still could feel some vibrations here and there. Most likely, the explosion damaged the nearby buildings, and pieces of them were falling and thus attracting even more monsters.

When the next goblin suddenly appeared in front of the alley, Bruce didn't waste time and charged forward. The beast noticed his approach and even had enough time to raise its sword and stop Bruce's charge. It was only obvious the beast would be able to do so; Bruce didn't get faster, only stronger.

"Violence is never the answer; violence is a question!" Bruce said and then used all his might to overpower the goblin. "Ans, the answer is yes!"

A single level up granted Bruce the power to make a goblin fell on its knees while blocking Bruce's sword. Bruce wasn't skilled, so he could only use brute strength while fighting, but he couldn't help but grin from ear to ear while noticing that he was physically stronger than his target. For the first in several years, something happened that managed to stroke Bruce's pride as a male.

Yet, despite being stronger, Bruce couldn't ignore the goblin's block. It was probably because he wasn't skilled enough. Regardless, even if his sword could do the job, his legs could. In that position, the goblin was in the perfect range to get hit by his kicks, and Bruce used his right leg without hesitation. The point of his shoes hit the goblin's chin, and the power behind him was so high that the monster lost consciousness and even hit the back of his head on the asphalt.

"Yep, I shouldn't use my weapons recklessly like this," Bruce nodded to himself. "It is a pity, but if I really want to become a warrior or something, I can't ignore agility and probably vitality. Although strength increases my HP, physical attack, and SP, ultimately, physical defense will probably mitigate the power of physical attacks."

It was weird to consider such things in the real world; Bruce did that several times, but only when he was building his characters in online games. Although playing those games didn't increase his status, it gave him the knowledge of how to proceed now, even though it was something that could be easily realized by anyone with half of a brain.

"In any case, this goblin gave me even more experience… was it a level three goblin?" Bruce frowned while watching the corpse become particles of light. "It looks like I can't see the enemies' HP, MP, and SP unless some requirements are met."

Despite learning something new, Bruce was a bit worried. Things were getting exciting, but the monsters were leveling up too fast, probably because they had no regard for their lives. From what Bruce had seen so far, goblins tend to increase their strength and vitality. That was bad; even a level one goblin was already troublesome, and now that level three goblins were appearing, most humans wouldn't be able to defeat them. Unless they use some firearms.

"Firearms… maybe I should look for a gun shop," Bruce looked around and then noticed another shadow approaching. "Firearms aren't as cool as swords, but I will use everything to level up faster. If necessary, I will hit a motherfucker with another motherfucker."

Now that Bruce thought about firearms, he noticed that so far, he hadn't seen a single cop or vehicle that belonged to the police. He didn't hear anything similar to their sirens either. It was worrying because weekends were the times when they had to work the most.

"I don't like this, but I have other concerns right now," Bruce said and then readied his sword.

The shadow was approaching, and Bruce prepared another surprise attack. Still, weirdly enough, the shadow moved toward him and then slowed down before stopping ten meters away.

"Don't attack. I'm human," The shadow said.

Bruce frowned when he heard the youthful voice of a man, it looked like the voice of a teenager, but that guy was as tall as Bruce. After a few seconds, Bruce's eyesight got used to the darkness until he could clearly see that he was talking with a human… a human that was wearing night vision goggles.

"I knew it… I paid too much for that damn suitcase and the things inside of it; the producer didn't put something as cool as that in there," Bruce bit his lips in annoyance while he thought that. "Who are you, and what do you want?"

"My name is Christopher; you can call me Chris," Chris said and then showed a nervous smile.

"My name is Hoo Lee Fuck, what do you want with me, Christopher?" Bruce said.

"Is that a Korean name?" Chris asked, perplexed since he didn't realize the meaning behind Bruce's words. "You don't sound like a Korean."

"Don't judge a book by its cover," Bruce said. "So, are you going to tell me what you want, or you just come to make me waste my time?"

"Right… I have been watching you for the past minutes, and I noticed that you obtained some health potions," Chris said. "I would like to buy one from you."

"Well, well… aren't you one hell of a creepy dude," Bruce frowned. "I don't have any need for money… if you didn't notice, money wouldn't help us to fight these monsters. Unless you have some electric powers and can shoot coins like a railgun. In any case, you don't look like you are wounded. Why do you need a health potion?"

"It is for my sister," Chris said. "We killed some goblins while we were trying to leave our apartment complex, but then she got hit in the neck and ended up losing a lot of blood. Right now, she is stable, but she is unconscious due to it."

"I see…" Bruce furrowed his eyebrows. "So, you know about the quests, but even though your sister is in danger, you decided to observe the streets in the hope of finding someone who could level up first and then ask for the health potions. Aren't you one big calculative coward?"

"… I won't deny that I was scared, but I couldn't risk my life since I was the only one who could save her," Chris said. "I was gathering the courage to face the monsters barehanded, but then I heard that explosion and saw you crossing the streets. I thought about creating a party with you to obtain some equipment for the quests, but then I saw you obtaining the potions. Please, I will give you the shield that I will receive and the sword that I already received if you give me one of the potions."

That wasn't one bad offer; the problem was: Bruce wasn't even using his own buckler, so he didn't need others. A spare sword might come in handy since he was already with low durability. However, Bruce was more interested in the possibility of creating a new party. He wanted the chainmail, but he needed to form a full party.

"I also need a guinea pig to see how these potions work," Bruce rubbed his chin while thinking about that. "All right, I will give you one potion if you give me those night vision goggles and join my party for the time being. I need to reach the northern part of the city, but doing it alone is too dangerous. What do you say about it?"
