Chapter 2 : SIGNUS

Kilit-kilit birds in Bulacan Philippines are believed to announce misfortunes and death. Jared never paid attention to these details but, after his father's death and a year after wearing his father's wristwatch, he started hearing weird high-pitched ringing noises from both sides of his ears.
It has already been two years since he started hearing it but, year after year it seems to be getting stronger and stronger. He almost lost consciousness this time, little did he know this is the signus of an upcoming disaster.
He was enjoying the rest of the day and got home safely. His body felt so weak and without even greeting his mom he went straight to bed, closed his eyes, and just seconds later he lost consciousness.
_12:00 am 03/03/3030
A new day had come but not for some people who became a victim of this failed project Azathoth. Jared felt the intense pain coming from his wrist traveling through his veins up to his brain. Waking up in a white-enclosed room filled with nothing but a door in front of him.
"Mom?!" Jared mumbled and shouted repeatedly but there was no one to answer his call, his voice won't even come out. Then moments later a panel appeared.
[ Welcome to ENIGMA! ]
The startled Jared thinking it was all a dream gasped and slapped himself but, no matter how strong and how many times he did it he can't feel the pain.
"This is all a dream right?!" shaking, he mumbled to himself as his tears started to flow, sat by the corner longing for his mom.
"Jared, it's time to wake up!" His mom shouted to wake the boy up and get ready for school. The boy didn't answer no matter how many times she called him, she walked upstairs and checked his son only to see him lying in bed.
"Hey Jared, you'll be late." His mom tried to wake him up again but he won't budge making the mother worry. "Jared! Do-don't joke with me this isn't fu-funny," Mrs. Reyes shakes his son stuttering nervously.
"A news just came in that people globally have been in a comma only after a night." Jared's mom heard the news making her come down in haste.
"Scientists are still discovering the cause behind it, they call this the Comma Crisis or COMASIS." Mrs. Reyes immediately called the nearest hospital and reported her son's condition.
Vehicles came barging in getting Jared's body and loading it on an ambulance, "wait! Where are you taking my son?" His mom asked the personnel but all they answered was, "we are taking him for an examination you just need to trust us, ma'am." Then left in a hurry."
