Fixing The Mistake

(Levar Point of View)

Once I get back to my apartment, what I just did sinks in. I work at a bar that criminals visit often and when she first came in people didn't stay much longer as if they knew why she was there. For all I know she could be a serial killer and I just rejected her. Even if she didn't like asking me to be her boyfriend, I still rejected her advancements. I might die soon. That was a horrible thing to do. Why didn't I think that through more? I just didn't want to cross my personal life with my work life and now for all I know a serial killer is mad at me. I most likely just made someone who is crazy mad at me. Why couldn't I just have thought for five seconds before speaking? And with what I am used to hearing. Maybe I can fix this. It's still my weekend but what if I go into work tonight to see if she is there and I can try to do something so I don't die. After all, I just upset a crazy person. I could bake something for her but I don't know what she likes. What is wrong with me? Why didn't I think that more though? I end up pacing around my house for several hours before I stop, make myself some food and then head to bed as it's late. However, since I wasn't tired, I watched a movie first before heading to bed.

In the morning, I get a call from my work that I have to come in as Amy is missing and she was supposed to work last night but she didn't so they need someone now. I get on my uniform and I head to work. It isn't as busy as I am used to but that could be because it is quiet early but there are still people. I am mainly doing nothing so I help the other bartenders as they seem overwhelmed but I guess that this is busy for a morning and the night shift just has a lot more people than the morning shift does. While I am sitting down in one of the seats behind the bar, a woman comes up to my bar. She is showing a lot of skin. How is she not cold? I know it's not freezing out but it's too cold to be wearing a small tank top and short shorts. Her makeup does look good. I walk up to her. "Hello ma'am. What can I do for you today?"

"Your number would be nice."

"I don't just give away my number but if you want a drink I can get you one."

"Alright. What red wines do you have?"

"We have Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel, Pinot Noir, and Nebbiolo are the ones I can think of off the top of my head but I can get you a wine list if you would like."

"There is no need to. Merlot sounds nice."

I grab a cup and the Merlot wine. I pour her her drink and then I hand it to her.

"Here you go ma'am."

"Thank you. That was quite fast."

"Well I am used to having to serve over a hundred people at once so with this amount of people I seem fast."

"That is quite impressive."

"Thank you ma'am."

I watch her take a drink out of her drink as I go to sit back down. I go around serving some of the other people that are there. I see the woman drawing so I leave her be so she has her space to draw. After a few hours, I am walking back into the strip club after helping a group of women get back into their car after being harassed when I run into Asaka.

"Hello ma'am. I didn't think I would see you here at this time." I look at her in surprise.

"I wouldn't think you would be here either."

"I'm just working. Nothing new really."

"So you wouldn't mind if I sat down at your bar?"

"No, I wouldn't."

I head into the strip club with Asaka following behind. I make her her normal drink and I gave it to her.

"Here you go ma'am."

"Thank you darling." Okay, she is still calling me darling so maybe she isn't mad at me.

"You're welcome ma'am."

I watch her take another sip of her drink. I have the time to stay with her so I will. I need to make this up to her before I die or something. What if I get kidnapped and tortured? That might be worse than just being killed. No, I can't focus on what might happen because I will fix it so nothing will happen, hopefully.

"So is this your normal shift? It does seem out of place compared to your other shifts that I have seen you in."

"No, it isn't. One of my coworkers couldn't come in so I had to." I might not normally tell a customer this but this is some way I can make up for declining to talk more with her.

"So you normally work the night shift?"

"Yes, I do."

"It doesn't seem as busy as it is at night."

"No, it isn't. This is actually quite slow for me but the other bartenders are acting like this is a lot for them."

"Good to know."

I went to respond to her when the woman from before calls me over. "I will be back soon ma'am."

Asaka nods her head as she watches me leave. I walk over to the women.

"What do you need ma'am?"

She shows me a drawing of me. "I made this for you."

"This is very nice."

"Thank you. Why don't you take it?"

"I wouldn't have anywhere to put it."

"But it's a gift from me and wouldn't you want a gift from someone like me? After all, anyone would want me."

"Well I do not. Thank you for making it but you should keep it. Now, do you need another drink?"

"No, I will close out."

She pays for her drink and then leaves. I head back over to Asaka.

"Who was that?"

"I don't know."

"It looked like she was trying to give you something."

"She was."

"Why?"

"She drew me and wanted me to have it."

"Did you like the fact that she drew you?"

"It was nice and impressive but not something that made her look hot or anything like that."

"So you are fine if your partner can't draw?"

"Yes, I am."

"What if they can draw?"

"That's fine as well."

"So either way is fine with you?"

"Yes, it is." I wonder why she is so curious about what I think about drawing. Is this like some kind of mind trick that she is doing to see if I like other things or something?

"Good to know."

I stay quiet for a second. "So do you need anything else?"

Asaka pauses for a second. "Have you changed your mind about us getting closer?"
