Chapter 33 - Lesson

After a few hours, they arrive in the early morning in the next town where Reinhard chose a run down shack to stay for the night. The place was low class inn that it only had beds made of straw. Throughout it all, Eris kept clinging to Reinhard and kept her promise on being quiet. The reason why they chose such a place is that they weren't available inn that were cheap and also a way to teach Eris a lesson about how harsh the world is.

The receptionist was looking at them but when Rudeus paid a large amount quickly accepted them and let them stay. Rudeus just plopped into the bed while Eris was reluctant to let go of Reinhard.

'Is this how Rudeus feels with Sylphy? This is going to be troublesome…'

Reinhard thought looking at Eris who remained frightened despite how hard she was trying to show a brave face. He just gestured for her to sleep and soon plopped into the bed since she was tired.

The Eris was so wired she couldn't sleep. Every time she heard a sound, she would startle and glare, frightened, at the room's entrance. When nothing seemed to be amiss, she would breathe a sigh of relief. She did this over and over. Reinhard hadn't fallen asleep despite the fatigue of his body since he was observing if the innkeeper had any malicious intent.

They were a bunch of children that had nice clothes and a large sum of money that likely attracted quite a lot of trouble. However, fortunately nothing of the sort has happened that could be considered quite a lucky event.

They slept for several hours the entire day and continued their journey home late at night where three kids hopped on the first stagecoach going to Roa city. Reinhard felt energized from the few hours of rest since his body grew stronger the more abuse it took, unlike the other two who were tired after their journey. Hours passed and finally they arrived early in the morning.

They disembarked and headed toward the manor on foot while Eris was still at high alert and when they were getting closer was stopped by someone. Eris' face lit up since it was one of their servants but was quickly grabbed by Reinhard.

"What!? Why are you-"

"We're surrounded. You were the one behind this, right?"

Reinhard confronted him while behind them 3 people began to reveal themselves. It was early morning where no one would be able to help them. The servant merely smiled crazily at the children.

"I didn't expect for the three of you to expect. But I guess a Miko and water saint magician are no laughing matter. How about this? Hand over lady Eris then I'll pay you. It means that you don't have to put up with that brat again."

"Tempting but I'll pass, how about you Rudy?"

"Same here, I don't like Lady Eris but doesn't give me the right to let her be with you."

Their chose made the servant to laughed at their naivity and self righteous believing that they don't understand the weigh that they were willing pay for. Meanwhile, Eris still had her hand held by Reinhard who have move forward placing her behind him. She starting to admire him for acting this way around her like Ghislaine and wanted to know the reason for it.

"Then have it your way!"

At that moment the people behind him began to dash towards them with their blade prepared to slice the three. However, a blink of an eyes their heads went flying in the air and behind them was Reinhard making Eris blink for moment since she didn't notice him dissappear or even move. Blood splattered everywhere and Rudeus was stunned by the sight of it since he hasn't seen human be killed before and this was cause by his brother!

He could see his gaze were sharp and stoic with blood across his face. Reinhard flick his sword to remove the excess blood and turn to the servant who fell into his bed while the young boy appeared in front him reducing the distant in an instant.

"W-Whaaat! Y-Y-You're a monster!"

The servants couldn't believe that he was easily bested by a single young boy eexpcting that his experience but realize that his at death's door step at any moment.

"Rudy, tied him up."

"Y-Yes!"

Rudeus wake up from his daze and helped restrained the servant who didn't have the will to fight realizing his dead at any moment. After that they went toward the boreas estate where Ghislaine and Philip were waiting for them.

"Eris! Thank god you're safe!"

Philip went closer and notice the man on the ground quickly understood that this person was the one responsible while turning his attention to the twin approving they were perfect for the jobs in their family. Meanwhile, Ghislaine went closer to Reinhard smelling something familiar.

"You smell like an old friend of mine…. don't tell me-"

"Yes, I believe his name was Cain and had help with the kidnapping to take revenges on you."

Ghislaine grimances that her grudges had followed her and affected those that she swore to protect. She turned to his disciples wanting to know about what had happened.

"I tried my best and manage to escape from him."

Reinahrd lied since he would be reviving him soon and turn him into a puppet. Furthermore, this would possibly lessen the possibility of revealing his true strength. Ghislaine heard this gave nod while ruffling his head and felt proud that he manage to escape someone like that.

"I kept my promise and now we're back home! So I can talk now, right?!"

Eris decided to speak once she finish talking with his father and turned to look at the twin.

"Oh, yeah. You can talk now."

Rudeus said since he made her remain quiet throughout the journey to not attract people's attention because they were being pursued by the kidnappers.

"From now, u accept you as my tutor and you Reinhard, I will grant you the special privilege of calling me by my name, Eris!"

"Huh?"

Reinhard surprised that he was the only one getting the previlege in calling her name.

"Not just anybody gets to do that, okay?!"

"Then I'll gladly accept this previlege, Eris."

She seem gave a feint smile that Reinhard buried into his mind before Eris falling in the ground collapsing after being exhausted from their travel. After everything was settled down and the twin gave them the round of what had happened making Philip thankful for their hardwork. Soon the door came crashing and lord Sauros came inside the room.

"I heard it all, I heard you saved Eris! Well done. Hmph, Philip!"

Sauros sat down while calling for his son who and without a moment of hesitation, swung his fist. It landed with a vicious crack.

"Ugh!"

"Bastard! This to the boys who saved your daughter! How dare you not offer even a word of gratitude! Just so you can partake in your foolish theater between nobles?!"

Philip, still splayed on the floor, responded without moving.

"Father, Paul may have been disowned by our family, but he is still a Greyrat. That means his son Rudeus, who also carries our blood, is a part of our family as well. So rather than outwardly praise and reward him, I thought the best way to thank him was to treat him with kindness as a part of our family. Furthermore, Reinhard would be you're future grandson in law."

"Very well! Then go ahead and keep up that farce with the nobles. You boy, I hope you treat Eris well!"

"Forgive me but we are only engage and plan to break it if she isn't to my liking."

His word made the room become cold as Sauros felt offend at his words.

"Bastard! Do you think myr granddaughter isn't worthy of you just because you are claimed to be a Saint rank!? Is that it!?"

"Of course not, I merely stating that her behavior could become be detrimental for the future of your family. In order to accept her, I want her to mature and learn humility where I can accept her as fiancee. At the current moment, she is far too spoil and immature."

Sauros didn't say anything believing that his words were true considering that their future solely rely on her and if she doesn't change would cause their family to crumble.

"Hmph, you have guts. Very well, I wish for you make her mature by the time we annouce your engagement."

Once everything was over, the Rudeus went back to their room to finally have some rest since their going to have long day of work. Reinhard excuse himself to the bathroom but actually went to his world where he went to resurrect the captured corpses.

He was able to gather information from them about the current standing of the Asura Kingdom and how it's at the verge of tipping over. Reinhard couldn't help but sigh at this is going to lead to a coup d'etat if they remain this way.

'I need to sent someone to turn the prime minister into my puppet soon. Perhaps the king is a better option? Regardless, this amount should suffice to be my information gatherer.'

Reinhard glance to over 50 servants that were the mercenary that he had killed. This going to be the people that would be his eyes and ears. He only needed to find a way to create a communication device like cellphone signals.

Fortunately that they don't need to eat or sleep and act like a puppet but still retain some semblances of free will. Once he was done and commanded them to train until he gave one of them their mission.

A month had passed since the incident and the twins started to settle down on their new home. Reinhard find it funny when ever his brother teach Eris since she still remain violent even after experience traumatizing event. Though, the older twin handled her quite well because he had been given privilege to scold her appropriately.

Eris had been trying her best studying wanting to be like Reinhard and learned magic with Rudeus. The older twin tried his best to help them in studying with Ghislaine appreciate his help since she struggled in the past because of her ignorance regarding simple math.

At the current times, Rudeus joined in their sword training where he was badly defeated by Eris who looked down at him. She seems to use the opportunity to bring out her frustration.

"Rudeus has a long way to go, huh?!"

Eris crossed her arms and looked down at him, collapsing on the ground. Ghislaine scolded her with Reinhard beside the beast woman.

"Don't get ahead of yourself, Eris. You have been holding a sword for longer than he has, and you're older. Also your frustration could be used against you and should always remain calm and collective. Not to mention, holding a sword makes you invincible and you should try to analyze the situation where you are able to utilize most of your attack. Now, Reinhard spar with Eris."

Reinhard nodded, taking the wooden sword while Eris quickly attack him without warning but was easily parried by him and Ghislaine frowning at her action but appreciated that she actually tried attacking someone by surprise.

"Nice try but think before striking."

He proceeded to use a Water god style to redirect her sword before the tip of his weapon pointed at Eris' throat, surprising how easily she was disarmed. The weakness of sword god style was the water god style which is why Reainhard won in a single move. Eris was displeased and swiftly swung her blade then stepped back looking at Reinhard.

"Eris, though performing a surprise attack is uncalled for still a useful tactic in battle but you've acted without thinking about the next step which is why Reinhard exploited this weakness. Remembering, always plan ahead when fighting."

Ghislaine lectured her as the two continued to spar analyzing their fight and notice how Reinhard had been striking in Eris weak spot to let her learn as they went on.
