*Chapter 04: Assignment

Leiro's PoV

Oh, I didn't expect- it's already five in the afternoon. I peeked on the veranda of my room when I saw the sun setting. It was also nice to see its rays outside my veranda that I wanted to bask under for a while, but I'm just too lazy to stand up.

I lay on my bed for a while as I can hear Lunely's laughter outside- seems like she really enjoyed the view of our mansion. Well, I don't mind her laughter at all, and it would be better for her to be familiar with the mansion first. I was about to take a nap when I remembered to do my homework first so I don't have any unfinished tasks tomorrow.

"You seem to be having a hard time with your homework Lei... Do you mind if I help you?" Lunely suddenly appeared behind me as I stopped drawing. I simply put my pencil down as I just smiled at her when I saw her appearance- she was wearing a yellow off-shoulder shirt, a blue short skirt with white shorts inside, her light blue slippers, and her hair still in pigtails as always, which made her really cute right now.

"Oh, Lunely, it's you. So, did you enjoy your new house?" I smiled as I took a sharpener just a few centimeters away from my work and sharpen my pencil for a while. "Well. I bet you are. I can hear your laugh even inside my room." I giggled softly as Lunely suddenly shrieked.

"I didn't know I was making too much noise, sorry if it disturbs you Lei." Lunely clasped her hands in front of her as she started swaying side-by-side like a total cutie.

"It's okay Lunely, I don't mind. And please, didn't I tell you to call me brother from now on? What if my parents find out that you don't call me that way? They'll be upset." I suddenly told her as I giggled once more and continued what I'd been doing minutes ago when Lunely showed her usual attitude again.

"Don't you blackmail me, it's not like I don't want myself to call you my brother, but what do you think of me, some sort of a kid? And please, don't rush me! Do you think it's easy to adjust? Pfft. I hate you!" She suddenly looked away from me, closed her eyes, crossed her arms, and unleashed her cute pout that I'll always treasure for the rest of my life.

"My, you're even cuter when you're angry." I laughed suddenly even though she ignored it. Well, I just continued my drawing as Lunely suddenly scanned my work.

"Okay, back to your homework thing, that's a human heart, right? I actually learned that from Professor. It is said that the heart is the pumping station of the blood and is subdivided into four chambers-"

"I know, I know... Just, slow yourself down, will you?" I quickly interrupted her from speaking as I just smiled and murmured. "Well, I expect nothing less from a high school student-"

"Who are you calling a high school student, you idiot?" This time, she interrupted my speech. And, wait a sec, why did she react by that, anyway? Isn't it that you're studying in high school if you're just sixteen years old?

"I'm telling you this, brother Lei. My appearance may be just a high school student, but believe it or not, I'm as genius as a student studying in a college or even in a medical course." She proudly said as she chuckled like crazy, but it's okay that she called me older brother, it's just, in a tsundere tone.

"Huh? Medical course? In that appearance of yours? You know you can be honest with me though. I won't judge." Welp, only a gifted child can memorize all medical lessons despite his or her age. I can feel she's just bluffing out just to impress me.

"You dare underestimate me?! Fine, if you really want proof, you can try me- Math-related subjects like Calculus, Chemistry, Anatomy, anything. Just don't freak out like a total idiot or else I could kiss you- I mean pinch you. " She placed her hands on her sides like she was confident enough.

"You're digging your own grave, do you? Well, here- answer this. What is the standard Pythagorean Theorem Formula?" I suddenly asked him, but she didn't seem afraid that she would have nothing to answer. She looked confident.

"Simple. C square is equivalent to A square plus B square. (c²= a²+b²)" She smirked at me, while she crossed her arms as if she was proud of her answer. But I do remember those high school teachers taught this formula so let me try something else.

"Not bad. Hmm... Oh, how about this? What is the standard formula for the Law of Acceleration?" Well, this is General Physics, but for me, it's somewhat like Mathematics because it has formulas.

"Physics, huh? Well then, the standard formula for the Law of Acceleration is A is equivalent to F divided by M, (a= F/m) wherein A is the total acceleration of an object, F is the net force applied by an object and M is the mass of the body of an object, in kilograms to be précised- my, even a middle schooler can anwser that, brother Lei!" She chuckled like crazy once again-

Well, it's impressive indeed, but how come a girl like her knew about this stuff? She even has explanations! Is it really nerdy or just gifted? I felt sorry for her parents for abandoning her, but she hasn't convinced me yet. I must think more.

"Not bad at all Lunely. Hmm... Oh, here... I bet you can't answer this... What is the standard quadratic formula?" There, let's just see if she can still answer that. As far as I know, the formula for this is quite long.

"Is that all, brother Lei?" She chuckled again like crazy as she suddenly cleared her throat and paused for a while. Haha... Why did you suddenly stop? Don't you know about-

"It's F of X is equal to negative B plus and minus the square root of B square minus four times A and C divided by two times A." f(x)= -b±(√b²-4ac)/2a

I suddenly shrieked out of shock- what the heck, she knew about that? Seriously, I couldn't memorize that equation that easily during my high school life, and then she just spoke it out in just mere ten seconds?!

Seriously, I salute this kid.

"Quite impressive. I must give remarks for your intelligence. But still, I'm not satisfied."

"C'mon... I'm waiting. Just continue asking me. I can answer every question-"

Lunely suddenly stopped talking as I remembered something.

"So you underestimated me, Lunely. You haven't known about the hardest question ever created, do you?" I grinned secretly as I thought of something. I was once asked this question, and I'm sure she can't really answer it. "Here's the last question. If you can answer this, I'll do anything you say for a week. But, if you can't answer that, You'll do anything I say instead." I winked at her as a sign of approval as she suddenly startled.

"Eh?! Anything?!" I can see sparkles in her eyes- one sign that it's okay for her. Well, I hope you can answer this Lunely. "But don't do anything indecent, okay?"

"Yep, don't worry... But first of all, I would like to say sorry, since this is the hardest question that even those super-geniuses can't even answer this question, you know? So here it is..."

She seems confident though.

"Can you translate 'Hindi ko alam' in English?'"

She suddenly laughed after hearing that question. Hmph... "Filipino, eh? Is that even a question?! C'mon! Even a five-year-old child can answer that! It's pretty simple." She proudly stood up as she placed her hands on her sides and spoke out loud.

"I don't know."

I burst into laughter as she said those words. I did mention that she really can't answer that- and I was right. "I thought you could answer everything? Why don't you know?"

"What?! What's wrong with my answer? I know for some reason that the answer is I don't know!" She shouted at me as she stomped her foot into the floor, while her hands closed tightly as she pouted at me. But I just kept laughing as I suddenly handed her a piece of paper and a pen.

"Here, here... Why don't you write your answer down so we can read okay? Maybe you'll need a formula or something" I said jokingly to her. My, Lunely... You never even thought that you were being tricked, but you still keep on fighting.

My, I would expect nothing less from a fifteen-year-old working girl like her. She doesn't have much common sense, haha... She may be quite mature but she still has her childish sides deep inside her.

Lunely's PoV

"Y-Y-You... Tricked me..." I clenched my fists while he was still laughing. How dare he! Laughing at me like that!

I quickly punched and slapped him on his chest like a total child. But instead of being angry, he just smiled as he gave me a headpat. I was surprised as I tried to break free, but he suddenly spoke.

"Lunely, I thank you."

"Huh? For what?" I pause for a while. Why is he grateful even though he tricked me just a minute ago? Why does he creating random statements all of a sudden?

"For this, you gave me the fun I haven't felt for the past months. Your laughter, your cuteness, and even the moments we had even though we were only together for a few hours. For me, these were the moments I always wanted to feel again."

He patted me more, more than enough to make me surrender myself. So all this time, he wanted to make memories with me? Here I am again... I'm creating hasty conclusions without even thinking.

"Leiro... You don't have to be like that to get my attention. I'm just glad you're happy even though we just met. But wait, it seems like I lost your bet, haven't I? " He just smiled as he stopped patting my head.

"Don't worry, I'm just teasing you. What's more important is this moment." He suddenly gave me a smile I always dreamed of seeing every day. My... It seems like I'm really in love with you, my dear crush.

"But still! A promise is a promise! Order me now, or I'll be angry at you. Hmph!" I suddenly looked away from her as I crossed my arms and pouted. Leiro, on the other hand, just giggled as she pat my head all of a sudden. "It's not like I'm awaiting your orders, but it would be a disgrace to my reputation to break the contract we made."

"It's a bet, not a contract! But don't worry, I'm not a pervert so I'm not gonna ask something indecent for you to do."

"S-So?"

"Hm. Lunely, if you insist, I order you... to sleep beside me for tonight..."

...

"What?!" I suddenly jumped away from her as I leaned on a table near mine. "A-a-are you even serious?! You said no indecent scenes right?!"

"H-Hey, don't make the wrong idea! If you didn't know, I haven't slept well these days... I don't know why but, it seems like you can help with it since it started after Liana died. But um, it's okay when you don't want to. I won't mind at all. And I'm sorry."

Seconds passed Leiro didn't speak now as he focused more on doing his homework as I leave him alone. My, it seems like he's having trouble falling sleep right now. I mean... Being his future wife, it's my responsibility to take care of him and pamper him on his sleep- i-it's not like I wanted to sleep beside him, I'll be restless if that happens! Having him near me as I freely watch his sleepy face is going to be another dream for me!

Well, let's just see about that. I also want to know his reasons why he wanted me to sleep next to him later... Hopefully I'm not gonna be into trouble!
