7 The Power of Pima II

"That makes about as much sense as anything else that's going on." Lawrence says with a shrug before asking, "So what should we do now?"

"I think we need to regroup with the others before finding a way out of here." I say while handing him the now empty pistol.

"Sounds like a plan, I think I heard Miranda was trying to head back to the armory to get a weapon?" He says taking the pistol.

"Then we'll start there, any other ideas?" I ask before mentally calling out to Pima. (Is there anything I can do or skills I can purchase to help find the rest of them?)

[Well, you could unlock the mini map function for 100 AVLP? ┐( ̄~ ̄)┌] They reply as time grinds to a halt.

(Great! How much AVLP do I have?)

[How should I know? ┐( ̄~ ̄)┌]

I pause mentally face palming, (How can you not know?! You're a System, aren't you supposed to track that stuff?)

[And I recall telling you I'm an experimental system. I can take your criticism and report it to the higher dimensional beings to include in my next update.]

(Great, and how long will that take?) I ask in exasperation.

[And done, here are your stats.]

•Charisma: 7

•Constitution: 8

•Dexterity: 11

•Intelligence: 13

•Strength: 10

•Wisdom: 6

•Luck: 23

[All and all, most stats except luck should be 10 for a human. And a human's luck is usually 5. So you're fairly below average. (っ´ω`)ノ(╥ω╥)]

(Hey! You ripped this off of E&E!) I shout indignantly.

[I have no clue what you mean, also you acquired 35 AVLP in your two encounters. `;:゛;`;・(°ε° )]

(What can that get me?) I reply, going with their attempt to change topic.

[Well, you can spend it on acquiring a biological weapon, such as claws or fangs, or choose a stat increase?]

(What are those biological weapons like, and how much is it to increase my stats?)

[The claws are like the nails of that one guy's brother in Y-Men, and the fangs are basically vampire fangs, minus the blood-sucking since these are baseline mutations. As for stat increases, it's the current level of the stat times 2 to reach the next level. Ex. Wisdom 6 -> 7 = 6•2. Which makes the cost 12.]

(Interesting, and how do I gain more AVLP? Aside from killing zombies?)

[There are rewards from quests, as well as your daily generation. But that is a very low accumulation rate in comparison to killing an undead.]

(I see... Then leave my AVLP alone, I'd rather stock up for something useful later than waste it now.)

[Wow... That might be the most sensible thing you've done since I've met you.]

(Buzz off!) I call back as time resumes.

"Not at the moment, everyone scattered when the second... I guess third? Since there was more than one that attacked us. And by that point you'd already killed that one." He says motioning to the one I killed.

"Good." More AVLP, I think to myself as we make our way to the armory.

"In what world is more of those things running around, good?" Pompous Prick (Lawerence) asks in shock.

"Uh, it's good that we know there's more of them so we don't let down our guard." I say fairly unconvincingly as Pompous Prick (Lawerence) just nods as he watches my back as we slowly and quietly make our way to the armory.

After a few minutes of reorienting to where we ran off to, we made our way back to the armory where the door is wide open and Philip's body is nowhere to be seen which causes me to freeze.

I motion for Pompous to stop behind me as I use the tip of my shotgun against the doorframe making a 'tap-tap-tap' noise.

Almost immediately a loud bang resonates throughout the hallway as a section of the doorframe is blasted out.

"Fuckin' hell! Don't shoot! We're human!" I shout nearly losing my head for the second time in as many hours.

"S-sorry! Come in quick!" I hear Miranda shout as I recover from my crouched position only to notice Pompous had depressed the trigger on his pistol which would have ended up shooting me, causing me to snatch the pistol away from him with a glare.

Me and Pompous quickly make our way inside to see Miranda with what I assume to be the two remaining students from her group and Marcus further in the armory with shacky guns of their own. With slightly shocked faces. It's either my strange appearance or the fact the others still had the safety on on their weapons and might have died if I was one of those skittering bastards.

"What happened? How are you alive?" Marcus asks, lowering his gun as everyone listens intently to my response.

"First, let's properly arm up and secure the entrance then I'll explain everything I know I say moving to secure their weapons before Miranda draws her rifle and aims it at my head.

"N-not another step! W-we don't know if you're infected or not!?" Miranda says in a panic, halting me in my tracks.

"Well, I'm not going to lie to you all... But if you lower your rifle, I'll put down my shotgun, and we can aim our weapons at the door while I explain what I understand is going on. Sound like a deal?" I ask slowly lowering my shotgun.

"A-alright..." Miranda says, cautiously taking her finger off the trigger, allowing me to take a seat and aim my gun towards the door, with my back to everyone while they listen to me spin my tale as my favorite dwarf in the 'Wyvern Era' video game series would say.

"So it started when John left me for dead. That thing had us cornered, and he shot me in the gut to buy himself time. Luckily, the idiot dropped his gun and that thing accidentally dragged me towards it letting me get ahold of the gun as it tore me to pieces. Once I domed it, and I was about to eat a lead bullet when I felt an even greater pain than that skitterer ripping me apart. And after coming too, I seemed good as new, minus some scars and my new weird eyes. I think this means I'm compatible with whatever's going around?" I explain to the shock of everyone listening.
