1 Destiny Written

A loud explosion was heard afar from a boy that was too occupied drawing the river in front of him.

Taken aback by the sound, he stood up and went to where everyone was gathered.

Pushing himself through the crowd, the five-foot child finally saw something dazzling.

The murmurs of the people filled the air as the small child admired the creature glowing in white. Without any thought, the child ran through the creature to examine in more. Upon running he stumbled upon his way and fell.

The crowd gasped as the creature helped the child. Having a clearer view, the creature looked a lot like an owl but also a human.

"You young one, will soon help those who are lost find their ways," the creature spoke in a pitch only the child can hear.

He smiled and hugged the being. Making the huge creature smile and laugh.

The creature put down the child as it stood up and revealed a pair of wings shimmering under the gaze of the sun.

Clicks and flashes echoed as the creature flew up high, leaving the child and the crowd in awe.

Junhui woke up from his nap. The person sitting next to him looked at him, alarmed by his sudden movement.

"You should stop doing that Junhui," his seat mate joked.

"I keep having the same dream everytime Xiaosi,"

Junhui yawned and stretched his arms. He then got his notebook and started writing his dream. The longer he kept having the same dream, the more detailed and vivid it was.

"Oh right Junhui, what are you going to do on your birthday?" Xiaosi asked.

Junhui smiled, remembering a few days from now he will finally turn 18 years old.

"I'm not sure Xiaosi, I'll just be hanging with you I think," Junhui smiled at his friend.

Xiaosi smiled back, he smiled even more at the back of his head after knowing his friend didn't have anything planned on his birthday. Xiaosi was planning on a surprise for his friend.

Everything was going according to plan, Xiaosi thought.

Junhui's phone vibrated. Averting both of their attention to the phone. Junhui opened his phone and he got a message.

"Read it," Xiaosi said. Junhui then proceeded to read the message.

"Congratulations Junhui! 3 Days from now, your life will change,"

The both of them stared at each other in confusion.

"Where did it come from?" Xiaosi asked. Junhui checked the receiver and shook his head.

"It has no... number?" Junhui questioned.

"Isn't it also your birthday three days from now?" Xiaosi asked again. Junhui was baffled.

He thought to himself that someone was only playing a prank on him. But then again, who would do such thing to someone like Junhui.

The both of them brushed the message as they continued their day normally.

---

Junhui bid farewell to Xiaosi since Xiaosi had to go back home early. Junhui now left alone was thinking about the strange message he received earlier. He wanted to stop thinking about it, but it just keeps popping on his mind.

One last time, he said to himself. Checking the message again, his phone started to glow a bright white light.

Just like in his dream, he thought.

Suddenly, an owl emerged from his phone. Taken aback, he accidentally let go of his phone. The owl continued to spin above him, slowly landing on his shoulders.

Its feathers, white as snow, and its eyes glow a bright blue color.

He stared at the owl resting on his shoulder. The owl's eyes was starting to close.

"Hey don't sleep,"

The owl opened its eyes back then stared deeply into Junhui's eyes.

Familiarity wrapped Junhui's mind. The bright blue color was calm. Junhui pictured an ocean, then the sky, and then a face.

"Father?" Junhui breath out.

Instead of feeling calm, Junhui now felt scared of the owl.

It was until then that Junhui realized an owl has gotten out of his phone. Junhui tried shaking the owl out of his shoulder, but it won't budge.

"Can you stay still for a second?" a tiny voice spoke. Junhui looked around, but there was no one near him.

"It's me dummy, the owl," Junhui looked back at the owl and it spread its wings open. A familiar scenario played in Junhui's head.

"Just like my dream,"

"It wasn't a dream young one," the owl spoke again.

"Was it you?" Junhui asked at the owl.

But before it could respond, Junhui giggled, then laughed.

"I must have been out of my mind. Talking to an owl that got out of my phone,"

He picked up his phone that was still on the ground and started walking back to his house.

The owl bewildered by his actions, flew and stopped Junhui on his tracks.

"This isn't a joke Junhui. Three Days from now, your world will overlap with ours. Chaos will ensue and you will be the answer,"

Junhui glared at the owl. The owl was surprised with Junhui's sudden change of aura.

"Listen here Mr. Owl, I'm busy with my own life and I'm not even sure if you are indeed real or not."

Not wasting any time, Junhui walked pass the owl and continued walking back.

"Enough Junhui!"

A deeper voice now spoke. Slowly turning around, Junhui was facing the creature he saw in his dreams.

"We don't have much time left, the more you keep being stubborn, the longer I get to help you," the Owl grunted. Checking at his hands for something.

"I guess I have no other choice than to do this then,"

Without wasting any second, he grabbed Junhui by the wrist and proceeded to fly high in the skies. Junhui screamed on top of his lungs, too stunned to speak by the sudden action the Owl made.

Junhui too shocked, felt his eyes closing in. He was already at the edge of passing out. But before he could fully close them, he saw two figures emerging from the clouds.
