Chapter 28

After finishing their homework at the library, Allen ran towards the dungeons for his detention. His friends wanted to accompany him but he told them to just go and eat dinner without him but to bring him something to eat since he would need it after detention. They agreed and left towards the Great Hall while Allen made his way through the hallways. Every step he made seemed to darken the environment around him with just enough light that he could see where he was stepping.

Allen continued to look around while his magic was active to search for a prefect or the caretaker, just so he could continue to run in peace. After a long run, he finally reached the door to Professor Snape's classroom. I didn't thought I would get to meet him so fast. He let out a long breath before knocking on the door.

Snape opened the door just before Allen's knuckles could touch the door. "Come in Mr Lionheart", Professor Snape spat out and he just walked inside, following behind.

"Good evening Professor, where should-"

"Stop talking and start scrubbing." Snape interrupted him before he could finish talking, then he directed him to a pile of cauldrons, one worse than the other. "Without magic and without protective equipment. You should be grateful that this is all you will get as a punishment." Snape turned his back on Allen and walked towards his desk where he started grading some papers, completely ignoring Allen afterwards.

It's not like I can use scourgify anyway. Allen complained in his mind as he walked towards the pile of cauldrons. He picked up the first one he could reach but before he could start, he needed water and soap. Not wanting to get a scolding from the Professor, Allen went around the classroom, looking in every broom closet.

When he opened one, he saw a book, a book he was familiar. The Half-Blood Prince's Book! Should I take it? No, it would be suspicious if I do it. But since I'll be coming here for a whole month, I can take it with me in the last day. Allen nodded to himself, satisfied with his conclusion and went on his merry way to continue to look for cleaning supplies.

While Allen was cleaning the cauldrons, his mind kept wandering about his magic. Right now he was using a protective coating on his hands, the same kind he uses when he calls forth flames, to protect him from the heat, this time, it was to protect him from the multitude potions of dubious origin. Professor Snape said to not use magic to clean them, he didn't say anything about using it to protect my hands. Allen let out a slight grin and continued cleaning.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Allen thought back on his transfiguration class from this morning, transfigurating a match to a silver needle wasn't supposed to need that much magic since the spell was specifically designed to be used by first years to practice how transfiguration feels, yet it did hurt him, a lot, but when he casted the Wand Rising charm nothing happened, nor with the Light-Making charm, so it could mean that either those two spells are easier to use or the transfiguration spell is above the other two, in any case, he will need to get used to casting spells with his wand since he can't be getting body aches every time he does it.

Now, while he can cast magic without a wand, is not actually wandless magic, like the term indicates, is using the magic that can be casted without a wand, so it's going through the same process of incantation, imagination of the spell and finally the casting of it.

In Allen's case, he uses his emotions to push forward his magic, and while there is a part of imagination in the use of the magic, what finally ends up casting the magic is his willpower or intention. The willpower to make his intention a reality you could say. So it could be very well because of that that Allen is not used to his wand, for example, its as if he was running but then someone tells him to stop running and ride a unicycle out of the blue, practice is needed to get used to it.

I should probably practice all of the spells in my charm book first, then make my way up. Allen continued to scrub away until the last cauldron was clean.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Finally, being free from the detention, he went straight to Slytherin's common room instead of the Great Hall, since the curfew was about to start anyway. As he muttered the password and walked inside, he saw both Armand and William in one of the tables, waiting for him with a tray of food. William saw him first and waved at him to get his attention. Allen walked towards them, but before he could reach them, a mocking voice entered his ears.

"I said stop it~"

He froze in place, took a big breath of air and continued walking towards his friends. If you get mad they win. Bullies always win if you pay attention to them, just ignore them. Allen repeatedly thought.

"Hey moggy, we are talking about you!" A shout came from behind him. Enraged, Allen looked back towards the voice. It was a kid, no older than him, most likely a second year.

"Oh, so you finally look back? Gotta say, I was impressed by your little demonstration, good thing you didn't cost us any points, but another one of those stunts and we will make your life a living hell, got it?" The other two kids at his side just laughed as if this kid just told them the most hilarious joke in the world.

Anger continued to rise within Allen, moggy, no one had called him like that since his burst of accidental magic.

While the word sounded endearing, the meaning was another thing. A cat that does not have a pedigree or is otherwise unremarkable. He thought back on the meaning when he first asked Ms Sarah. At the time he didn't thought it was that bad, but the more time passed, the more realized, not only were they making fun of him and his last name, they were also mocking his situation of not having any parents. Now, here, in a school kilometers, miles away from the orphanage, the same nickname is being used to mock him and his lack of family.

Thinking back on it, the word its really similar to the word 'muggle', it could be a derivation to call what wizards considered lesser beings than them.

Allen looked at the kid straight in the eyes. "What did you call me?" A cold tone left his mouth.

"Ha? You didn't hear me? Moggie, moggie, moggie!" The kid shouted and the ones at his side just clapped.

A sharp look appeared on his eyes, he wondered what to do with them since they are just kids and if he did anything extreme, he might traumatize them for life.

"Moggie moggie moggie!" The kid continued to shout as if he found the word to be the funniest thing in the world. A lot of students were looking at the scene, while the older students retired to their dormitory since they didn't want to intervene in a spat between kids.

"My name is Allen Joseph Lionheart, call me moggie one. MORE. TIME. And you will regret it." His eyes shone a bright green, making his voice charged with magic, reverberating all over the common room.

The kid answered back, this time a tinge of fear could be heard from his answer. "Ah?! Wh- Who do you think you are you stupid mudbl-!" And before he could say anything, both Armand and William stood in front of Allen.

"I think that's more than enough Avery." Armand interjected.

"Malfoy! What do you think you are doing?! Defending that-!" Before Avery could finish, Armand pulled his wand and pointed it at him.

"I said that's enough. Now, before this gets ugly, I suggest you and the Burke twins leave before things get ugly." A menacing tone left Armand's mouth.

Avery and the Burke twins pulled out their wands as well, but before they could point it at Armand, Allen activated his magic, eyes lit up with a green tint, and pulled them towards him with his magic, leaving the second years in shock at their wands being stolen. Then, Allen passed one wand to each of his friends, and they pointed them at the kids.

They looked up and down, from his hands to Allen and his friends, realization dawned on them that it was impossible to do anything at the moment and they conceded.

"Tch, okay, alright, alright! You win Malfoy, now, can you give us our wands?" Avery asked in an irritating tone and Armand just gave him a frown.

"I'm not the one who took your wands from you, ask Allen."

Avery just stayed silent while looking at the ground but the twins threw away their pride and asked Allen. "Ca- Can you give us our wands, Allen, please?"The two Burkes looked desperate to get their wands. It makes sense, after all, they can't do magic without it.

Allen just nodded towards William to give one of the twins his wand, while he gave the other twin his wand. "Only my friends can call me Allen, I'm Lionheart to you." They nodded vigorously, at the demand, then, after getting their wands back, they ran towards their own dormitory.

Avery shouted from behind at the panicked figures of his friends. "Ah! Cowards! Come back!"

"We are waiting, Avery." Armand said after he turned back.

Debating whether to do it or not, he groaned. "Can I please, get my wand, Lionheart?"

Armand looked towards Allen and he nodded, letting him know that it was okay.

Avery snatched the wand out of Armand's hand and after doing so, he spat venomous words. "Just wait till I tell my father who you decided to hang out with! He will surely tell yours, and then we'll see!"

Armand, with a calm look on his face just answered back. "And pray tell, what will you tell my father that I can't do?"

He stayed silent while looking at the ground.

"My family matters, and my personal matters are me to deal with, and my father knows my beliefs, so you better keep your nose out of my business." After that, Avery ran away with his tail between his legs, following the Burke twins.

Allen, Armand and William looked at each other, then realized that the whole common room was looking at them, not wanting to attract any more attention, Armand took the lead and directed them to their own dormitory as well. After they left, Allen heard a small commotion outside.

"-You saw that?"

"Wandless ma-"

"-Re you for real?"

"You think he-"

He hit himself in the face lightly, regretting his actions, but maybe, they won't mess with him anymore like that, or so Allen hoped.

When they entered their dormitory, their roommates hadn't arrived yet, or maybe they did, and saw the whole commotion in the common room, in any case, the three of them stayed silent for a while, then William broke the ice.

"That was insane mate, I knew you were good with your magic, but to disarm three second years without your wand and without casting anything out loud, you are bonkers. Can you teach us?"

"Yes, honestly, I was impressed by that display of magic Allen, had to act like I knew you were gonna do something like that." Armand let out a long breath. "I think I was more impressed that Avery and the Burke twins than them getting their wands yanked out of their hands, how did you do it?"

"I- Well, to be honest, I just think about it like a type of psychokinesis." While it looked like Armand understood it immediately, William just turn his head to the side, wondering what he was talking about.

"I don't get it."

"Okay, it's like the Levitation charm, just that I levitated their wands towards me, although, I'm pretty sure the charm can't do that since the wand and their partner are connected by their magic, so unless a strong spell can break that connection, like expelliarmus, or the caster voluntarily lets go of their wand, it can be harder to just yank it out their hands, but in this case my magic forcibly broke their connection, making it possible for me to summon their wands to my side.

Does it makes sense?"

"I think so."

"No, it doesn't."

The two friends answered at the same time and before they could continue their conversation, Allen's stomach growled. "Ah, sorry, haven't had dinner."

"Ah, that's right, and we left the tray of sandwiches on the common room…" Armand trailed off. "I know, Dobby!"

And with a pop, a house elf appeared right in front of them. "Yes Master Armand? Was you searching for Dobby?" He did a small reverence before Armand.

"Yes Dobby, can you summon the tray of sandwiches from the common room? And also, go to the kitchens and ask the other house elves to prepare some warm milk, please."

Oh, yes, Master Armand, give Dobby a moment." With a snap of his fingers, the whole tray was summoned on the table in the dormitory, then, another snap and he disappeared. After a moment Dobby appeared again with three glasses of warm milk in a tray and more food in the other hand.

"Thank you Dobby, you can take your leave." Said Armand, dismissing the house elf.

"Will do, Master Armand, Dobby will take his leave now, goodbye to Mr Lionheart and Mr Cooper." Then with a small reverence and another pop, Dobby left the castle as if he was never there.

"You have a house elf?" William asked.

"Yeah, father keeps him, so I try to treat him well, and also try to teach my brother to treat him good, it's not going as well as I hoped." Armand looked down to the ground, thinking about his family.

"That's cool! Mum and Dad said we can't have one, they are too expensive, and they also tell me it's not correct."

Before they could continue their conversation, Allen's stomach growled again and they looked at him, then laughed, the serious atmosphere from before left he dormitory.

"Go on and eat mate! Don't worry about us!"

"Yes, I agree with William, go on Allen."

Allen just nodded. "Don't mind if I do then."

He chomped on all of the food, wondering about why Armand was so different from Draco, and how this would affect the following years. The apparition of Dobby was certainly something he didn't expect, nor his control of magic being found out not only by his friends, but also by a big portion of the Slytherin house, he would have to think of a believable excuse later down the line, for now, eating was the priority.
