The Queen Bee

CHAPTER 25

The cafeteria went back to normal. Everyone stuck with minding their own business to not get in trouble with the Queenbee.

"Damn that evil witch," Ace cursed as he stood up and left the cafeteria as well.

"Where are you going, bro?" Kevin called out but it fell on deaf ears as the latter was quick to ale his exit.

"Poor Scarlett. She has already faced two unfortunate events on her first day at work," Sarah sighed with pity.

"She wouldn't get to eat her lunch now. And she had a nice one for a tummy fill," Tamara added as she carefully packed Scarlett's meal.

"Thankfully they didn't get too ruined," Kelvin

Kayden prepared a nice meal for Scarlett and packed them in a three-layered flask he got for her. The first layer had pineapple, apple and watermelon fruit salad in it.

The second had curried rice garnished with green beans and tiny pieces of diced carrots and the last had an accompaniment of avocado-fried egg.

"Yeah, thankfully," Lily sighed. "I'm going to check if she's okay even though I know she isn't."

~In the lady's room~

Scarlett was quick to squeeze out whatever content of the juice her hair had absorbed into the sink. Washing would have been the best option now but she couldn't go home and there was nothing to improvise with.

So she just rinsed off as much as she could with water. She was very careful not to further mess up her shirt as she didn't have a spare.

"Looks like I will have to have a spare pair of clothing with me from now on. Even shampoo," Scarlett said to herself.

Then a sigh left her lips when she let go of her hair after much squeezing. She dropped them on each side of the sink while staring at her reflection in the mirror.

"Sigh. I never had been soaked with juice in my option for what could possibly go wrong on this day. I look like a horrible mess."

"Not really. You look like a hot mess. A sexy charming one at that," someone spoke.

Scarlett whipped her head to the source. "I know you are trying to help, Lily. But it's not working at all."

Lily had come straight to this place as she assumed Scarlett wouldn't want to ride back up to the top floor and risk the CEO seeing her in such a miserable state.

Plus, the bathroom on this floor will be the quickest place to wash up so Scarlett should be there. And her assumptions were right.

Lily locked the door to the lady's room and walked up to Scarlett. "I'm sorry about Natasha," was what she could think to say next.

"So that's her name," Scarlett noted. "I get they all have the same attribute," she whispered.

Back in her high school days, there was also a Natasha at her school. In a class to be precise. And that girl was mean to Scarlett because the boy she liked, turned out to have eyes for Scarlett.

Now there's another Tasha showing up.

"Yeah. Tasha is the marketing department head and also the queen bee of the company," Lily said with a dramatic eye roll.

"That explains her attitude. But what has that got to do with me honestly? It's not like I did something bad to her. I mean, we've never even met before," Scarlett frowned sbd then sighed.

"She feels as if she's the most important person here. So if anyone was getting more attention than her..."

"She'll get jealous and do something mean to them," Scarlett completed her words.

"You get it," Lily nodded.

"Of course. I just tasted it," Scarlett said as she held her hair for emphasis.

"Yeah. I'm sorry. If I hadn't invited you to sit with us at the table then Tasha would have never gotten the chance to spill juice on you," Lily apologised. She felt guilty about it.

"Don't blame yourself. It's not as if you knew it would happen anyway. And I have a feeling that she would have found a way to do something evil to me if I wasn't present for lunch," Scarlett said.

"Sigh. What are we going to do about your hair now? It won't get dried before lunch is over

"Sadly, it won't and that's the part that sucks," Scarlett pouted and turned back to the mirror. Another sigh escaped her lips.

Just then a light knock came on the door. "Uhm Scarlett. Are you in there? It's me, Ace."

"Ace?" Lily and Scarlett said in unison.

"What are you doing here?" Lily quickly rushed to the door to make sure it was locked.

"Lily, you are here too. Good. Give these to Scarlett, quickly," Ace said.

When Lily opened the door a bit, she was greeted by a brown bag that seemed to be from a shopping mall. She took it and locked the door back.

"Here," she handed the bag to Scarlett.

The latter curiously opened the bag and a light gasp left her lip. There was a white shirt in the bag and also a dryer.

"How thoughtful," she said.

Lily clapped as an idea came to mind. "Now that you have those, let me give you the space to change and dry your hair. I'll go look for a brush for you to get those strands untangled."

"Alright. Thank you, Lily. Also, send my gratitude to Ace."

"Sure, no problem. Now hurry out of that wet shirt and get your hair dried before you catch a cold."

"Hmm. Alright."

In quick minutes, Scarlett dried out her hair before Lily came back with a brush. It didn't take too long for her to get back to how she first came in this morning.

Although not entirely the same. As for the shirt Ace got for her, it was great, just an inch bigger than her size. When she came out, she and Lily quickly parted ways as the lunch was already over by some minutes.

It's never too late to send wishes, right? So, happy Valentine's day, guys.
