198 Predator and Prey (2)

'We are all predators and we are all prey. Why do I look through jaded eyes, at a world that I do not know? I can not answer that, no I think that I do not wish to answer that. In this place, I breathe the freshest of life giving air, truly fresher than the world I once called my own. Yet, I do not feel a part of this world, nor can I separate myself from it. I am but a memory, a fading dream, a lost and rigid thought that only time can remove. Is this all I am? Or is it all that I could ever be?'

The man who was once known as An-Namrud stares at his image in the mirror. Thoughts, memories from long ago floated slightly at the surface of his thoughts. A poem from long ago, he could remember the words as if they were seared upon his soul. He could no longer recognize himself. No, it was more a sense of displacement as if he knew who he was, but he was also a stranger in his own skin.
