7 The Imperium

(Neoth POV)

Thousands of years have passed. Humanity has gone through the motions of different eras at high speeds. In 3000 - 1000 BCE, should have been the Bronze Age. The population should have been roughly 72 million at that age's end. However here, I made sure to shorten the time this took, to nearly a quarter of the time. 2000 years of the Bronze Age, became 300 years. The human population was also much higher, sitting at 100 million. This was due to the Imperium, which encompassed the entire world.

During this time, it wasn't hard for me to take over the entire world. I had a plan, concerning how to handle the future of humanity. A rather cruel plan, but it was necessary. I allowed humanity their beliefs. Everyone was conquered under one banner, but they were given their freedom. At least most of them were. I made sure to push the advancement of humanity at a much faster rate, than it would have been.

I didn't forbid religion. I had a much better idea. I would give them the illusion of control and free will, while I controlled things behind the scenes. My cruel plan was that I would allow things to progress 'naturally' if not a lot faster than they were originally. And then, when the time for the 'Age of Strife', I would let this time humble humanity, before stepping in. Why I would do that, will become obvious later on.

.

After the Bronze Age came the Iron Age. Normally this period should have been from 1000 BCE to 500 BCE. But because of me, it started in 2600 BCE and ended 200 years later. The population at the end of the Iron Age was roughly 209 million people. Interestingly enough, the population at the end of this world's Iron Age was also 200 million, but it was 1'500 years before the end of the original Iron Age.

Over the years, I selected different leaders who would lead humanity in my stead. Every leader was controlled by me entirely and I used one of my trains of thought to control him, just like I had done to my Uncle. This way, I could make sure that humanity would prosper and advance much faster.

Agriculture was better, everyone had enough to eat. Those who were smart were used by me and were granted epiphanies to create things much earlier than they would have normally. No wars were going on in the world, I made sure of that. I wouldn't give the Ruinious Powers any easier time than they already had. Although, I would come to regret this decision later on.

.

In Warhammer 40k, the Age of Terra, also sometimes called the "Age of Progress" in older Imperial texts, is the era of Human history between the 1st and 15th Millennia, 1 - 14,999 AD.

This is the era when Mankind advanced from a pre-industrial Iron Age culture to become a star-spanning Fusion Age civilisation.

The first three Chaos Gods -- Khorne, Tzeentch and Nurgle -- were birthed in the Immaterium in this era, all coming into existence at various points during Old Earth's European medieval period.

Their emergence at this time was the result of the constant warfare, the growth of sophisticated early modern nation-states and continued outbreaks of global plagues, respectively, which marked that era and fed the final formation of the Dark Gods' consciousnesses.

The Sol System was ultimately colonised once Humanity developed the necessary technology to leave the Earth's orbit in the late 2nd Millennium and the early 3rd Millennium. Mankind first colonised Mars and lived on the moons of Jupiter, Saturn and Neptune.

.

That was the case for the original Warhammer 40k Universe. In mine, things were different. The Age of Terra was much sooner and started from 7'000 BCE up to 2'000 BCE. Humanity created the necessary technology to leave Earth's orbit in 1'935 BCE and they began to perfect it a few centuries later. I made sure that humanity made good progress and developed well enough and in the right direction.

Because of my interference, the first three Ruinious Powers didn't come into existence yet. I stopped wars from being fought. Their emergence in the original timeline was the result of the constant warfare amongst humans, the growth of sophisticated early modern nation-states and continued outbreaks of global plagues, respectively. But while there were plagues, I made sure to have someone 'come up' with the solution fast.

Essentially, I stopped the emergence of the first three Ruinious Powers with my powers and that might not have been such a good idea in hindsight. However, I was not idle during that time. I used it well and smartly. I had other plans than just watching over humanity. Things had to get done.

.

.

After the first battle in this Universe together with my Adeptus Custodes against the Ancient Aeldari, I gathered all the technology available in the spaceship. It was a fruitful endeavour for the Imperium as we managed to use the technology to finally begin terraforming planets in and outside of the Solar system and turn them into Maiden Worlds. As stated, Maiden Worlds, or Lilaethan in the Aeldari Lexicon, were lush paradise worlds originally created through advanced terraforming techniques from lifeless Dead Worlds by the Aeldari before the Fall of their race's ancient interstellar empire.

I made sure to choose the planets carefully and strategically. I made sure not to pick any Tomb Worlds, even though I was very interested in them. I let them be for now as I had other plans.

A Tomb World is one of the worlds across the Milky Way Galaxy where the ancient Xenos known as the Necrons chose to go into hibernation over 60 million standard Terran years ago, deep beneath its surface in their specially prepared catacombs and tombs. The Necrons are a completely robotic humanoid species whose technological prowess is probably unmatched by any of the other intelligent species of the galaxy. We will meet the Necrons in the future for sure.

Many Tomb Worlds were settled planets of the Imperium of Man and their status as a Necron Tomb World remained unknown until the Necrons beneath its surface began to awaken, much to the detriment of all life on the world. An unknown number of these planets exist across the galaxy at the current time.

Some Tomb Worlds were once the settled worlds of the ancient Necrontyr species that eventually became the cybernetic Necrons after their enslavement by the C'tan, and Necrontyr ruins are sometimes found on or beneath the surfaces of such worlds. Many Necron Tomb Worlds are now Dead Worlds, largely lifeless and barren deserts. More on the lore of the Necrons, later.

.

Because many Dead Worlds were Tomb Worlds, I had to be extra careful when choosing a world to terraform into a Maiden World. I didn't want the Necrons to ruin everything I worked for in the future. So in the end, I found 382 worlds to terraform into Maiden Worlds. These worlds would become rich in resources and would be useful for the Imperium later on.

While that was going on, I focused on creating technology I knew about from across the ages of mankind. I kept an eye on humanity and its development and would make sure things went according to plan, while I laid the groundwork for what the Imperium would use later on.

I used the technology I had salvaged from the Aeldari to truly begin creating my own laboratory and the tools necessary for things that were much more advanced. One truly powerful and useful creation, which was actually one of the first things I created, was a 'Nanoswarm'.

[Picture]

The overall destructive and also constructive capabilities of these Nano-swarms were staggering. They would help me in the future to build and deconstruct things. Right now, I would use them to 'mine' and 'harvest' materials of any kind from planets. That's right, Nano-swarms could devour entire planets in mere moments but they could also be used for the opposite purpose.

After that, gathering resources got considerably easier. I started to create better armament and weapons for the Adeptus Custodes and also the Imperator Sominium and Phalanx. I needed more personnel, or I would have to create another way to make the spaceship function. I had an idea, to create an AI but with a very considerable twist.

Instead of creating an AI, I would create a program and then operate this program myself. I had infinite trains of thought after all. There was nothing easier than to use one to take care of the ship. This idea opened a lot of doors for me and the future projects I had in mind. So I went ahead and used the knowledge I had about AIs from the Dark Age of Technology and began to research a way to make my idea work.

I would not make the same mistake as humanity had done. In the end, I trust no one but myself in this Universe totally. Well, the Adeptus Custodes as well, since they were incorruptible thanks to my Meta Essence.

.

Apart from that, I was also doing extensive genetic research. Genetic engineering was something I had already delved into for a time since I had created my Adeptus Custodes. But it wasn't that deep and thorough. I only applied what I knew about the Custodes. But I know that there is so much more for me to achieve. I can make the gene-seed so much better and now that I am who I am, with the powers and abilities I possess, I decided to spend a lot of time in that regard.

My goal was rather simple. I would increase the strength and power of each military unit in the Imperium. What that means is that the Astra Militarum or Imperial Guard would become much more powerful and reach the level of Space Marines in the future. I would go through an enhancement protocol that changes the genetic structure of every human, who willingly joins the Astra Militarum. This procedure would then elevate them to the level of Adeptus Astartes.

Equally, I would improve upon the gene-seed of the Adeptus Astartes. The end goal was to make every one of the Space Marines as skilled and powerful as an Adeptus Custodes ...

Yes, that was a ridiculous goal, but with my intelligence and infinite trains of thought, nothing was impossible, as long as I spent enough time on it. I noticed that I didn't realise just how fast my thought processes now truly were. But more on that later.

As I said. The Astra Militarum would basically be elevated into Adeptus Astartes, the Adeptus Astartes would be elevated to the levels of the Adeptus Custodes and the Adeptus Custodes would also be greatly enhanced. I was thinking about inducing Psychic potential in all of the Custodes. I could do that now.

According to the Essence, I could induce Psychic potential in others, the more power I use in doing so the stronger the Psyker will become. They will be completely loyal to me and incapable of betraying me or even thinking badly of me. Imagine 10'000 Adeptus Custodes running around who have even 1% of my power ... they would be unstoppable.

I didn't yet have a plan for the 20 Primarchs I could create, but I was thinking about it.

.

As I was doing genetic research, I thought about two things.

First, I had to find a way to remove the genetic information of all my troops. This was imperative since the war against the Tyranids was coming. I know that I could theoretically abstain from creating the Golden Throne, but I wanted to create it. I wanted to create it and use it offensively. But that is also another project.

I had to do that. There was no way that I would allow the Tyranids to consume my precious soldiers and then grow stronger through it. That meant, I either created a failsafe in case one of my soldiers gets consumed or dies. Or, I find a way to make the genetic material blank. Blank as in, not having any information at all. There were a few ideas I had for this, but it would take a long time.

Secondly, I thought about the Aeldari we had captured during the battle and turned into slaves. Their genetic makeup was also useful for my Project: Ultimate Gene Seed. They were fast, swift, agile and had immense psychic potential. All things that will prove useful.

.

All in all, I had my work cut out for me. In one world, I found out that it was a Tomb World. I was very interested in the Necrons. Their technology was something I would get my hands on, sooner or later. I had a plan on how not only to take their technology, but also make the Necrons my oh-so-loyal servants. And the answer or rather, the potential answer lay in another Universe.

So I planed on making my first trip in the future.

As for the other things he will create, don't sweat the details. This is all major BS on my part.
