Chapter 34: Dark Silhouette

"V-Vyl help."

Despite the difficulty, I forced myself to stand up. I stared at the large hole in the ground made by the explosion. I could feel my whole body shaking. I have scratches on my arms which are currently bleeding because of the explosion. I'm being targeted again.

My eyes immediately searched for where Rain had flown to from the impact and saw him lying near a tree not far from where I was. He was also having a hard time getting up from the ground. Even though having a hard time, I went to him.

"Hey, you okay?" I asked before helping him up. I didn’t immediately notice the red, hot liquid streaming down the left side of his face. There’s a wound on his head and I felt terrified when I looked around because everyone on the field were affected by the explosion.

"W-What the hell happened?" He asked weakly as I was assisting him to walk away from the field.

"I don't know either."

I suddenly stopped walking when I felt a gush of cold air on my nape. It was as if something quickly passed through the space between my nape and my hair. Too fast it seemed to have carried locks of my long hair.

Rain also seems to have seen it because even he was frozen and his eyes widened looking at the other side of me. I quickly turned to what he was looking at and gasped. There I saw, currently stuck on one of the trees again, a familiar small knife. It has the same design like the knife thrown at me the day we went to the amusement park.

I can feel the color drained out of my face. Whoever is attacking me right now, is the same one who attacked me last time. He even went out of his way to create a commotion inside the university grounds.

I was distracted by the slow movement of Rain's other hand and seemed to be pointing at the front. Based on his expression, he is feeling a mixture of fear and nervousness now.

I slowly looked at the thing he's pointing in front. Fear instantly clouded my features. It enveloped my entire system.

In front, just a few meters away from us, we saw a dark silhouette of a person, a guy to be exact, standing still and looking exactly right at us. I can't see his face but I know he's looking at our direction. It was as if we were nailed to our feet because we could not take another step.

We just stared at the black silhouette of the man standing not far from us. He slowly raised his right hand and pointed his palm at Rain and me. I hitched my breath as I nervously wait for his next move.

I saw a light slowly forming on his palm. From a small circle of faint light, it's getting bigger and bigger until it became the same size of his head. His head tilted a little sideways, and before we could even think of what we needed to do, a ball of light was already flying violently at our direction.

I could not do anything but close my eyes and scream in fear. I bent down waiting for the big thing to hit us that might be the cause of my death.

But a few seconds had already pass but... I didn’t feel anything. Nothing hit me.

I slowly opened my eyes and to my surprise, I saw the familiar green hair that I've grown so fond with kissed beautifully by the sunlight. I am faced with his sturdy back and his right palm is currently stopping the circle of light that was coming at us just a few seconds ago.

"Are you okay?!" Worry can be heard obviously in his tone. My eyes landed on his glowing emerald iris that is currently looking at me. I'm lost in words and was unable to say anything so I just slowly nodded my head.

He turned his gaze back in front and as if effortlessly, he returned the round ball of light back to the opponent.

There was a big explosion of blinding light that made my eyes squinted for watching intently. I was once again blinded by the light created by explosion. The air was also wildly gushing here and there. The smoke that enveloped the atmosphere also thickened so I was unable to open my eyes.

Then I felt strong arms suddenly encircled around my body. I could smell a familiar scent and it seemed to be a signal for me to hug him as well.

"I'm sorry for being late. I'm really sorry." I felt him kiss the tip of my head. His hug became even tighter and I returned it. "I'm sorry, Ven."

All I could do was nod in succession and squeeze my head even harder into the space between his shoulder and neck.

I stared at where the black silhouette had stood before and saw that it was no longer there. There's not a single trace left of it anywhere in the field.

Vylant casted another spell to alter the memories of the students and other outsiders who witnessed the incident. He even fixed the parts of the school destroyed by the explosion and put it back to normal. It was as if no explosion had taken place and people returned enjoying the attractions. He even cured Rain's injury and he even replaced Rain’s memories.

For that reason, he became weak again. The pallor of his face and the sluggishness of his eyes were obvious.

"What happened?" Rain asked me confusedly. Because Vyl put everything back to normal as if nothing had happened, it went back to when he was confessing. "When did Vyl get here?"

Vyl is standing by my side while staring intently at Rain. He then looked at me and said something in our mind link.

"I'll give you three minutes."
