Chapter 18: About To Find Out

That made me wonder again. I still don't understand everything. What’s my connection with everything he said? He said before that I’m the only one able to help them. But what? Until now, I don't know the answer.

"Hold it, Vylant," I said, making him pause. I need to ask this before I forget again. "You still haven't answered my question yet. What do I have that can help you and your world?"

I've been asking that ever since he came to earth but he expertly dodged the fucking question and asked me to just come with him to make everything easy. I can't let him have his way now. Not this time.

He took a deep breath before started talking again. "I'll explain slowly. You need to know the facts first, okay?" He said calmly, while I nodded in return.

"Do you still remember the chant, I told you about?"

"You mean, the one told by the Enchantress?" I asked, forehead creased. He nodded. "I remember it but I didn’t memorize it."

"I'll recite it again for you." And so, he did recite it again. This time, I marked the words he said inside my head.

Confused about a little dream I see,

I shall explain the answer to thee,

Bounded by the sun since birth,

By a random child that came from Earth,

Souls connected one on Earth and one in Pluvilia,

Both confused by this strange enigma,

Power locked inside still exists within you,

But it's held back so the power won't get through,

The girl and you are bound by a power called solar,

The chosen girl is known by the name, Heavenly Salazar.

I’m slowly starting to piece it together.

"My full power is locked so I can't fight the Lunarians on full force because of us being bounded together. I can still get stronger. And that's where you come in. We need to be unbounded."

"But h-how? What do I need to do?"

"You need to come to my world first. We need to find the gem that will unbind us according to the Enchantress."

"Why do I have to go there? Why don’t you just bring the gem her so we can do the unbinding here?” I think he haven’t thought of that yet. He’s just making it difficult for him to convince me to come to his world.

"I can't do that." His words made me furrow my eyebrows. Why can’t we do it? "Because you're the only one who knows where the severing gem is."

"What?" What does he mean? I know nothing. "What are you saying? I don't know where it is. Fuck, I don't even know what it looks like."

He held both of my shoulders as if trying to calm me down. He again stared right into my eyes.

"Calm down. You don't know yet but you will soon know where it is." What now? He’s messing my mind more with his words. It's making my head ache! "Your eyes have this ability to see things, Ven. We call it the Prism Eyes. You see things that only you can see."

I was fazed with what he said. My eyes can see things only myself can see. "What do you mean?"

"If we show you the map of our world, you can pinpoint where the gem is located. Only you can see it. We just need to go to it and unbound us."

It's still a bit complicated but I'm starting to understand. "But why can’t you just bring the map of your world here?"

"Even if I brought it here, it won't work. You need to be in Pluvilia for the ability to activate. That's what the Enchantress said."

"Okay, I get it. But still, what's with the glowing thing?"

That made him think for a bit. "I remember the Enchantress said something about me withstanding pain when I'm with you." He looked at me, making me look back at him as well.

"You give me strength literally. That must be why I'm not affected by the moonlight anymore."

I glanced upwards, looking at the innocent looking moon. I can see that he's alright now. He looks a lot better than when he was a lot paler a while ago.

"Ven, I won't give up. Please come with me." I can see hope in his eyes. But I'm still not ready. In short, I'm scared. Yes, I admit that me, Heavenly Salazar is scared.

"Give me more time. I'm still not ready." I said to him, my gaze locked onto somewhere else.

"It's okay. I will wait."

That actually made me smile but I bit my lip to hide it. I looked at him again when I remembered something that I need to ask.

"By the way, I still have a question." I started. He turned to me and waited for my question. "How did I obtain the ability? I mean, the prism eyes thing?"

That made him ponder for a second before answering. "From what I remember, it was a gift that came along the moment we were bounded together. That ability will stay with you as long as we still have our connection."

"I also remember that besides the gem, the prism eyes can also see other things. I kinda forgot what exactly though." He added.

My forehead furrowed for the nth time today. I’ll see other things as well? Maybe the visions I see were one of those? Damn, this is too frustrating!

I looked at our surroundings and then to my watch. We took our sweet time conversing that we didn’t notice the time. It’s almost 8. We need to get back. We’ve decided to save the questions inside my head for another time.

"Vyl, it's getting late. Let's go back." I stood first from the grass, in which he followed suit after. He trailed after me and we started walking back to the condo.

While walking along the way, Vyl bumped with someone unwittingly.

"Sorry, bud." The guy Vyl bumped into politely apologized. But this guy, Vyl, doesn’t seem to have any plans to apologize as well.

The guy then looked at me, forehead crinkled. I raised my eyebrow while also looking at him.

"Hey, I know you. You're from Ton Hall Condominiums too, right?"

My forehead wrinkled. Too? So, he lives there as well? But he's not familiar though.

"Yes, I am." I answered to the loquacious guy. He just smiled at me and glanced back at Vyl.

"Hey, Bud!" He exaggeratedly smacked Vyl’s shoulders, the guy still not having any expression on his face. He's not happy all right. "I have clothes like that too! What a coincidence."

Suddenly, Vyl and I looked at each other.

Damn. We're in trouble.

The guy was having fun before raising a hand to give Vyl a high-five.

I expected Vyl to just ignore him but the guy and I were both surprised when Vyl raised his hand to the side of his forehead, as if saluting.

What Vyl did left the guy wounded up, I busted my ass of laughing, I can’t help it anymore. What is Vyl doing? The guy just looked at me. I just shrugged off because he looks like he’s asking me.

Vyl then placed his hand down after saluting. The guy was still wondering so I intervened and spoke."Sorry, he has a twisted sense of humour."

"I see..." He just laughed it off. It’s good he believed it.

"Anyway, about the clothes--" I was nervous, thinking about what might happen so I cut him off.

"Uhm- I'm Ven Salazar," I said as I reached out a hand to shake his. He reached out as well to receive it.

"I'm Drake Halton." I smiled falsely at him. I'm not really friendly and you won't see me shaking hands with random people but I'm afraid that we might get caught if I don't distract this man named Drake.

"This here is Vyl Augen. My--"

"Boyfriend?" He said cutting me.

"What? No. Just a friend. He's my friend," I corrected to whatever he’s thinking. Do I look like someone who’ll date a weird guy?

"What's a boyfriend?" Vyl asked in a whisper. I hushed him and continued talking to Drake just so the topic will not bounce back to the clothes.

"So, you're from Ton Hall too?" We started walking back while talking.

"Yes. I just moved there a week ago actually. But I see you sometimes."

I nodded at his words. "So that’s why you don’t seem familiar. You're new. I've been living there for almost a year now."

I’m not fond of conversations but I need to do my best so he’ll not notice the clothes again. The fact that Vyl is not talking doesn't help at all. He's usually noisy. What the hell is happening again?

"Hey so, I hope we can hang out sometimes. I'm on 27th floor room 108."

"I think that won't be necessary." I said while laughing awkwardly. "Hanging out isn't really my thing."

"Oh, come on. Don't be like that. As you have said, I'm new. I don't know anyone here."

"I think we should hang out too." Vyl finally talked but still, not of help at all. I glared at him because of what he said. He just shrugged it off before looking back at Drake with a wide grin.

"See?" Drake said in a matter-of-fact tone.

I just smiled at them. "Maybe we should soon. We’ll be off." I bid farewell so we could walk away. We’re lucky that the guy was not persistent and he let us leave.
