Embrace my Soul: The Light that Shines Within

[Mature Content Included] Struggling to complete her education due to the lack of money, one night she finds herself saving an old man on the street. The old man turns out to be the powerful patriarch of the most influential, yet mysterious, Emerson family. He proposes (more like forces) her marriage to his blind grandson in return for an opportunity to complete her studies. ------------------------------------ Nolan Emerson, the only legitimate heir and the former CEO of the Emerson Group, had gotten into an accident two years ago, leaving him blind in both eyes. Former, why???? Because he hadn’t stepped out of his room ever since the accident happened. He was the rumored devil incarnate, having an extremely bad temperament. ------------------------------------ Amayah Young, a college student with no family members around. Her parents died in a car accident at a young age, leaving her alone in this cruel world to fend for herself. After her parents' death, she became an independent woman, working many small time jobs to provide for her needs. She was a smart, determined, stubborn, and confident girl living on the principle that ‘Education is the only passport for a better future.’ Once she is bent on doing something, she will not let go until she finishes that task. ------------------------------------ What would happen when the only guiding principle she lived on was now being obscured because of not having, the one thing she lacked the most and the only thing he had an abundance of, money? Will she accept the old patriarch’s offer to marry his grandson in exchange for a chance to continue her education? If yes, then what will happen when she steps into the devil’s den? Will she be scared away by the devil prince, or will she be able to use her determination to tame him and bring him out of his den? Will she be able to enter his heart and see him for who he is on the inside, behind that temperamental man, his true self? Will she be able to fill his dark and lonely world with light? If so, then what will it take to tame such a devil incarnate? "A person's personality is composed of various sides of themselves that are dedicated to various people. And when you truly love someone, there are aspects of you that they can bring out, and when they leave, a part of you goes with them." __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ This book contains much more than just romance between Amayah and Nolan. A Lady Who Knows No Shame?

Meanwhile, Nolan realized he hadn't heard the door open, and bellowed again, "I said, get out! Are you deaf?"

Amayah turned around and was about to walk away when she realized she didn't have anywhere else to go and couldn't give up now, so she decided to lie. "The door's locked," she called out over her shoulder. "I'm stuck here."

Noticing that he was searching for something else to throw at her, she quickly added, "Master Nolan, if you hurt me, there'll be no one to look after you."

Hearing that, his face twisted in contempt. "I don't need anyone to look after me."

"Is that so?" She looked down at the floor beneath his bed, where a meal had been overturned. "What about all that food under your bed? Are you waiting for help to clean it up tomorrow?"

Nolan's handsome face immediately darkened.

Amayah suddenly recalled that when she was in the lobby earlier. There wasn't even a faint shadow of a servant on this floor. The rumor was that Nolan's harshness had caused others to distance themselves from him. Perhaps even his own servants were neglecting him now that he'd lost his sight and authority.

It shouldn't have been her concern, but she remembered the marriage contract she'd signed and said, "Let me handle that."

But Nolan refused to comply. "I said I don't need you to!"

She blinked and pursed her lips. "Master Nolan, honestly speaking, it's not like I want to, but it really smells and I'd rather not lose sleep tonight because of it."

One could only wonder how Nolan's mind worked when he just sneered in reply. He clearly wanted it cleaned but refused to let her do it, and cleaning it himself was out of the question. Then, was there an invisible human in this room who was going to clean it for him, or was it going to clean itself?

"What a hurry you are in to please me and claim your reward from my grandfather!"

Amayah just massaged her temples and could just reply, "You think too much, Master Nolan. I'm just trying to keep my part of the bargain. "

Seeing the look of disbelief on his face, she added, "How about this: if I even try to do anything out of the league, you can throw the first thing that you can get hold of at me."

Nolan said nothing. His expression was grim and his body tense.

Amayah couldn't help but wonder if his loss of sight had also caused him to lose faith in people. Was this the reason he wouldn't let anyone near him?

Noticing her getting closer, he averted his gaze and sneered, "Tell me how much money did my grandfather pay you to marry a crippled person like me? It must've been a generous amount if you're willing to clean up after me."

Amayah was kneeling on the ground, picking up the big glass shards of the broken crockery. Hearing this query from him, she responded evenly, "According to the contract, if I marry you, then your family will pay for all of my financial expenses."

Hearing her answer so nonchalantly, a vein throbbed on Nolan's temple.

In spite of the agreement between her and his grandfather, they had never met each other before, so there were obviously no feelings between them. Then why was she looking after him when she could just receive her money now that they were married? Now that he'd lost his vision and was about to lose everything else, what merit was there to be gained in taking care of him?

Done throwing away the broken bits of glass, Amayah rolled and hauled the spoiled rug away.

Assuming that her nonchalance meant that she thought her actions were justified, Nolan scoffed, "You're just a gold digger who will do anything for money."

Amayah countered instantly, "You should not be quick to judge someone, Master Nolan."

Nolan felt a sudden urge to strangle her.

Pretending not to notice his murderous expressions, she stuffed the spoiled rug into the garbage can. She'd ask a servant what to do with it tomorrow.

Next, she picked up the broken pieces of the cup Nolan had thrown at her and disposed of those too. She wouldn't want anyone to be welcomed with a pooling red carpet of their own blood as soon as they stepped in.

Once that was taken care of, she walked to the bed and waved her hand in front of Nolan's eyes. Seeing no reaction from him, she whispered, "Master Nolan, can you really not see anymore?"

Nolan didn't move, but his expression turned even darker.

Withdrawing her hand, Amayah blurted out earnestly, "I'm sorry I didn't mean anything by that… it's just that since we'll be living together from now on, it's better to be sure about some things from the get-go."

Though he feigned disinterest in her, he was ultimately a man, and she'd rather not be caught off guard.

Her sincere apology struck a chord deep within his heart. It was the first time since he'd become blind that anyone had been considerate when talking about his condition. However, concluding that her loyalty was to money rather than to him, Nolan figured it was all just an act to butter him up. "Do you think a few kind words will persuade me to put my trust in you?"

Amayah just stood there in stunned silence. What was wrong with this man? Did he bite everyone with his words like this?

Continuing, Nolan swore through gritted teeth, "I'd never trust anyone like you."

Hearing his arrogant words, Amayah regained her composure and calmly responded, "Very well, Master Nolan, I shall take your words to heart. And by your leave, I'll go take a bath."

Retrieving a practical set of pajamas from her suitcase, she headed into the bathroom with lighter steps than before.
