1 First Time for Everything

Japan is a large country, more than 100 million people walking the streets, how do they all get the latest news? By me, Sakura Saito, your normal Japanese woman, black straight hair and blue eyes. The company I work for is, Saiho's News Now. The biggest news company in Japan, named after Rusha Saiho, the founder of the company. My boss is her latest descendant, Arisu Saiho, and my closest friend. I just get off work turning my computer off for the day, by now, everyone's gone, and the sky is in it's darkest shade of blue. ("Damn, that took longer than I thought.") I thought to myself stretching my arms over my head. ("Well, now it's time to shut it down.") I thought as I gathered my belongings. "Arisu. I'm heading out." I called. But, got no response, as I usually did from her, in return. ("That's strange.") "Arisu?" I called again, approaching her office. I looked through the open glass doors, and saw her passed out on her desk. I shook my head with an amused smile. "Poor girl." I whispered, walking in to her. I lifted her head tilting it to one side to give her more comfort. Then pulled out my phone, to call her fiancee, Atsushi. After a few tries it went to voice male, so I left a message, "Hey Atsushi, it's me. So, Arisu fell asleep at her desk, I'm hoping you could pick her up? Ok, bye." I ended the phone call. And as I was about to turn off my phone, I casually checked the time, 11:45. ("Odd, Atsushi should be off work by now. Maybe he just fell asleep.") I thought with a shrug. I closed down the building, leaving a few lights on in case Arisu woke up or Atsushi came. Though it was night, the city was as bright as ever. The big TVs showing my latest story, "Big Time Mobster" I found from a very reliable source, and witnessing it myself. I smiled at myself, feeling proud that I was able to bring some big time mob boss down. ("Well, I better get home.") I started walking down to the street I lived in. Then flashing lights appeared in front of me, blinding me. I used my hand to shield my eyes from it. I didn't have time to react just, defencelessly stand there, my eyes closed for fear, I actually thought I was going to die. For the first time, I was scared of it.
