5 Chapter 5: Snek

~~~~~~~~
"Well-
"Humph, of course he knows who I am, he's the one who put me here"
Just as I was about to say anything, A thick sneer came from behind. I turned around to see the person I hadn't seen in a long time. A woman with long, thick green hair with a buxom figure.
"How have you been, Mobius" I said with a big smile on my face
"Oh, you dare to ask me how I've been after what you did," she scoffed, her tone dripping with sarcasm and a hint of irritation.
I couldn't help but grin at her playful but obviously vexed response. "C'mon, It's not like It was my fault that I couldn't accompany you back then," I replied, defending my actions. "I had...other obligations to attend to."
Mobius crossed her arms and raised an eyebrow. "Other obligations, you say? Typical."
I chuckled, my fondness for her evident in my smile. "You know me, always getting caught up in one thing or another. But enough about the past, how have you been keeping yourself busy, Mobius?"
Mobius' expression remained inscrutable as ever, but now with a hint of gentleness in her eyes. "I've been observing, as always. The world has its share of mysteries, and it's my job to uncover them."
I rolled my eyes, seemingly unimpressed. "Same old Mobius, always mysterious and cryptic."
I glanced at her, a sense of nostalgia washing over me. It was a strange reunion, but one that felt oddly fitting given the unusual circumstances of my current situation.
The two of us had met at a University when we were both around 10 years old. I was giving a speech about the health and well being of people suffering from the honkai. Back then, I never could have possibly imagined meeting one of the main characters of the Previous Era on one of my speeches. While we didn't have a great chemistry together at the start, when I told her my goal we started getting along.
"So would you like to catch up after a long time?"  I asked, genuinely interested in hearing about her new research and discoveries.
Mobius paused for a moment, then shrugged. "I suppose a brief catch-up wouldn't hurt. But keep in mind, I have a lot of work to do."
I nodded, understanding her dedication to her research. "Of course, I wouldn't want to keep you from your important work. So, let's find what you have uncovered lately?"
James had already excused himself at this point and let the two of us catch up with each other. We then went inside her laboratory. As we began to catch up on each other's lives, I listened intently to Mobius's tales of her ongoing research and the many wonders of the human body she had encountered in her work. Her passion for uncovering the unknown was as palpable as ever, and it was clear that she had not lost her sense of wonder and curiosity. She was just that kind of a person, Once set on something she would do it even at the cost of the whole world.
I had a happy smile on my face as I listened to her talk "So as I was saying- wait are you even listening" I quickly snapped out of my momentary reverie, realizing that I had momentarily lost track of Mobius's conversation. She was looking at me with a mixture of amusement and exasperation.
"Sorry about that," I chuckled, a bit sheepish. "I got lost in thought for a moment. It reminded me of back when we met and got to know each other. Please, continue."
Mobius rolled her eyes playfully. "Typical of you, always getting lost in your own thoughts. Anyway, as I was saying, my latest research has led to some fascinating discoveries about the human body's ability to adapt to external stimuli. It's a complex and intricate process, and I've been conducting experiments to understand it better."
I leaned in, genuinely intrigued by her work. "That sounds fascinating. Could you give me an example of one of your recent findings?"
Mobius nodded, her enthusiasm shining through. "Of course. One of the most intriguing findings involves the body's response to Honkai energy exposure. It appears that, in some cases, the human body can develop a sort of resistance to Honkai energy over time. It's as if the body adapts to the threat and becomes more resilient. However, 99% of the time it's always females who adapt to it"
I raised an eyebrow, intrigued by the gender-specific aspect of her discovery. "Females, you say? That's quite remarkable. Is there a particular reason why this adaptation seems to predominantly affect women?"
Mobius nodded thoughtfully. "It's a question that has puzzled me as well. My current theory is that it might have something to do with the physiological differences between males and females, particularly in the realm of hormonal regulation. But, of course, more research is needed to confirm this hypothesis."
I couldn't help but be fascinated by the implications of her research. "So, if we can understand this adaptation process better, it could potentially lead to new ways of protecting against the Honkai's effects, especially for women?"
Mobius nodded again. "Exactly. If we can harness and replicate this adaptation process, it could be a game-changer in our efforts to combat the Honkai. But, as you can imagine, it's a complex and delicate process, and there are ethical considerations to take into account. At least, in terms of the morals in which this world is governed by."
I nodded in agreement. "Ethical considerations are indeed of importance, especially when dealing with groundbreaking discoveries like this. But it's also remarkable to think about the potential impact on our fight against the Honkai."
I never really knew what the honkai really were and what it wanted to do, as I was never really interested in that part but rather only on the Thirteen Flamechasers. But what I did know was that the way it was doing it was wrong. Although I do know that what was dictating the honkai was a being dimensions above us meaning it never cared for humanity, It didn't have the right to bring pain and destruction upon humanity just because of it's purpose of wanting to "embrace" humanity.
I want to save every living being in this era no matter how insignificant they are even if it meant that the Current Era would never exist. And I'll do anything to make that happen.
(A/N: Soo, what did you guys think about this chapter, I didn't post yesterday because I couldn't find the right way to portray this reunion. I mean I am not good at portraying character interaction so this is probably the best I can do as of right now, I may get better at it in the future but right now this is all I've got and also, Even though it may have sounded like I won't expand to the current era, I already have plans for it and the other Hoyoverse games. I mean why else would I use the word Universe in the title. And I will only be writing about the hoyoverse and not expand to the multiverse and stuff like that, mainly because I made this novel solely for that reason and also because it would get too complicated if I did that. Oh Also the third wish is for convenience so I'll only use it when it's needed, like getting quick trust from a character)
