153 Chapter 153: Room of Remembrance

As the three of us approached the door, Great-grandfather summoned an old-looking metal key from his dimension ring before touching the door with it, which slightly confused me as that wasn't how a key should work; however, what happened next made much more sense. With the end of the key touching the door, the door suddenly released several ripples from where the door and the key were connected; Great-grandfather then let go of the key, allowing the door to absorb it before an extremely complex formation glowed on the door's surface.

Once that was done, the door seemed to be unlocked as Great-grandfather pushed the door open and entered the room behind it; Maxim and I followed closely behind as well.

"For a door such as that to exist in the Royal Library, there must be some very essential information stored here; not even the door to the Elven Royal Cultivation Manual is this heavily guarded." Remarked Elaine while glancing at the now closed door with interest.

"You're not wrong; the cultivation manual, while probably the most important thing to us Royal Elves, Progniter Lourdes, has created the manual to only be usable by Royal Elves, so even if someone other than us got their hands on such a manual, it would be nearly worthless to them; that is why it is so poorly guarded, simply because we don't need to guard it." Stated Charles as he opened yet another door, though this time it was just a normal one, but it didn't lead to a normal room.

While passing through the door behind Great-grandfather, I saw what looked to be a massive column of white light that reached the ceiling; inside the column of white light were floating silver crystals. They were various sizes, but most were roughly slightly smaller than Great-grandfather.

"That's not what I was expecting; are those soul crystals, Great-grandfather? Also, that white light doesn't seem to be normal." Asked Elaine as she intently eyed the column while Maxim felt no different.

"You're much calmer than when I first showed Elif this, though I suppose, unlike you, Elif frequently visits the Royal Library, so he is pretty knowledgeable." Said Charles with a slight smirk as he took a little jab at Elaine, his words causing her to frown.

"I'm not stupid, Great-grandfather." Replied Elaine while eyeing Charles with an annoyed expression.

"Haha, I never called you stupid, Elaine; I merely said Elif knew more than you; there is nothing wrong with that; besides, he was older than you when he first came to the room of the Remembrance, so it's only reasonable for him to know more." Stated Charles with a slight chuckle, successfully easing Elaine's nerves.

"Hmph, anyways, Great-grandfather, what is that column of white light? It doesn't seem to belong here, in the OverRealm, I mean. It looks out of place." Remarked Elaine while trying to discern the properties of the column of white light.

Other than figuring out that the white light radiates an aura similar to that of souls, I returned empty-handed.

"Psionic Qi?" Muttered Elaine curiously as she looked at Charles for confirmation.

"You're correct, but to call it just Psionic Qi would be undermining that column of white light, as it's actually a piece of the Aether dimension. Long ago, during the Flourishing Epoch, on the order of Progniter Lourdes, two Grand-Ancestors went to the Aether dimension to rip a very piece from the dimension itself. Once they accomplished the mission, they returned here and infused the piece into the Erdtree, which was just a mere seedling back then." Stated Charles while eyeing the column of white light that gave off a serene and gentle aura.

"Aether dimension? I believe Brother informed me about that dimension; I remember him saying that after the creation of the OverRealm, the Aether dimension was birthed soon after, along with the Nether dimension." Mentioned Elaine while again looking at the column of white light, though this time with newfound appreciation.

"Indeed. The Aether dimension is the birth of the very first soul, and that is where the reincarnation cycle performs its duties of cleansing souls and rebirthing them anew. It is also the origin of the Fairies, wisps, and other species born without a physical body, a vessel, so to speak. In contrast, the Nether dimension is the birth of the very first physical vessel; unlike the Aether dimension, which is populated with intelligent lifeforms, creatures born in the Nether dimension have no soul, making them nothing but mindless beasts acting upon their instincts. So, I'd advise you to keep your distance from such a dimension; many powerful beasts inhabit that dimension, and even I, a fourth-degree tribulation realm cultivator, wouldn't visit such a realm without preparation." Stated Charles calmly with his hands behind his back.

"I don't intend to visit such a dimension that even you would avoid Great-grandfather, though if Brother ends up going someday in the future, I will accompany him." Said Elaine with a nod as Charles merely chuckled in amusement.

"So, now that I've brought you to the room of Remembrance, I'll be returning to my duties; if you wish to leave, the door is unlocked, but if you ever wish to visit this place, you'll need my assistance, since as the keeper of the Royal Library, I have the key. Also, the memories are arranged from oldest to earliest, from the bottom to the top." Said Charles with a light smile while closing the door behind him, leaving Elaine and Maxim alone.

Once Great-grandfather left, I turned around and eyed the column of white light while deciding to start from the bottom; however, before I did so, I approached a pedestal in the distance, and on said pedestal, there was a large book that had the symbol of us Royal Elves on the front cover.

~Ancestral Records of the Royal Elves.~

'Hahaha, Yes! This is exactly the information I was looking for!' Thought Elaine with an excited yet crazy expression as she quickly opened the book.

The first page of the book was the table of contents, which seemed to separate the birth of Royal Elves' based on the Epoch they were born into; since the Harmonious Epoch was by far the longest one, I expected it to consist of the most Royal Elves born in one Epoch. Yet, to my surprise, it wasn't the Harmonious Epoch; it was the Primordial Epoch.

'Hmm, I suppose when you think about it, the Primordial Epoch was during the time of the birth of Cultivation, so it makes sense many Royal Elves were born during that period compared to any other as they didn't have an increased lifespan.' Thought Elaine while deciding to start from the last page, which actually consisted of her and Elif.

~Elif August, the firstborn of Maria and Marcus August. A mutated Royal Elf born with a high Immortal-tier Spirit root and a middle Immortal-tier Physique. ~

~Elaine August, the second born of Maria and Marcus August and younger sister of Elif August. A Royal Elf born with a high God-tier Spirit root and a middle Immortal-tier physique.~

There were a few other details about Brother and me, such as our current cultivation base, specific physique, current location in the OverRealm, and the age at which we each achieved a new cultivation base. Though only starting once, we became a Saint and a few other things that weren't noteworthy.

'For this book to have such detailed information about every Royal Elf, it must be updated in real time, probably from the use of some formation, one I most likely haven't learned yet.' Pondered Elaine as she observed Elif's current location, which seemed to be on the outskirts of an independent city near a forest.

'Hmm, if I'm not mistaken, that's pretty close to the Heavenly Empire's domain; I hope nothing happens to brother. Because if I find out something happened to my Brother, I'll torture whoever caused him harm!' Thought Elaine with an eerie smile as her aura turned somewhat dark and ominous, causing Maxim to raise an eyebrow, though he didn't question it.

Since Brother's location didn't seem to be moving, I flipped to the next page, or I should say the previous page, and briefly viewed Mother and Father's archive.

~Maria August, the firstborn of Tiana and Tyler August. A Royal Elf born with a high God-tier Spirit root and a high God-Tier Physique.~

~Marcus August, the second born of Tiana and Tyler August and younger brother of Maria August. A Royal Elf born with a high God-tier Spirit root and a middle God-tier Physique.~

'Hmm, Father was born with a weaker physique than Mother; wonder if that means she is more powerful than Father?' Thought Elaine as she curiously observed their cultivation base, only to be slightly shocked.

"They both have True God Emperor cultivation bases!" Stated Elaine in surprise while intently reading their archive.

'I was right; Mother is slightly stronger than Father, as she is in the late stage of a True God Emperor while Father is in the middle stage.' Thought Elaine with a nod of her head; however, it wasn't until just now that she realized something very important.

As I was too preoccupied with viewing Mother and Father's details, I had entirely skipped over something incredibly vital, yet as I looked back on it, I could feel my smile growing larger by the second.

'Maria August, firstborn; Marcus August, secondborn! Maria August, firstborn; Marcus August, secondborn!!' Thought Elaine repeatedly as a creepy smile adorned her face while her pupils practically transformed into hearts.

"Hehehe, HAHAHA!!" Exclaimed Elaine as her innocent laughter morphed into something more psychotic, causing even Maxim to be slightly creeped out.

"Your Highness, is everything okay?" Asked Maxim softly.

Realizing Maxim was still present, I quickly reined in my laughter and tried calming down, yet that proved futile as I was simply too ecstatic and excited at my discovery; I didn't even care that Maxim witnessed this side of me.

"Yes, I'm fine, Maxim; no, I'm more than fine actually, I'm great!" Replied Elaine as she turned around while sporting an innocent, one that significantly eased Maxim's concern.

'Hehehe, Brother is MINE!' Thought Elaine with deranged eyes, her heart producing an untold amount of joy as she imagined having Elif all to herself.
