31 Forging weapons part two

"What have I done?" was my first thought as I held my head tight and reconsidered my last actions.

I just wasted about 40,000-50,000 on a simple string. If it were the bow in general, I would have accepted it if it had some kind of change, like the string, but I can't accept that I spent so much on a simple string that can break or wear out by using it too much and that can be changed very easily.

I held onto the rope and, for a moment, had the urge to break it, but doing so wouldn't get the magic stones back.

"What rage!" I started trying to breathe in and out to try to calm down, and I started to inspect the rope.

After looking at the rope that had taken so many valis for several minutes, I felt the urge to break it again, but I just held it and tried to feel if there was something different. The only thing I noticed was that it had become a little more elastic, but not too much, so it could still be used for the bow.

Observing the result, the rope, measuring a single meter, provided good tension.

I grabbed the bow and took a deep breath, planting my feet firmly on the ground, shoulder-width apart.

I held the bow tighter, feeling its weight in my hand. The steel hilt was firmly pressed by the gloves I used to hold the hammer. I leaned my torso forward slightly, allowing for proper weight distribution, and squared my shoulders.

My fingers gripped the rope lightly as I raised my elbow a little above my shoulder and held the rope tight.

I took one last deep breath and paused, my body perfectly aligned and balanced. I felt a little nostalgic, and bad memories came to mind, but I ignored those feelings and pulled the rope like I used to in the past.

While pulling, I noticed that the more I pulled the rope, the tension increased. I knew this was normal, but every time I pulled, the required force was much greater than before. Even so, the rope could still be pulled more easily, despite feeling that the tension was already too much.

I stopped pulling and let go of the rope.

Whizz!

The sound it produced was beautiful. "I should try testing it with arrows. Maybe all those used valis haven't gone to waste."

I'm just trying to justify the stupid thing I did, but you can't cry over spilled milk anymore.

I put the bow down next to the pack and picked up another piece of light steel along with some kobold nails and one of the severed pieces of the purple moth's wing.

I was about to continue forging when a strange sound interrupted me.

"Grrumble."

I looked down and realized it was my own stomach. Now that I noticed it, I felt like I was starving. How long had it been since I started?

I approached the backpack and took out a bento that contained my lunch, which was meat with cooked potatoes. I had planned to have lunch at this place, but I think having lunch in a sweltering environment in scorching heat isn't the best idea. I walked out the door and headed across the hall to where the gun store is located.

Upon arrival, I was a bit surprised by the sight of a woman with orange hair sleeping with her head resting on her hands that were on the counter, a boy reading some kind of book at a table, and a girl throwing a knife to make it turn into the air before catching the hilt.

"Liam," Lyra said after stopping of play with knife.

"Sorry, I got so focused on the forge that I forgot you were coming."

"Don't worry," he said before taking out a cloth bag. "Here," he threw it in my direction. I grabbed it and looked at its contents.

"Lyra, one War Shadow's Finger Blade is already more than enough."

"You can keep the other one," she said as if it were nothing special.

"Thank you very much. Wait a moment for me to have lunch, and it won't take long to finish your order."

"Sure, you can take all the time you need."

I sat next to Fresk and started to eat my lunch as quickly as I could.

When I finished having lunch, I said, "OK, pass me the knives you want me to improve."

"Okay," she said before placing the knife she was using before next to another similar knife.

I picked them up before walking towards the corridor. "I'll be back in a bit," I said before entering the corridor and then went back to the forge room.

I took out the knives and the War Shadow's Finger Blade and put the knives in the forge to heat up. But this time, I didn't let them heat up to a reddish color before taking them out and put the knives on top of the anvil side by side and began to use the War Shadow's Finger Blade.

At the end of the process, I only put the knives to cool in the bucket of water. I only had to wait several minutes before taking them out and leaving the forge room.

I went out a second time and handed her the knives.

"So fast? I thought it would take much longer," she said surprised.

"That would only happen if I made the weapon from scratch," I replied.

"Well, I won't ask any more, thanks for the improvement."

"See you later."

"Until next time," I replied.

Before re-entering the forge room, I was curious about something.

"Fresk, what book are you reading?"

He answered me without taking his eyes off the book.

"It's just a fairy tale about a blacksmith who tried to replicate the swords Argonaut used."

After satisfying my curiosity, I went back to the forge to start making the next weapon. I played the same game as before and the result was David, so I started making his spear.

This time, I followed the same procedure as before, but used different materials for the tip of the spear. The material I used was Blood Onyx, and I sacrificed a piece of the purple moth wing, although I wasn't sure if it would add any poison.

When I heated the steel with the onyx, I had to take out the light steel because the Onyx had a higher resistance to high temperatures. I hammered for hours, using my exalted state since it was more difficult to work with the hardness of the Blood Onyx. I also used my ability to facilitate the fusion of the point with the rest of the body of the spear. I added three small points to the left and right side of the spear below the head until I finally managed to finish it. I then sacrificed goblin fangs for the overall spear.

"Then, after putting the spear to cool down, I gathered all the leftover materials in my backpack and left the forge room."

"I'm done," I told Fresk, as he dinnered, even though the store was already closed.

"Do you want to see the weapons I made?" I asked him.

"Okay." He approached the table as I put the spear that I had in my hands and the steel bow that I had on my back.

"I thought there was wood to make bows on one of the shelves," was the first thing he said when he saw the steel bow I made for Milya.

"You haven't learned about the types of wood found in the dungeon yet?"

"You should, the world is a big place, so you also have to learn about non-Orario materials."

"Er... I've just been going through a lot lately and have only studied a little about minerals. I don't have much idea about the wood collected in the dungeon," I said, a little nervous because I usually spent most of my time in the dungeon or doing other activities.

"Well, at least it's a great bow. Although I don't recognize much of the rope material, I must say that it is quite good."

"As for the spear, it's much better than when you made your knives. It shows that you have improved a lot after the last day I taught you. Well, I look forward to seeing the next weapons you make," he said after repositioning himself.

"What are their names?"

Now that I think about it, I haven't named them

"The bow is called Titanium Light, and the spear is called Red Driller"

"I think it's the kind of name that the gods usually like, but everyone has their own taste"

"By the way, I used half a kilogram…"

"You don't need to say what you used. I already have a list of all the materials, and you don't need to pay me now. Just do it when you finish making the last weapon. Well, I'm sleepy so you can go now," he said, as he yawned.

"Thanks," I said before picking up the weapons and leaving.

It was already very late, and I got a little hungry again. For a moment, I thought about going to the dungeon and trying to recover some valis, but I changed my mind and went into an alley. I made sure that nobody was watching me before opening a portal. When I crossed it, I arrived at my room.
