CHAPTER START---

Standing at the edge of their campsite on the 18th floor as everyone gets ready to move out, Yang and the Hermes familia members watch patiently as Meryl prepares herself to chant.

Taking a deep breath the small girl begins her chant, as her words continue a purple magic circle appears at her feet, matching her outfit and her hair, "Riowa Flare!" she yells out, a cone of flames fifteen feet long fires out from her wand for almost five seconds before she stops it.

With a cheery smile on her face, she takes a deep breath and looks over to the spectators.

"Did I do good?" She asks, looking directly to Yang, seeing his confused face at her demonstration.

"I...dunno," he admits before turning to Asfi and Falgar, "did she?"

"Shouldn't you know that, you're the level 6 here," the cat man says.

"Uh... I've never really been on a team with normal people, also I'm really really not a good way to measure people," he admits with a shrug.

"Yeah, we noticed," Asfi shudders at the memory of him getting past the Goliath the day before. "Meryl is our familia's best magic-user, one of our only two magic users in fact, but my magic isn't very useful," the woman admits.

"Oh, good job Meryl," Yang says, giving the girl a nod, "I was curious about what her magic does since you said she was talented with magic, no idea what I expected but fire is pretty good in the dungeon," he says.

"Your turn!" the girl happily bounces in place, excited at the idea of seeing his magic.

"Uh...sure," he says, Asfi and Falgar take Meryl to a safe distance, not sure what he's planning.

Casually lifting his arm, he points a single finger toward the ceiling.

*FOOM*

A massive twisting pillar of fire and wind erupts from his hand, the heat incinerates the grass at his feet and begins eating away at his clothes. The nearby adventurers in Ganesha's camp can feel the moisture from their skin being evaporated as their lips crack from sudden dryness.

Meryl felt sick as she saw this demonstration, with a simple flick of his finger he released more magic than she had or had ever felt before, all her instinct screamed to run away from this monster in front of her, as if it were a mountain falling onto her.

A moment later he cuts off the magic fueling the pillar and gives his hand a small frown," hmm, haven't used any real attacks since I leveled up...looks like I need to retrain to concentrate my magic again," he scratches his head while making a small flame in his hand and focusing on it.

"Uh, your shirt is on fire," Asfi points out, giving him a strange look as he ignored the blue flame licking his skin.

"Oh, right," a cold mist puts out all the flames on his body with a thought, "sorry about that."

"I'm not really surprised considering what you did to Goliath yesterday, that was...something," the woman says as she walks up to him with Falgar and Meryl.

"Yeah, need to get used to my new stats and all that, just when I got the hang of being level 5 everything changes..." Yang mutters as he puts out the flame in his hand.

"My heart bleeds for you," Shakti rolls her eyes as she approaches the adventurers, "so you were just testing magic, no monster here?" she asks.

"Yeah, we ready to move?"

"Yeah, do you need to change?" she points out his burnt shirt.

"Nope, gotta throw this out anyway so let's just go," Yang says, ignoring his burnt top.

"You should really wear proper clothes," Ilta says as she comes over to get her captain.

"Yeah, not taking clothing advice from the woman in a fur bikini..." he says to the amazon while giving her a bored look.

---Floor 27...

As his allies walk through the tunnels down to the bottom of the Great Fall, Yang hovers above the main pool of floor 27, high above the newly spawned monster-rex Amphisbaena.

"Alright, let's see how this goes," he mutters to himself as he cuts his magic, plummeting directly down.

As he descending hundreds of feet, flames erupt beneath his feet allowing him to rocket toward the monster.

His shirt immediately incinerates as his Mage Armor bursts to life, blue flames and purple lighting flowing across his body.

Investing more and more of his magic into this one attack, his magic roaring out, half fire and half lighting as he crashes into the beast before it can even react. Releasing all the magic of this attack at once.

*BOOM*

The entire area shakes, a mushroom cloud of steam bursts out as the pool is completely evaporated, the monster completely destroyed as its crystal cracks.

"Argh," Yang groans as he grabs the scale drop item and leaps from the lake bed to the shore, ignore the other crystals and item drops from whatever fish monsters we in the pool.

"Shit...," he mutters while looking at his hands, some heavy burnt spots, twitching slightly as he creates some water to cool them off, "my control was off, forcing that much magic that fast can go bad, back to square one ever level up..." he withdraws a potion and pours it over his hands.

Thankfully he wore his battlemage pants and boots so he was simply shirtless, as the plume of steam dissipates he sees the pool completely cratered, all the water gone and monsters dead, before even a minute passes it begins to refill with water from the Great Fall running off from nearby lakes.

"Hmm, that wasn't even near half my magic...Level 6 is gonna be fun," a mischievous grin forms on his face as he stores the drop item into his inventory and begins walking over to where his allies should be arriving.

Arriving at the pool almost half-hour later, Shakti is the first to notice Yang sitting against a tree with a book in his hands and a new shirt on, happily eating a ration bar.

"You a fan of world history?" She asks, seeing the book in his hands.

"Something like that, what took you so long?"

"Fishmen, lots, took us maybe 10 minutes to clear them all," she says as her entire unit stops to check their gear, ensuring trudging through the water didn't cause any damages or malfunctions.

"I've been waiting for like...25 minutes," he says, "glad you're all ok."

"25 minutes?" Asfi asks as Meryl walks up to Yang.

"Yeah, only took me like two to fly around for a bit, then killed the boss in one move," he gestures to the small empty lake that was famous for having the two-headed dragon.

"I'm not even surprised, Hephaestus really got lucky with you," Shakti says with a deep sigh, "alright let's get moving," she orders, seeing the supports already back on their feet.

---Floor 30...

Sitting on a large boulder close to the battlefield, Yang watches some of the Ganesha familia effectively play around with their target monster, allowing it to use as many attacks as possible so they can properly report on its capabilities.

Sitting beside him Meryl happily eats a small jar of Crystal Drops as Shakti and some of the other level 5s form a perimeter to step in should things go badly.

The monster they were fighting was one Yang was quite familiar with, Glavenus. The Cutting Wyvern, a large T-Rex-shaped monster, red and black scales with massive spikes protruding from its back. All the darker scales on it were metallic in nature, and the magnum opus, its tail was one large and sharp metallic blade that it swung around like anyone would a sword.

Its mouth was an even more unique evolutionary feature, the small teeth were meant to stay away from the overbite created by the black scales where it would have had lips, the metal scales connect together to create a Whetstone, effective making this creature a Whetstone and Blade all in one.

As it spins around and bites down on its own tail, an ear-piercing sound of metal scraping metal is heard far and wide as it grinds the tale against the plates near its mouth while clamping down as hard as possible.

A massive black blade entered its mouth, and a burning red hot blade left.

Doing one large full-body spin it slams into the shield of an unfortunate level four, ragdolling the man across the battlefield and severing one of his hands as it destroyed the shield in one blow.

All of his allies react immediately, distracting the monster, unfortunately for them, it opened its mouth and instead of a roar, out came a ball of fire.

Barely avoiding the projectile, the ball splashes onto the ground, sprinkling bits of molten metal in the little area.

For twenty minutes they poked and prodded and traded blows with the monster. This was what the Ganesha familia has been doing since new monsters arrived, taking teams into the dungeon and studying them, taking hits and gritting their teeth for the sake of bolstering the guild's information to save lives in the future.

"Doesn't look like it does anything the guild didn't know about," Yang says to Asfi, the woman was standing just in front of their boulder taking notes on everything that happens during the fight.

"It would seem so, we're almost at the limit of the damage we can take," she responds, glancing over to the man who was having his arm worked on by the medical unit on the sidelines.

Walking over to him a few minutes later, Shakti waves at Yang to get his attention away from the fight, "Hey, you mind ending this, I don't wanna risk anyone else getting close to it," she asks.

"Uh...sure, give me a sec," he shrugs and pushes off the rock landing closer to the battlefield.

Focusing his magic he takes a deep breath, his Elemental Wheel appears on his back, at first the entire thing is blue flames, until half of it shift and twist, becoming brown rocks floating like an asteroid belt.

After focusing on the balance of his magic, Yang stomps on the floor.

'Erupt'

A stream of lava appears stretching out from his position, feeling the magic in his attack being released all nearby adventurers leap away from the battlefield immediately.

In a matter of seconds Glavenus is roaring and screaming as it's pulled into a pit of bubbling lava, ropes of molten rock erupting and covering the monster, burning it alive while drowning it all at once.

The entire battlefield is silent in wake of this attack, all eyes move to Yang and the smile on his face as he watches his handiwork. Completely ignorant of the looks of horror on the faces of his allies.

"Alright, we done here?" he turns to Shakti, the woman giving him an uncertain look.

"You're... not what I expected, especially not from Orario's newest superstar..." she admits hesitantly.

"Eh, I don't really take that stuff serious... too much drama," he casually replies.

'Yeah...you definitely don't seem so powerful at first. All that power and I'd easily miss you in a crowd,' she thinks to herself, thoughts not unlike Asfi's as they watch the young man dote on Meryl.

First-class adventurers tend to have a certain atmosphere around them, they all recognized that. But Yang was different, he didn't seem like much at all, always so carefree, relaxed, and humble even, not one to openly boast about his feats unless someone asked a question. But after this, they knew better...he was a monster that could burn them all down if he wanted, they were just grateful he was on their side...

END CHAPTER---

Yes, he finally has Lava, it was always planned since chapter 1, his original magic was going to be just lava and earthbending in the first draft actually because I thought about doing a 'Reincarnated as Bolin' book before this :)
